Beaten By Own Errors – Reflections on Blues 1 v Antwerp 3
The final friendly of the 2012 pre-season brought Blues down to a bump as they went down to Belgian second division side Royal Antwerp 3-1. Here are my reflections on the game:

To Play or Not to Play? That Is The Question
Today sees the final friendly of Blues’ pre-season and the only one at St Andrews, against Royal Antwerp of Belgium. It promises to be an interesting game with it already being confirmed that Jack Butland and new loan signing Ravel Morrison are to play for the first time at St Andrews.

A Tale of Eight Trialists – AFC Telford v Blues Development Squad
Blues took a young development team to the New Bucks Head to face Andy Sinton’s AFC Telford. Blues included six triallists – Darren Carter and Lee Naylor along with youngsters David Viana, Jeremy Balmy, Wilson Carvalho and Jules Diouf in their side as Richard Beale returned to one of his old stomping grounds.

Sunny Delight: Blues Win in Shrewsbury
Blues ran out 2-1 winners in a tough fought friendly at the Greenhous Meadow in Shrewsbury. Goals from Mitchell Hancox and Nikola Zigic sealed a win for a Blues side that saw trialist Darren Carter come on to rapturous applause in the second half.

Photos from Munich
It’s not something that I would normally do, but I thought it would be nice to put together an article with some photos of the pre-season match in Munich. To do this I am absolutely indebted to Tom Kleine, who runs the fantastic Bluenoses in Germany website.

Good Vibrations
I love pre-season games. They tend to be a bit more relaxed, there is an opportunity to see new players for the first time and it’s possible to get a feel for the way things are. I wanted to take some time to reflect on this a little and share my optimism and positivity for the new season.

An impressive start
The first match of Lee Clark’s reign pointed to what could be a very good year for Blues when they played Borussia Mðnchengladbach yesterday. Whilst the draw might have flattered Blues considering the amount of spurned Gladbach chances, the performance was one of a good quality for the first game back after the summer break and showed signs of promise.
