Referee Watch – Anthony Taylor

Barring any late changes, Anthony Taylor of Manchester will be in the middle for Blues’ game against Wolves at Molineux tomorrow. Here is a look at his stats.

Season Performance

Mr Taylor has officiated in thirteen games so far this season, showing twenty-two yellow cards and three reds. Of those games, only one has been in the Championship and in that game Mr Taylor kept his cards in his pocket. Last season, Mr Taylor was in charge of thirty-four games, showing 106 yellows and eight reds and of those games eight were in the Championship. In those eight games Mr Taylor booked twenty-three players and sent off four. Mr Taylor is a referee on the Premier League list.

Last Blues Game

The last Blues game Mr Taylor was in charge of was the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup in March of this year. In that game Mr Taylor booked Nikola Zigic of Blues and Fernando Torres of Chelsea. I didn’t mention the ref in my match reflections from that game and from memory he had a good game – the penalty awarded against Blues being absolutely fair.

Last Championship Game

The last Championship game Mr Taylor took charge of was the 2-2 draw between Leicester and Nottingham Forest on November 10. He didn’t show any yellow cards in that game but did award a penalty to the away side which Simon Cox scored. The penalty was a dubious decision which didn’t go down well with the Leicester Mercury and even thisisnottingham.co.uk had to agree it was a slightly generous pen.
