Cardiff Preview in Association with EZE Group
Russell Slade’s Cardiff City visit a Birmingham City side riding the crest of the Rowett Revolution today with Blues knowing that another home win could well drag them out of the drop zone.
Cardiff City
Cardiff City lie in 12th place on 22 points, seven points and eleven places ahead of Birmingham City. While their form over the last six games (three wins and three defeats) looks inconsistent, Cardiff have won their last three home games and lost their last three away, failing to score in any of those games.
Kenwyne Jones will not play as he is on compassionate leave in his native Trinidad and Tobago; Anthony Pilkington is available again after illnesss but Kagisho Digacoi is definitely out.
Blues
Gary Rowett could well name an unchanged side for the second time in succession with the only short term injury worry being Lee Novak. Demarai Gray has now fully recovered from a knock and could compete with Koby Arthur for a place; however with the positive result against Watford I believe Rowett will be loathe to change too much.
For the first time in a long time I have hope of us winning at home; Cardiff have a poor away record and Blues look to have rediscovered how to play football. No doubt I’m jinxing things by saying this, but for the first time in a while I’m confident of a win.

I’m quietly optimistic, blues never do things the easy way but I expect us to compete and we need another win. 3 wins on the spin should start to ease our position although other teams around us are now also picking up points. KRO
It will be interesting to see the reception for the 3 returning ex-Blues’ players namely messrs Macheda, Morrison and Adeyemi.
My prediction will be that 2 will be warmly received and 1 will not.
I wonder which one that could be Richard, but lets hope they have a miserable day and are all wondering weather they made the right decision or not… 3-1 for me and out of the bottom three , get in there!!!.kro .
We need a win after Bolton’s defeat of Wigan last night and it would also move us ahead of the latter on points. If we play like we did tuesday there’s every chance.
Yeah we do because a draws not good enough on goal difference so positive thinking and go for the jugular.kro.
i feel this is in the players hands, they served up a treat against watford, are they capable of back to back home wins?? will we see 20,000 fans down the stans backing rowett in his new era paying the full prices, and putting their money there there mouths are…..hopefully we will see……….
i feel this could go either way blues could win if Donaldson who has now found his shooting boots……or is this the one that got away Macheda, going to do the busy for Cardiff, and give us a miserable remembrance weekend…..kro
2-1 Blues
Well said mark and let’s hope it’s Cardiff who suffer today and not us and lets keep the good vibe going…..my prediction 3-1 so come on you blueboys!!!!.kro.
Hopeful of a good game and a result that we need, would be nice for another positive win but I’d take a 1-0 own goal :) KRO
To give us a real boost, another home win today will really stoke-up the self belief amongst all our players,
Just as with all fellow Bluenoses, there is a tinge of apprehension there, — but — KRO,!!.
Pitch inspection at 1.25pm.
Passed pitch inspection game on
Referee happy with the condition at the moment. Unless there’s another heavy deluge.
I couldn’t see a problem with the pitch tbh. A bit muddy down by Kop corner, but it looked perfect to me. Ref was a wanker anyway.
Wolves losing 5-0 to Derby with 15 mins to go.
Hopefully another good performance to take us into the international break. If we could win today, with Rotherham away next time out, things could start to pick up. That game’s followed by home games against Forest and Reading, either side of the trip to LC’s new team. Potential of points from all of those, if the lads play like they did on Tuesday.
Bet Victor offering 5-1 for Blues to finish top half…
Win today and we move within 4 points of Cardiff.
Robbo’s 100th appearance for Blues today.
Game of two halves and to dissalowed goals but good point and still unbeaten.kro.
Had Thomas and Gray started I feel we would have taken all 3 points.
Arthur for all his undoubted promise is a year behind Gray in development. Shinnie while good on the ball lacks basic aggression for the Championship and gave Donaldson little support.
Rowett is successfully organising the defensive side of the team as only 1 goal conceded in 3 games testifies.
All in all things are progressing nicely and Rowett can be satisfied with his first 3 matches
I would agree with that. Until he made the substitutions we didn’t really look like scoring. However defensively we were compact, organised and assured. Three games without defeat is progress and sometimg to build on. Today was somewhat spoilt by the sending off and we will miss his pace and strength which made a difference as it did Tuesday. Apparently he is looking to get more players in over the next week or so and I would imagine up front will be a priority.
I don’t think our previous manager would have made those changes with so long to go. Another decent performance today. I think we had the best of the chances.Shame Was let everybody down. The best thing is that the fans are back on side.Good atmosphere again, especially in the 2nd half. Not many players away on international duty so GR now has two weeks with the players. All in all i think the week has been better than we could have hoped for. Well done GR and the team.
Conditions were bad and so was the game, we didnt look like scoring really, but the defence looked assured big improvement.
All in all it was a good performance under difficult circumstances especially in the second half when we could have taken three points, like Richard said maybe playing Thomas and gray from the start might have made a difference but to be fair to Gary rowett and the players he had to go with the same lime up from Tuesday so no arguments from me there, looking forward to going to the New York City stadium in Rotherham on the 22nd when we can definitely get out the bottom three with a win so looking forward to that one….my team for that game after today would be ………. Randolph, caddis,Morrison,Robinson, grounds,Davis, glesson, shinnie, cotterill, gray,Donaldson……that team will beat Rotherham..trust me!kro.
Now Wes Thomas is suspended for three games we are short upfront.
When will the well known emulsion Matt Green be match fit?
He has been out for a year!
Time for Denny Johnstone to be given a go maybe ?
Gary’s looking to get a forward in during the international break so let’s see what happens….:: poor matt green it’s been black for him since he came to blues and he certainly deserves a bit of gloss to come is way because he can finish…bum bum!!!!!kro.
Considering the poor refereeing decisions I think we did well, Hard to tell if it was offside from my position but at the worst he was level looking at replays.
Another solid display and building from the back, even Randolph was punching better, needs to improve his kicking now, he still fills me with dread when he comes for crosses, he is still not decisive enough in my opinion, but he is getting better.
Novak should be fit for the Rotherham game but I reckon Johnstone could do a decent job with Donaldson in that game.
When was the last time we went three games undefeated, 2 clean shhets and an unchanged side?
The future is definitely looking brighter.
