OP is Four Years Old
Today marks the fourth anniversary of the Often Partisan blog being fully set up and open to Birmingham City fans. With this in mind I’ve put together some stats about how far it has come and how widely it is read.
Often Partisan currently has:
- 1,987 posts on the blog itself
- 205 pages of static content
It wouldn’t be anything without it’s readers. Since it began on 2 April 2011, it has received
- 7,372,207 all time page views
- from a regular monthly readership of over 30,000 people
- based in 110 different countries around the world
- who have made 72,163 comments
I’d like to thank each and every one of you for reading this site – and I hope you’ll join with me in hoping the next year is the one where we can move on from talking about ownership and go back to the football.

Congrats Dan gr8 website love it keep right on mate
Congratulations. Keep up the good work Dan.
A big thanks for all the tireless work you put into this blog Dan. I know you’ve heard it a thousand times but without you we wouldn’t have a clue. Keep up the good work mate.
Well done Dan.Always read it.
Happy Birthday OP!
Well done Dan
Keep up the good work Dan. KRO
Well done Dan my fellow fury faced blog king
CONGRATULATIONS DANIEL. I HAVE BEEN READINBG YOUR OP WEBSITE FOR SOME TIME NOW AND FOUND IT VERY INSPIRING DURING THE TURBOLENT TIMES WITH THE SITUATION CONCERNING BIHL AND BCFC, YOU DESERVE EVERY CREDIT PEOPLE GIVE YOU FOR THE INTELLIGENCE AND MOST TIMES THE ACCURACY OF THE FACTS THAT IS BEING PRESENTED. PLEASE KEEP UP WITH THE GOOD WORK!! WHO KNOWS, WHEN ITS ALL SORTED, BCFC WILL GIVE YOU A FREE LIFE MEMBERSHIP AT THE MATCHES!!!
Hear hear! When the time is right, we should lobby the club to give Dan life membership.
I wonder they realise just how valuable he is to the club? KRO.
Over the past 4 years I have challenged your views a few times but this is the best and most intelligent site for blues fans by a country mile…
Very big well done dan,personally there isn’t a day goes by when I’m not checking for news on OP,.It must take so much of your time up reporting on the soap opera that is going on.maybe in the not to distant future we will all be reading some football related issues.
The only thing I can say is I think you will be just as busy whoever owns this amazing and unique football club.
It’s my 1st stop for finding out BCFC news.
Congratulations Dan. I hope your hard work and dedication helps you achieve all your aspirations.
Congratulations Dan – an outstanding effort from an equally outstanding Bluenose. KRO.
This is possibly my favourite website.
Let’s face it – if it wasn’t for OP, where would we be able to find out what’s really going on? None of the other blog sites are in the same league and the BM just spout the same formulaic, unresearched drivel we’ve come to expect from them.
If I was the editor of the BM, I’d offer Dan a job as Blues correspondent and give hime a big enough salary and expense account to (a) tempt him away from his current employer and (b) allow him to travel to HK whenever necessary to report on the goings on there.
Keep it up Dan!
Happy birthday Dan and thank’s for all your hard work .Where would we be without this site! KRO.
Happy Birthday OP. I’d like to bet you’ve aged 10 years in the last 4 Dan!!, but where would we be without you especially in the last 18 months or so. I think a star on the Birmingham walk of fame is long overdue.
Congratulations on 4 outstanding years. OP is the first port of call for all Blues fans for GENUINE Blues news. Eat your heart out Villa Mail!!
We Bluenoses are so lucky to have such a well-informed and clearly presented source of information on what’s going on at the club we love. I doubt if any other UK club can match OP for info and insight into what’s happening ‘behind the scenes’. Good job!
Congrats Dan, long may o.p continue it is now an essential for all Blues fans.
Congratulations
Well done Dan, a voice of common sense and reason amongst all the hysteria. Keep up the good work mate.
Dan great work mate.I’ll be honest you have been a constant source of information. Must admit that without OP i wouldn’t have a clue what was going on with the Blues ownership.In truth (like many) i STILL dont totally get it but OP has helped the brain freeze!!!
Lets hope the next four years see’s the club back on its feet
KRO
Happy birthday OP and congratulations Daniel.
You’ve built the sort of website supporters of other clubs *wish* they had for their team. One that goes way beyond the typical footy blog and into proper, rigorous journalism, holding those in charge to account.
Here’s to four more years!
CONGRATUATIONS!!!!
