October Positivity

Birmingham City enter the October international break in a strong position after beating Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at St Andrew’s on Saturday. That result leaves Blues in 6th place on 20 points having lost fewer games than any other team in the division.

Money Can’t Buy Me Promotion

Paul McCartney once sang “Money Can’t Buy Me Love”. Having looked at the Championship table this evening I wonder how many chairman are wondering if their money can’t buy them promotion either.

In Flight Positivity

If there is one thing that has been proven in the last two years or so, it’s that having a figurehead for the club’s owners resident in Birmingham is good for the club. Regardless of what he’s actually done the biggest thing Panos Pavlakis has achieved in my eyes is to be seen as a force for good by a large number of Blues fans.

The right kind of investment

There has been news of a couple of good additions to the club this week despite the lack of players coming in so far in the transfer window. The appointment of Ewan Chester as Football Consultant will beef up the scouting system and give Gary Rowett more options to choose from while the £450,000 investment to improve the “dome” at Wast Hills will add to the improvements made within the Academy.

Do you believe?

Gary Rowett spoke on the official website on Monday about how up to a dozen teams were still in the frame for promotion from the Championship including Blues. 12th placed Brentford trail Hull City by 16 points making the top half of the second tier a fairly tightly packed bunch. Is the Bromsgrove Ranieri a believer in the Promotion disco bus?

I think there was a certain amount of pride in the proclamation from the official Birmingham City twitter account that it was “highly unlikely” that there would be any further activity in the transfer window.

Keep the Faith – Sheffield Wednesday Reflections

The resurgence in Birmingham City’s form met a brick wall at Sheffield Wednesday with the Owls running out comfortable 3-0 winners. Two goals in two first half minutes put Carlos Carvalhal’s men in control with Fernando Forestieri adding his second and Wednesday’s third early into the first half.

Competing with the big boys

Birmingham City might consider themselves unfortunate to only have come away from the Riverside with a point following the admission from captain Michael Morrison that he really should have scored a 90th minute header.
