Referee Watch – Mick Russell

Barring any late changes, Mick Russell of Hertfordshire will be in the middle for Blues’ Championship game against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium today. Here is a look at his stats.

Season Performance

Mr Russell has taken charge of forty-two games so far this season, showing ninety yellow cards and four reds. Of those games, fifteen have been in the Championship and in those matches Mr Russell has handed out forty-four cautions and sent off one player.

Last Blues Game Refereed

The last game involving Blues that Mr Russell took charge of was the 2-0 win over Peterborough on February 23. In that game Mr Russell booked two players – Michael Bostwick of Peterborough and Callum Reilly of Blues. In my match reflections I noted he was lenient on Blues and Tatts gave him a 6 in his match ratings.

Last Championship Game Refereed

The last game in this division that Mr Russell officiated in was the 0-0 draw between Brighton and Charlton on April 2. In that game Mr Russell booked four players – Gordon Greer and Liam Bridcutt of Brighton along with Andy Hughes and Johnnie Jackson of Charlton. The Brighton Argus doesn’t mention Mr Russell whilst I couldn’t find a local match report for Charlton.
