Wolves Preview in Association with EZE Group
Gary Rowett will be hoping his side can bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to win against close rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves
Kenny Jackett’s men are very much in the promotion shake-up, lying in 6th place on 71 points with five games remaining on the back of four successive wins. Since the start of December they’ve only lost twice on their travels in the league – and they’ve scored eleven times in their last four matches.
Michael Jacobs has been recalled from his loan spell at Blackpool and could feature in the squad.
Blues
Rowett will be forced into a change thanks to Paul Robinson’s one match ban for his red card last weekend – however he has a choice of Rob Kiernan, Jonathan Spector or even Gavin Gunning to fill the centre back slot. Gleeson returns to fitness and will compete with Rob Tesche and former Wolves man David Davis for a spot in midfield while Diego Fabbrini could make his debut – albeit in a protective mask following a broken nose sustained in training.
As much as I’d love to see us turn over our canine rivals I can’t see it – their front line scares me and I think whoever we pick in defence is going to have fun up against Benik Afobe and Bakary Sako. I’m hoping we can defend well and maybe pick them off on the break – but I’m in no way banking on it.

I said earlier that ide be well happy with a draw today and a win would be fantastic but were second favourites and they have got more to play for than us though saying that if millwall loose and we draw that’s it as we’re have 51 points and they can only get the same but will have at least an18 goal difference so relegation can finaly be put to bed and also lets hope we see the masked Italian today or will there be another reason?? Kro
I would be surprised if we line up much different to this: (I doubt he’d risk Gunning for a game as big as this.)
Randolph
Caddis Morrison Kiernan Grounds
Gleeson Davis
Cotterill Tesche/Fabbrini Gray
Donaldson
If we had it in our locker, I would have gone 3-5-2 for this game. 3 centre backs to challenge their 3 forwards, stocked up in midfield and 2 up front. But, as it is, I’m looking at a 2-2 draw.
Hope I’m wrong but I think wolves will have to much pace & power for blues I think a draw at best. I will probably moan if we lose but thinking about it wolves have had money to spend and blues have had nothing so their is no competition really we can’t expect to much good luck to the lads. KRO
Ide go Gleeson and Tesche like you for this one staffs and keep fabbrini and shinnie on the bench as it will be a battle out there and luxury players like fabrini and shinnie can come on later when hopefully were still in it and can find a bit of space … Without stating the obvious the score cod be anything but if we can defend like we did at there place ide be well happy . Kro
In Rowett’s first game, we held them, 0-0 at their place… so today will be a good indicator of how we’ve progressed, or not, since then. I think we’re good enough to match them.. if everyone does their job properly. Nobody can account for individual cock ups, but collectively, we have enough.
If we play like we did at Bournemouth for that first half hour then were be wining the game no danger , if we play like the last hour were be well beaten so it all depends which team turns up and how long they want to be competetive for , simple really !! Kro
… or, we could play like we did against Wolves. ;)
To be honest, this season, Blues have been far too unpredictable to guess how each game will go. Games we thought we would get steamrollered in, we haven’t… and teams we thought we’d walk over, have done a number on us. Today, we could actually play a blinder.. or we could roll over and play dead. It’s a tombola as to which team will turn up lol. As I said before, collectively, we have it in us to compete with the likes of Wolves, but whether we have it individually is another thing.
As I’ve said staffs if we defend like we did at the dingles the draw or a win is possible but we rode our luck that day though we did create a few chances of our own so though we all want to see goals ide take 0-0 now to be honest though some fans would rather we attacked for 90 mins and loose a 5 goal thriller but you don’t get any points for that do you !! Kro
We were happy with 0-0 last time, so it would be a good point this time too. I think that after this game, Rowett will know exactly who has the stomach for it next season and who doesn’t. I think he could make a few decisions in his mind after today.
Couldn’t give a hoop today.Wolves need the points more than us.Blues can play today with no fear!! K.R.O.
1-1
We’re either win loose or draw today I know that much !! Kro
If I know GR he will go with Spector and Morrison. No doubt there. It is the Gray situation that is worrying. Do you play him or not. From Wolves angle they would probably not want to face him. Why. Because he is due a decent game . I don’t rate Stearman and co. Very slow. So the team I would put out would be. Randolph,Caddis Spector Morrison Grounds, Davis Gleeson, Gray,Cotterill and Donaldson. Don’t be surprised to see Novak start alongside Donaldson though.
Forgot Tesche.,Sorry.!
Can’t believe David Davis has been left out. :(
Brilliant result KRO
Mathematically safe now. Congratulations to all concerned!
Not only a fantastic win but an all round very good performance, every department won the battle. please god lets get the club sold and some investment to add some real quality to what is a really half decent squad. I have to say Clayton was and has been unbelievable for us this season and as I type Rowett is talking to Tom Ross and I don`t think I have ever heard a manager talk so highly about one player as he is about Clayton. I think we couldn`t complain if we had paid 7/8 million quid for him. Well done the whole team including coaching staff.
Well done Blues. When you think back to where we were with Clark, you couldn’t hope for more.Just need to be bought out now and it could an interesting season next time round. KRO
Terrific performance they outfought Wolves, Make no mistake this is all down to one man MR Gary Rowett, I dont think he is the best manager in the world and he has made mistakes but I don’t recall him making the same mistake two games running.
When we think back to the dark days of Clark what has been achieved is remarkable, I still can hardly believe the state we were in,some people were blaming the owners, the program sellers, everyone bar the imbecile.
Just in time the Greek listened to most supporters and cut us lose from his clutches well done for that, that act alone has saved our status.
Going back over the years I cant recall a manager doing so much damage to us people tell me to forget it as Clark has moved on but I cant forget, he would have taken us down and down.
Best home performance of the season.Well done GR,everything was spot on today.Tactics, selection, even though i was surprised by that. The dingles never got a look in. We made them look a very average team. The one thing worse than their team was the pathetic 4000 following. They let their team down today. I thought we would get beat today, but even at 1 0 down,i wasn’t concerned.