For me and others a statuary daily read. KROt
Great work Dan, and OP just gets better. You are the primary source for any legitimate news and info about Blues in my eyes. Keep it up!
Congrats and thank you, very rarely comment but regularly read this site and your comments on SHA, without them I wouldn’t have a clue what’s going on! So appreciate the time and effort you put in.
You have provided a fantastic resource for Blues fans to find out whats going over the past 4 years both throughout this site and also the book and without you I think I would have gone crackers wondering what was going on. Best of luck for the future and I hope that you can get a decent financial reward for all of your efforts.
Praise well deserved OP. You’re the first & only source of independent Blues news I regularly read. Suffice to say, I check your feeds religiously due to your uncanny knack of generally knowing the information first AND MORE IMPORTANTLY you tell it how it is, without spin or bias, good or bad news. Thank you & please keep right on doing what you’re doing!!
Congratulations mate. Your blog is
* accurate
* regularly updated
* informed
* interesting
* influential
* balanced
* separates fact from fiction
* widely read
Surely it deserves some kind of award.
I bet PP & co rue the day OP was born, nice one Dan. 4 today long live OP.
Many Congratulations Dan on achieving the best footballing blog site in the UK. For us Bluenoses you have provided a new dimension to our engagement with our club via yourself and the many great Noses who contribute to your site. Thanks also for your tenacity to pull teeth to clear the muddy waters and get to the truth. This work has also sparked a reaction and made a difference at all levels within the club hierarchy. You do more for the club in supporting its supporters with worthwhile information than any fully paid media person on the clubs books. Keep up the fantastic work and Keep Right On, Whiskers and all!!
Hi Dan congratulations on 4 years as I live in South Africa I can keep up with the comings and goings at the home of football. Well done mate.
Congratulations on a great site for genuine blue noses who sincearly care about there football club along with yourself Dan , lets hope next season we are talking more about on field than off field and I applaud you on another four years . Kro & lol
Dan- we have had many exchanges differences of opinion but your work and reporting is so appreciated without it I believe CY and co may have go off a lot lighter- and besides all the off field drama your other info and up-dates are usually spot on eat your heart out Tom Ross- and especially Franksie and co @ WM Radio ( really should be re-named Wolverhampton Wanderers we love and adore you radio and stuff all the others especially BCFC) -your are Premier League compared to that lot , in another 4 years new owners ( local ) and in top half of the Premiership ?, keep on dreaming but most of all K.R.O
Daniel I wish you continued good health and fortune for you and your family. Keep up the excellent work.
KRO
Graham
Many congratulations Dan on guiding OP so successfully to it’s 4th birthday.
Your mix of serious investigative journalism and regular informative updates on the goings on at our great club have provided us all with a superb one-stop news source.
Keep up the good work and thank you for everything that you have achieved thus far.
Long live OP!
Retired two years ago and check it out every day. Thoroughly enjoy all the contributor comments. Congrats on your fourth anniversary Dan.
Congratulations Dan. Keeping up to date via your blog while on holiday on sunny Koh Lanta in Thailand.
Keep up the fantastic work Daniel, one of the only bright spots here in Kazakhstan, you keep me going all through the long winter and very hot summer months. Happy Birthday :))
Dan
It is difficult to add to the many acolades given to your 4th anniversary for all the hard work and accuracy you put into keeping the fans informed in our troubled times.
Suffice to say many many congratulations and also to your friend Will in HK who is a great source for your information.
Take Care
KRO
May I add my sincere congratulations, and thanks for what has become for me the only Blues site worth visiting for accurate news. Well done and hopefully many more years to come.
Congratulations Dan. You prove that “the little man” can have a big voice. No matter what the final outcome is in HK, you certainly rattled them and could have done no more. I appreciate that you are a freelance writer. I just hope you are adequately rewarded by the Official News Agencies that quote your work.
Congratulations on four years of an excellent, well-written blog! :)
Congratulations Dan – O.P. has become required reading for most blues fans. During these recent troubled times for the club, the ONLY sensible information has been provided by this site. I like Tom Ross, but he’s proved to be light weight and the Villa Mail has proved to be just that.
Keep up the good work.
Hi Dan,
Your site is the only place to go to for what is happening re BCFC off the field. Since Tatts left the Mail there is no point bothering with it IMHO. As others have said, without you where would we be?.
Thanks for the book, a second is a must if you have the time. As for the future of OP obviously your work/family balance will dictate, but surely there must be a place for you somewhere whatever happens!
