Postcards from HK: Last Minute Nerves
If no one knew about the strength of feeling on the terraces about the situation at Blues before in Hong Kong, they do now. Unlike previous trips to HK, there is this time very much a sense of wanting to know the fans’ feelings back in Birmingham from the local press here with the verdict so close.
Obviously, as OP is a one man band I can only speak for myself – however, I threw it out to people on twitter this afternoon so the newspaper guy I was speaking to could see what people thought – good and bad and get a rounded view of how people see the situation. There promises to be a lot of press there tomorrow; a lot more than I’ve seen in the court room previously.
Two things of note have come out of today. The first one is that there is a potential for the delay in the verdict tomorrow. I spoke to senior counsel for the prosecution and defence this evening about rumours of a delay and whilst both said it was unlikely… neither ruled it out completely. Although the case doesn’t necessarily affect the running of the club it does strike me a further delay would go down like a pork chop in a synagogue back home so I would hope that this isn’t the case.
Secondly, I picked up from a source that when they went to BIH’s offices in Harbour Centre, Wan Chai to try to speak to someone there about the case Carson was in the office – having a business meeting with other executives there. Now this might not be seen as important, but it came after Carson’s resignation from all posts with the company – if he is “unconnected” to the running of the company as some in the comments seem to insist, then what is he doing there? I’m also informed by the same source that Carson’s driver has been seen waiting for him on the ground floor of Harbour Centre every day for a week. Read into that what you will.
I’ll be reporting from the court room so if you have twitter keep an eye on the Often Partisan account as I will tweet as much as I can from about 12:30am GMT. Hopefully, I will be reporting a decision rather than another delay.

Good luck Carson
Keep up the good work Dan
Good luck Carson and well done Dan
“Carson’s driver has been seen waiting for him on the ground floor of Harbour Centre every day for a week….”
‘Might’ have been something to do with share ‘dealing’……..
Everything about CY is vauge. I’ll be glad to see the back of him and his cronies.
Agent
After tomorrow we will know somrthing DEFINITE about Yeung !!!!!!
Have you attempted to make formal contact with Mr Pannu whilst you are out there?
No.
I have got to the stage where I don’t really care what happens to Carson personally, I just want our club, OUR CLUB, to regain some stability and start heading in the right direction. That does not necessarily mean throwing pots of money at it, nor does it mean sacking anyone.
I just want the club to have a stable base to maintain status in the Champo, with good club morals, a buzzing stadium, committed players and a quality brand of football.
If all of that happens and success is a by-product, I won’t complain either.
is he expecting the worse and wants to sell up…..and thats why all these meetings are taking
place…..i trully hope so, please god. KRO.
Dan — have you got a killer question ready in case you bump into Yeung again?
I give you two options:
1. Why does he think Shane Ferguson has dropped down the pecking order on the left wing?
2. Why is Peter Pannu paying himself a consultancy fee for work for the club as Asia Rays?
I doubt I will tbh
Like everyone else will be glad to see the back of him, however people dress it up and defend carson the crux of it all is that since carson came to bcfc he and his cronies have run it extremely badly….let hope after tomorrow we start to clean the mess up and get back to talking about football.
Great work Dan, thank you. Hope tomorrow gives us all a bit more direction if not clarity
Dan, whatever comes tomorrow, I suggest you go and drink in the new makati or country girl bars in Wanchai, to either drown your sorrows or to celebrate.
Thanks for all the updates, far better than any rag tag paper in the UK who ignore our plight.
KRO and look after yourself out there.
Im too poor for wan chai mate, slumming it in the cooked food markets of sheung wan
I think Carson has been in his meetings to discuss the sale of St. Andrews and the impending new building works on the site of our once beloved and famous old stadium. My bet is that it will be an extension to Wing Yip or a “St Andrews Buffet Island”, where on Saturdays at 3:00 pm, we can all attend for a buffet meal and muse over the old pictures of TF smashing the ball past Phil Parkes after making Frank McLintock look a complete mug (I was there, on the Kop!!). I would not put anything past this lot – they will do anything to get their money back.
