Supporters Club Forum

Birmingham City are holding a supporters club forum next week at St Andrew’s to address questions raised by fans about the day-to-day running of the club. It’s an important method of communication between the various heads of department at the club and the fans and represents a good opportunity to raise issues that affect the enjoyment of the “matchday experience”.

While the forums never discuss what has happened on the pitch or in the boardroom, I’ve found these affairs useful in the past to get an idea of what the club is trying to do with various promotions and it’s been useful to pass on feedback from fans about how various things have been received. It has to be said that one of the few unequivocal positives of the current regime is that they have committed to holding these forums since they have come in and many fans’ individual suggestions have been considered and implemented.

I have been invited to attend the forum and with this in mind I would like to ask readers if they have any questions to be put to the clubs administrative management team to email me – almajir@oftenpartisan.co.uk – before Friday so I can forward them on in good time for the meeting itself. As always, I will take notes at the meeting and post them up on the site the next day.

I know it’s been a difficult period recently and there is a lot of frustration surrounding the club – I’ve felt it as keenly as anyone – but I think these sorts of things are important and continue to prove that the staff here in the UK really care about the club and really do want the best for it. Having seen the recent situations at other clubs in this division such as Leeds United (who are apparently to appoint the former Forest Green Rovers manager today), and in this region such as Hereford United (who were bombed out of the Conference and may not even be eligible to play in the Southern Premier League) I can only thank our lucky stars that we have some semblance of normality at Stans.

what is their target this season?

  • Thongs says:

Can you ask for the Gil Merrick to be renamed the Zigic End?

  • Kazakblue says:

would it be possible to ask if the backroom staff felt confident about the upcoming season?

  • Kazakblue says:

Blues start with an away trip to Middlesbrough, and end with another away trip to Bolton.
Ask the people there if they can do special trains for the hoards of supporters travelling to away games, such as the old Beau Brummis specials.

    • dave mann says:

how true kazakblue about the hoards of supporters that follow blues all over the country and ime one of them….we have our special coach that we lay on from the forge but those who travel with the supporters club should be well looked after and treated with respect…….cant say that about our home support…..abysmall comes to mind, but then again when your home form is as bad as ours i suppose theres reasons behind that. KRO.

  • dave mann says:

theres nothing like that ” matchday experience” particuly away from home so cant wait for middlesbro on the 9th august in our first game of the season up at the riverside,
tough start but a great test so bring it on……bolton away last game AGAIN…unbelieveble!! KRO.

  • williammorgan says:

I think its disgraceful that so many seats are empty on matchdays ,when so many undecided future football fans at school could be persuaded to become blues fans with organised cheap school coach trips to stans on matchdays …what plans have the club got for such captures…..kro

    • dave mann says:

the thing is though williammorgan would school kids give up there weekends to go to the blues, most kids of secondry age are man u, liverpool, arsenal,
chelsea or man city fans, theyed propably prefer to go to those grounds instead…..we could send vile fans to the pig farm for there cheap school trips.

  • dave mann says:

just signed mark duffy the midfielder from doncaster, 2 year deal.KRO.

    • Richard Granfield says:

The last 2 right wingers Blues has had, Larsson and Burke were blond and of. medium height. Now we have Mark Duffy who is blond and medium height.
Good job they will not be playing in the same team as they would be difficult to tell apart.
I always remember Gary Childs and Ian Handysides RIP also looked very much alike from the stands.

      • dave mann says:

i will settle for a larsson or handysides RIP type winger, take on the full back and get the crosses into green, thomas or donaldson…. yeah quite happy with that one. KRO.

    • Staffs Blue says:

Good signing. He’s quick, tricky and likes to run at defences. Well done again Lee Clark!

      • dave mann says:

its what we need with burke leaving so lets see what hes made of. KRO.

        • Staffs Blue says:

He looks a far better player than Burke. Quick, direct and crosses a lovely ball…. in less than half an hour I might add.

          • dave mann says:

he will do for me then staffs, though is goal record for a winger is not great but hopefully he will have a few assists. KRO.

          • Staffs Blue says:

If you take a look on You Tube, you’ll see that when he got the ball, the strikers all knew where to go. That’s the sign of a player who is consistent in his delivery. That’s worth it’s weight in gold.

    • OftenPartisan says:

No disrespect, but what has this to do with the article?

If you want to discuss new news, use a forum please. This isn’t a forum.

  • The Flying Pig says:

Can we have a clear, unequivocal guarantee that STH’s will not end up paying more for attendance at first team home league games over the course of the coming season?
Secondly, please pass on thanks for the great job the Admin team do in what must be extremely trying circumstances.

  • Mark Gibbs says:

Can you ask if the superb gourmet food will be carried on this year, it really improves the match day experience, rather than the old fashioned pies and inedible burgers?

  • Raymondo says:

Our latest signing, Mark Duffy fron Doncaster Rovers is described in the Mail as a nippy, tricky winger who likes to get his crosses in which Chris Burke did not do often enough. Got to be an improvement!

  • Knowle Blues says:

Please suggest ‘BIRMINGHAM CITY FOOTBALL CLUB’ – Signage / lettering mounted to the blank white steel sheeting at the rear of the Railway / Gil Merrick stand…. Such a prominent building/surface area that can be seen for miles; stands proudly over the city centre and visable to major transport links. This is a ‘blank canvas’ in such a prime position, its currently a wasted opportunity that could be realised at minimal cost.

  • williammorgan says:

Dave m blues was the first team I was taken to see ,and I was overwealmed by the passion and excitement and I was hooked ..it would be good for the players to

  • bluenoserob says:

good that people are looking positively on the signing of Duffy (everyone loves a tricky winger) and im sure he had a good game or 2 for doncaster .However if hes a better player that chris Burke i will be pleasantly shocked .

    • Raymondo says:

If only we had a winger like Stan Lazaridous these days. He was my favourite “tricky winger”. Bur if think this charcter Micky Duff is much more quick and direct than Chris Burke. He just beats the full back and crosses it . He doesn’t try to beat the rest of the defence and then lose it.

  • Raymondo says:

Could we have some more “kids for a quid” days as in the Sullivan/Gold era or does it have to be “kids for a fiver” or similar these days. That’s the best way to get our future supporters in! Taking the family to a football match is hellishly expensive. Admission, refreshments, programmes all adds up. Especially if I have to bring them from Ashby-de-la-Zouch. I’ll be glad when we I move back to Brum at the end of the year. KRO

  • mark says:

Absolutely right Daniel it not all doom, its hyped up to make it worse than it really is IMO……blh are simply going no where maybe for two years, Clark has been given the go ahead by blh to continue re-building the team, and IMO will be the manager who will lead us in the championship for the forthcoming campaign, regardless of those who want shot of him…..inclarkwetrust….. Happy days kro

  • mark says:

one point Daniel if you may address can request about match day admission changes which around the £32 , can these be reasonably be reduced to a more realistic amount? Thanks Daniel good luck at the forum…….:-)