Thanks for everything so far, and hopefully, long in to the future.
KRO
Dan
Its all been said but congrats and well done. Always informative factual and honest long may it continue.
Thanks Dan congratulations on op kro lets all hope we can talk about football and not bih very soon kro again
Top blog-top man!
Well done Dan.
If Carlsburg did blogs…They would probably look like this.
Nice one Dan. A huge thanks to you, (and Will too)!
Happy Birthday to OP and I think it goes without saying in the absence of any decent coverage in the local media we have relied on your blog these last few years and hopefully long may it continue (unlike the regime).
yes – thanks very much for all the brilliant work. This blog is superb.
Congratulations, Dan. Thanks very much for your outstanding work and dedication.
congratulations , dan , happy 4th birthday , looking forward to the next 4 and beyond ?, keep up the good work. thanks for all the hard work you have put in over those 4yrs , kro ..
Dan

Thanx from western Canada Dan – glad you are there
Happy Birthday
Thanks for keeping up the tireless, consistently accurate informative and excellent work!
KRO
congrats, only place for reasoned argument and decent information
keep it up
KRO
Many congrats Dan, as recent new reader I find your site much better than other Blues dedicated web sites. The information you provide us with concerning the events in Honk Kong is the best and most in-depth to be had on the net. Keep up the good work. Well Done.
Jimbo.
Congratulations Dan, you’ve achieved a lot in relatively short period of time, not so much for yourself, but mostly for your fellow supporters of Birmingham City. You should rightly be proud of what you have done so far and from the comments above, hopefully you understand how much it is appreciated.
KRO
Keith
Hi Dan,Happy birthday to you and will.I know that I speak for many many bluenoses when I say that without your info about our beloved club we would be stuffed.Keep up your excellent work and thank you so much.KRO.
well done on a fantastic achievement Dan! OP is the first thing I check every single time I’m on Twitter and I’m sure that is the same for fellow bcfc fans! Keep up the great work and thanks again! KRO
Have to agree with every comment above. Congratulations & thanks for all your hard work. Have read your book on my Kindle and although I don’t comment on the site v often I read it every day. KRO.
Happy birthday Dan, absolutely brilliant blog here’s to many more good years reporting the blues.
Hairy bugger for a four year old LOL
Congratulations Daniel. Many, many moons ago when the Blog was a mere embryo you discussed with some of us how far you thought it would go.
I bet the answer has far surpassed your expectations.
Well Done
well amazing and a success in its self maybe at this rate you should apply for honorary and freedom of the city…………keep up the good work always allow yourself to be open and transparent…..i believe you won more admirers this way…..good luck for future years….Aka MARK
SORRY could not help it blues to win today miles ahead on the head to head against the Roths nice alittle double THE WIN AND 2,5 goals over by the way happy birthday OP.
Ime going 3-0 today mark with a couple from Donaldson and a shinnie special, my team today would be Randolph, Caddis, Morrison, Kiernan, Grounds, Davis, Teache, Cotterill, Fabbrini, shinnie, Donaldson … I don’t think it will be because shinnie will warm the bench with fabbrini playing that role and gray on the left and maybe even Robinson playing instead of Kiernan so I think I’ve covered all areas there , have a GOOD FRIDAY everyone !! Kro& lol
sweet Dave happy good friday to all….yes it up to GR to gee up the players and not let the players just turn up and collect their salary….lets be entertained today for sure the weather is crap. And i could do with jumping up and down in this bloody weather. Wonder what the crowd be maybe 15,000??…
Dave couldn’t disagree with that team selection, that should blow the the roths away lol
It’s ashame that they didn’t drop the prices today instead of charging full price as its a bank holiday and could have put a few more on the crowd … Yeah I agree mark at around 15/16,000 attendance but lets hope it’s closer to 20,000 but I dout it even though we will have fabbrini and shinnie hopefully both playing who are our two best footballers and there the type of players I want to see at Stans and get bums on seats in my opinion . Kro
Thanks for everything so far Dan
Great site
Here’s to many more
Congratulations Dan, the best Blues news pages by a country mile
Yet another milestone in your journalistic life, fantastic achievement in such a short space of time and if you look at what you are doing now for this blog with video pod casting etc it certainly is in the 21st Century.
Long may it continue even after the demise of those who have given so much pain. Maybe a monthly podcast with the owners?? Just a thought.