DELAY NO MORE and GOD SAVE THE BLUES.
Now there a slight rumour for a delay, what a surprise! my money going on it will be delayed if the past court time and delays is anything to go on. Me and you dan have had a difference of opinion on how the courts are run over there in the past, but im sorry if there is a delay this time then the whole thing is a f*cking joke and no reason at all will be good enough for me or several thousand blueenoses as to yet ANOTHER delay. The judge/prosecutor has had more than enough time now to come to a decision if hes got half a brain, and this 28th feb date was more than long enough when was first set any longer is just damn rite taking the piss!
Be careful in indulging in tittle-tattle. Have you seen the chauffer’s car at BIH or CY entering or exiting?
Julian
Be careful in offending someone who’s site you are commenting on… ;)
Daniel that sounded like a veiled threat to Julian.
Who the feck is Julian ?
Well this post got through so free speech still reins!
Free Speech ?? Not on this site it dosent !! Anyone who seems to critisise the chinese in any way and perhaps suggest that they are a little less than honest , immediatly has their posts removed !!
Roll on seeing Yeung Jailed and Pannu kicked out !!
comment edited
mike
“Free speech” does NOT give you the right to say what you want on a private website – which this is. You comment at my discretion and if I consider your comment is not within keeping of the rules – ie for racism or libel reasons – then I retain the absolute right to edit or delete your comments as I see fit. “Free speech” gives you the right to start a website of your own to criticise what I say or do. I would suggest if you do not like the way I moderate comments you refrain from commenting on and/or reading this site.
Veiled?
No, nothing veiled about it. This is MY site and people would do well to have to some courtesy in remembering that. Insulting my professional integrity isn’t going to get you far.
fully in agreement with you Daniel racist overtones just shows how small minded some people are………….
Friggin’ hilarious is that!
Bit off topic I know but we dont have the right to free speech in this country…. we have no constitution or law which allow a complete right to free speech…….. america is the place to go if you want that luxury!!!!!!
does it grab you that something chineese fishy is going on if there is another delay….to be
honest it wouldnt supprise me and nor should it anybody else if it does happen…..this court
case as been one long nighmare and it might just continue.KRO.
I think bluenoseb has hit the nail on the proverbial chinese head. I think it is likely that there will be a delay and they are taking the pi*s. How can anyone in their right mind spend £81.5M on a business and turn it into a pile of garbage after just 3 or 4 years? Why us? I am absoultely gutted at all of this nonsense – DELAY NO MORE – PLEASE, PLEASE SELL OUR CLUB TO SOMEONE WILL CHERISH IT LIKE WE DO.
Carson still pulls the strings. Just relinquished position to keep people happy
Make that to keep the Football League happy. ” He don’t care about us”
CY has installed his people at the helm of BIHL and irrespective of the trial outcome he will still be pulling the strings, just not officially. As to a possible delay, on what possible grounds the judge has had 2 months to reach a decision, surely that’s long enough!
i hope young carson gets off but if not i hope instruction is to sell blues as i know he cares about blues fortunes
Good luck carson we are waiting on your return……….kro
Is that the “Royal” we mark? ;)
No, I am as well.
Once again, top work by OP.
Hope you realise how many people, directly or indirectly, rely and eagerly await your daily reports and opinions.
I think we all kind of feel that something is going to be different after tomorrow, but in reality it will probably remain in limbo for some time.
Lets hope for good results on Friday and Saturday and a lift for the next two big home games.
Keep up the good work and have a safe journey back.
blues will need all the luck in the world and an awfull lot more if carson returns to birmingham.
KRO, more like Keep Right Out…..IF and its a big IF he is found not guilty do you honestly
believe we will welcome him with open arms after the damage this case as called us….
he might be found not guilty in hong kong but that wont wash with a lot of blues fans….
why would you want him back when hes got no money to whipe is back side with and
a fraud case hanging over is head….unbelieveble!!!! DNM & KRO.
Don’t worry Dave, there can only be one verdict IMO. People like Mark are just the fringe nutters that seem to revel in idiotic comments. I suspect maybe a Vile in disguise.
unfortuately i dont rise to your idiotic comments…………………you can believe what you chose to believe……
I can not believe any true blues fan can be wishing yeung good luck.
