The Carson Trial: Final Hearing Date Set

It’s been confirmed by the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal that the judgement in Carson’s appeal against his convictions on five counts of money laundering will be handed down on Monday, July 11 with the hearing beginning at 10am HKT (3am BST).

Carson Yeung

The judgement marks the end of the lengthy legal process Carson has been through and will be the final decision on his case; there can be no further appeal. Although it’s the endgame for Carson it’s more of a footnote for Blues as the deals agreed between Carson and Ernst and Young mean that the transfer of power to Trillion Trophy Asia will go through regardless of the result.

Likewise, although the restraint order against Carson’s assets can be converted to a confiscation order should his conviction be upheld, I understand from sources in Hong Kong that will not affect his shares in BIH meaning there will be no additional problems in the transition of ownership.

According to the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal website, neither the judges nor Carson have to be in attendance; Carson can send his solicitors to pick up a copy of the ruling on Monday morning. The judgement will also be posted on the Hong Kong judiciary website within a couple of days of it being handed down.

there every chance this could be thrown out of court….Carson raised the stakes by putting the big guns in. will it be red or black……i still love looking at that cup and seeing wilshere face the same one he showed wearing a england and Arsenal shirt…..sheer class

  • mark says:

we live in land of dreams you bought us a cup which is envy of vilers who have won a thing this century long may that continue…….to all the happy bluenoses ;)

  • Waycoolblue says:

In one way I want him to win his Appeal. Because at the end of the day we will be OK new owners new vison new journey so it would be nice to see him go off in to the sunset never to be seen agene .

  • ZR says:

how much does he get from doing haircutting next

  • Preston Bob says:

If Carson can pick up a copy of the ruling tomorrow when is it likely we will get wind of what it says, do we really have to wait until Monday?
To be honest I am now more interested in which players we bring in next.

  • zxcv says:

Ah you have edited your blog,

  • Bluey says:

For some reason i don`t give a toss what happens to him now. He`s becoming old news…let`s move on.

  • Mitchell says:

With the Carson era now at an end,I feel personally that some gratitude has to be given for the way he backed McLeish in that 2011 season. Carling Cup success will never be forgotten and the points tally of 40 points. Albeit not enough to save us. Peter Pannu was and always will be the heartache for every living bluenose.Bluey however is right,we now on.

  • Mitchell says:

    Move on.

  • Kazakblue says:

    As I am amongst the hundreds who are totally fed up with the CY saga, I thought I would just change the reading habits for a minute or so;

GRANADA are close to completing a loan deal for highly-rated Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral, according to reports.
Reported that Wenger will not give him a chance this season in the arsenal midfield and Granada may have to option to buy

  • Dave Mann says:

Good move by them and he his Spanish so understandable but would love to have him back on loan with us with the view to a permanent deal but maybe we can’t afford it , God knows ! KRO

  • williammorgan says:

To get the likes of toral we needed to move fast , while he was missing the lads , but as you say Dave if we could afford him ,

  • williammorgan says:

    Roofe to Leeds….

  • We need to keep Donaldson , he didn’t score as many last season but he was still the championships most accurate target man with 61% of his shots on target , which is good going being as he was marked a lot more , he does need help and cover , I feel GR will Sign Lafferty but some of the £10, million should be spent in january on a ball playing passing striker as GR as stated so we can play catch up or all out to win …

  • Kingstanding Maximums says:

We got Tesche and Fabbrini, do we really need Toral a very similar player to the two mentioned. Money spent on Toral would be better putting towards a forward or two which we definitely need, Donaldson has become a very predictable player, playing in a very predictable formation, playing in a very predictable team. We need a big shake up on the playing side. Tired and Weary.

  • BhamCityJulian says:

CY brought optimism to the club and on that wave we won the Carling Cup. However once he knew he couldn’t finance the club anymore he should have done the decent thing and sold. But of course he couldn’t do that even if wanted to because he wouldn’t get his money back. This was before his assets were frozen.

I have mixed feelings if he knows he is innocent regardless of the decision.

  • zxcv says:

EGM delayed up to a further 11 day. New date should be around 9th or 10th August. Grrr

  • Dave Mann says:

Which means it will take till the end of the year before its all finalised ..as long as it’s before the January transfer window I don’t think it will mater that much so not to depressing to be honest . KRO

  • Mitchell says:

Looks like Aluko to Fulham and possibly Bradshaw to Rotherham. Not really happy if reports are true about Richardson and Kightly. Aluko would have been an improvement for us but then again if continual delays of the takeover persists then bargaining powers are not good.

  • zxcv says:

Mitch, I am beginning to wonder if they do not want him to have the bulk of the money to spend and he is tiding us over till Jan window when a decision will be made on him. I know Dan won`t agree as he believes funds won`t be available until the deal is done, but I believe different and money is already in place as we didn`t spend any of the money that was in place already from loans secured on the ground and other money ie from the Dimi Grey sale to Leicester plus I believe they could find a way to fund us even more if they so desired. So my dollar is on they may not want or even trust him with serious dosh. my opinion.

    • Mitchell says:

Zxcv. I think your view is shared by many of us if we were all being honest.Delays always fuel scepticism and boy have we had our let downs over the past few years.Only natural for us to question why we always have to wait. My hope is that we do get it done by year end and as Dave says hopefully money for January window. Also hope that we can hold our own until then as recent signing do not fill me with a great deal of confidence.

      • Hillfield Blues says:

It’s not a view shared by me.There is non of the 10 million or whatever available till the January window even if Alex Ferguson was in charge.Nothing to do with holding funds back because they don’t trust him.

    • BhamCityJulian says:

Yes you could be right. They are waiting to be convinced I expect

    • almajir says:

No, I don’t believe different zxcv, I KNOW different. Precedent is there as I’ve pointed out in the past.

      Trust me.

  • Dave Mann says:

The same Alex Ferguson who sold Pogba to juventus and now the club he advises ofering £100 million to buy in back ,classic !! KRO

    • Mitchell says:

Excellent point Dave. Even with the £10m.we still do not know what the details of that sum is to cover. Perhaps it is for transfers etc,but as you posted earlier ‘God Knows’. All a bit wooly.

    • Hillfield Blues says:

      Sorry,Alex Ferguson is an idiot.

    • zxcv says:

spot on Dave, and don`t forget the mess he left for David Moyers to take over, didn`t exactly leave then in flourishing did he. Talking about David Moyers is he still available. WOW we would sell out of season tickets in a week.

      • Hillfield Blues says:

Yeah, they hate him up there that Ferguson!

      • StaffsBlue says:

To be fair, he had built 3 or 4 top sides in his time and won everything in sight. Yes, he left an aging side that needed rebuilding and I would have thought it would have been perfect for a new manager. I wouldn’t blame Ferguson for the fact that successive managers since have made a complete balls up of it… despite throwing hundreds of millions at it.

Yes, he bought his fair share of duds (Pogba, Obertan and Veron to name a few) but no more than any other manager.

  • StaffsBlue says:

At the end of the day, none of us know what the new owners think of the manager, or when they’ll release the bigger funds. They may be holding back the money until January, with their own man in mind, who knows. But I think they have to give Rowett that long at least to see what he can do with this squad. It would be unfair not to.

    • zxcv says:

Well they can`t do much before then anyway as Dave said its going to be near on the end of the year before they get the deal over the line anyhow.

      • Hillfield Blues says:

You’ve just completely contradicted yourself from what you posted earlier when you said that they could ‘fund us if they really wanted”.

  • Rednal Blue says:

Carson loses his final appeal hearing and has to serve the remainder of his 6 year jail sentence.
