Can Blues Ladies make the Continental Cup Final?
Birmingham City Ladies face Arsenal Ladies today in the Continental Cup semi final at Boreham Wood FC hoping they can continue their recent trend and win against much higher rated opposition.
Arsenal Ladies have pedigree, having won three of the last four Continental Cup titles on offer and will be expected to win the game having beaten Blues Ladies in the League 1-0 last weekend to help them finish third in the table.
Blues Ladies, who finished 6th had a rocky start to the season but returned following the World Cup break to much better form, winning five games in a row prior to the defeat last weekend.
For Blues Ladies, much focus on their Three Lionesses duo of Jo Potter and Karen Carney as the heartbeat of the team; however it would be foolhardy to overlook the defensive partnership of Kerys Harrop and Aoife Mannion which has become the rock Dave Parker’s outfit have built their current form on.
Indeed, in the five victories prior to the Arsenal game last weekend Blues Ladies didn’t concede a single goal and they were unlucky to lose by a single goal last weekend with Sophie Baggaley again in excellent form, deputising for the injured Becky Spencer.
The match is live on BT Sport from 2:30pm BST and I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing the Ladies well in their hunt to bring more silverware home with the name of Blues on it.

I’ve watched our ladies many times and up until this season were one of the top three teams in the country .. They had a dodgy start but we were missing Carney for a good start of the season along with Linnett but have turned it around recently and will be watching it live this afternoon .. Where’s the final being played by the way ? .. Anyway good luck girls . Kro
New York Stadium, Rotherham, 1 November.
Went there last season Dan and it’s a lovely stadium .. Pen that date in my diary at about 5pm .. Come on girls!! Kro
Our blues ladies will win ,this is their time for fame, don’t look back glory is ahead of you , your a bluenose we are all behind you ,she who dares wins , take them break them forsake them, you are our champions , keep right on .

Bit of a bogey team for us, the Arse. Let’s hope we get one over them today. Good luck girls, do us proud!!
Unless were talking cup finals. Kro
Adam, we’re talking women’s football not men’s .. Get a grip . Kro
Dave it was meant tongue in cheek, and was also a game we were not expected to win. kro
Oh dear. Arsenal definitely have the hex on us. Ex-Blues player with the third too.
Well done did reaching the final in a season where we have backwards compared with our peers.
On another note it looks like B6 are waiting for Rogers to give them the green light and they will sack Sherwood
The words frying pan and fire spring to mind. Other than at Swansea, Rodgers hasn’t pulled up any trees.. and look at the dosh he’s spent.
I sincearly hope cockney Clark keeps his job and the vile keep the faith because he’s the right man for them to get relegated and for us to rejoice at the end of the season .. Though Ime not sure if we’re be in the same division next season . Kro
I’d love to see it, but I can’t see Sherwood lasting the season… unless there’s a massive turnaround in form. Also, if he does get the tin tack, I’d be surprised if anyone else took a chance on him.
Brendan Rodgers in the frame, that could be disasterous and spoil what could be a good season! Kro
I agree Adam , if they sack Sherwood and bring in Rodgers then the vile will stay up .. Dlssasterous is correct . Kro