Yes we won the cup and I was there and apart from the birth of my children it was the best day of my life, however he has ripped the heart out of the club with his sidekick pannu and for me selling one of own Redmond last summer was the final straw. You criticise fans for lack of support and then offer your support to very person who is destroying the club, this shows a lack of basic sense in my view
Redmond would not have turned down going to premiership team get your head out of the clouds………
As for my criticism i support my team though thick and thin mate how about you………….
its your opinion if you dislike carson and pp good luck to you, unfortunately i dont share the same opinion as you…………….kro
I cannot believe the comments whishing CY good luck whats happing to the humen brain,
he took over a club with money obivisously made by foul means , put the club in vertual freefall
without the skills of Clark we would have been dead and buried, the teams effort and determination won through on the day against Arsenal, nothing to do with CY.
come on wake up ,this club is Birminghams and not chinise
with respect to all chinise
Quite right, it was the team and the ginger ninja that won the cup, with a lot help from us fans. Yeung had nothing to do with it, he and his pals, know nothing about football !
If this was a film or television series I don’t think anybody would be watching by now. If it was a book we would’ve turned to the back pages a long time ago just to find out how it all turned out without having to wade through all the implausible red herrings along the way. I will be glad to “read the back pages” in this sorry saga, but fear that it will be a long long time before those pages are written.
In celebrating the verdict tomorrow, might be time to do a conga at Ipswich although it may be short lived kro
good luck to justice tomorrow.
delay no more seems apt as a delay is likely, don’t the courts read this blog in their lunch break!!
we want a verdict so at least any appeal from either side can continue this long running series asap
I think if cy is found not guilty and returns to st Andrews you will see a big divide in the fans judging from some of the posts and that is not healthy. I don’t know cy and I am not going to judge him but I do think it would be better for all concerned if he sold the club so we can all move on. k.r.o. d.n.m.
If CY is still the biggest shareholder with BIHL and BCFC then his standing down or withdrawing from control is only a worded document to appease HKSE.
He could be just overseeing any plan of action should the worse event and he is sent down.
As you have said in the past Dan, I don’t think this is going to end tomorrow.
I’d like to believe this is the start to the end, but…
Anything that involves CY and/or BIHL has always faced delay after delay so I wouldn’t be surprised if we were treated to another.
KRO+DNM
I predict a delay of 6 months as the judge considers the new evidence that has come into his hands at the 23rd hour. Despite our cries of DELAY NO MORE I predict Delays lots more.
As we speak, Carsen is probably watching his wife iron his shirt for the last time for a long time. Have a last look at that view of the bay Carsen, it will be there in 12 years time!
If the verdict is not guilty there are still two outcomes that will determine how he is received at Stans: those that say he ‘got off’ will be hostile; those that say he is innocent will be sympathetic
Mates, so you know..Dan’s twitter is @often_partisan. The underscore is essential…without it you go to another site called oftenpartisan; I did anyway.
Lingard has joined Brighton on loan for the rest of the season!
Court case adjourned till Monday all 4 bcfc
directors there more money out the pot.
I recon this is good news for us and Carson.
Nope, it just means the judge reads slowly
So far, he’s read 468 typewritten paragraphs. I don’t think I could have read them any quicker.
daniel do you have a wait for the conclusion of the trial to make any comments on 468 typewritten paragraphs the judge has already done???
Mark – i thought i made it clear. Yes, until a verdict is given it’s sub judice
sorry mate, if the possibility this creeps over any further how long are still in hk for mate??are you staying to the end………..noted you got a big spread in BM TODAY…..WELL-DONE mate….kro
Think you have me confused with someone else fella, I’m not in the paper.
Carson is going to walk
For the cup and Europe I salute him.
It has to be a complicated Decision, because normally the judge would have outlined the outcome and given the written Decision reasoning later. Carson appears to have tried to have done his best for BCFC, but has had to contend with the problems caused by the trial as well as his financial difficulties. I will be most interested to read the Decision.
