GAMEDAY – Fulham Away
Blues travel to Craven Cottage today for their first game after the international break hoping to continue their winning ways against a Fulham team flying at the top of the division.
Fulham
The Cottagers currently lie in 2nd place, having taken 11 points from their first five games and are yet to be beaten in the league this term.
Manager Slavisa Jokanovic may hand debuts to three new signings today – Lucas Piazon, Chris Martin and Stefan Johansen as Fulham look to continue their fine league form.
Blues
New signing Lukas Jutkiewicz could come in for his first start after coming in on loan from Burnley but it’s too soon for Rhoys Wiggins, who needs time to come up to matchday fitness having not played since January.
Blues may well however start with the team that comprehensively beat Norwich before the break.
Ref
Barring any late changes, Tony Harrington will take charge of this game. He’s been in the middle for five games so far this season, showing 25 yellow cards. His last Blues game was the 3-0 Boxing Day bashing by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough last year, in which he booked two players – Paul Caddis and Jacques Maghoma.
Suspension Watch
One Red Card: Jack Storer ( two matches of a three match ban to serve)
Four bookings: David Davis
Two bookings: Jonathan Grounds
One booking: Clayton Donaldson, Michael Morrison, Maikel Kieftenbeld, Stephen Gleeson and Jack Storer
The cutoff date for a player receiving a ban for five bookings is November 30, 2016
The cutoff date for a player receiving a ban for ten bookings is March 11, 2017

Perversely we might need another resounding defeat for Gary to be more radical with his changes: Wiggins to be ‘fit’ for the next game; Fabbrini’s creativity to be reintroduced; Jusklaiven to be given given 30-40 minutes a game to see if he is an upgrade on Donaldson
Why do we have to lose, to force a change in selection? Why can’t we just not change a thing and win?
Wiggins isn’t fit though.
Jusklaiven? Who he??
Sorry have just put Jutkiewicz in my autocorrect
3-3 guaranteed.
2-2 for me Bluey and brook to win in six !! .. On the thames having a beer , lovely jubbly . KRO
I think Brook will be stopped late on or lose on points. Hope you`re right though. KRO
2-1 Blues me.
1-0 to blues if GR is feeling insecure , 4-2 to blues if GR is feeling confident . Get it in there SUPER BLUES
Heart tells me Blues 0-2 but my head says a heavy 3-0 defeat lets hope the heart wins KRO.
Blues 0-2? Do you mean Blues 2-0
Yes he does Roger .. Was are away . :-) KRO
We , sorry !
If Maghoma and Donaldson are fit, I can see the same team and tactics as against Norwich, as Rowett doesn’t really like to change anything after a win. If not, maybe Gleeson in for Mags and Jutkiewicz for Donaldson, but I can’t see much change beyond that.
I see no reason why we can’t beat Fulham and I’m going for 2-1 to Blues.
What’s the odd’s on Donaldson scoring again today?
7,000/1
Like it mate, quality answer . :-) KRO
Yes it was.
Fancy A bet Bluey . KRO
Wish i’d had a tenner on that.
I see D M is wearing his black armband again ..Ha Ha…
Ha ha! KRO
Same team as last match.
37 year old as our only defensive cover isn’t good enough
That’s a disgrace.
?? Lighten up FFS.
Please don`t anyone tell me Caddis is not even good enough for the bench, Rowett is a disgrace.
Donaldson missed 2 out of 3 penalties. Rowett needs to tell to leave it alone now.
Why it’s working. Caddis is fat and out of shape. He don’t fit our new stile ever GR know more than you he know what he is doing today is proof of that what more dues he have to do to convince the talented MR zxcv.
Thank god nobody listens to you.
H-T .we’re on song…
3 RD in the league .. DONALDSON SCORES AGAIN….Super blues ..KRO
Should never have been that close. How we haven’t matched last year’s 5 goals I’ll never know.
On a separate note… Best wishes to Charlee Adams, who was was taken off on a stretcher after a bad tackle in the Kilmarnock game. The Dundee player was sent off.
Who cares ? We won. Forget the negatives,we won away again with another clean sheet. Get off Rowetts back. He’s had no money to spend and he’s doing a great job. Give him the credit he deserves. This is aimed at you OP as well.
Brilliant game we dominated from start to finish In a attacking stale we could have and should have scored 4 .And No it was nothing like WBA. I Told you all to trust GR KRO SOTV
Good to win but get Donno off the penalties. He showed bottle taking the second agreed but if there hadnt been a second…. Would love to know the truth about the Caddis issue.
According to the official BCFC twitter feed, Maghoma was supposed to have taken the 2nd one.
Doesn’t matter now does it ?
Caddis was part of Gary teams v1.n which attained mid-table status. He is now at the late beta stage of v2.0 which is play-off challengers. Caddis and (Grounds) won’t be first choices for that.
It wasent a brilliant game which we didn’t dominate for 90 mins ..get a grip man . KRO
Yes we did I was at the game was you. Kuszcak had one save to make all game button made 5 saves first half and 6 in the second. The game had everything that is what makes a Brilliant Game.
Really ..wow ! KR0
You’re right Dave. A good hard fought win.
8 shots on target to Fulhams one , 25 attempts who wouldn’t get excited ..KRO
Yep your right. And button for me there GK was MOTM.
**Their***
That’s a disgrace. is a fan that cant get behind the manager. And players that are on the pitch. why cant you just celebrate a brilliant away win. Raver than pick at the team and the manager
Ide rather .. Really please ! KRO
I would or I’d…..please! Where does Ide come from? ;-)
Brummie slang mate :-) KRO
Not sure Dave is the man to correct people`s spelling or grammar tbh. lol
Predictive text or auto correct.
Can we forget the spelling lessons FFS
forgotten already I am not offended. No problem
:-) KRO
I agree with way cool blue to go to London and beat a unbeaten team in their on back yard deserves huge respect to Gary and the team and fans , why not be happy and excited to the season to come !?
I am but please keep it in order and stop going overboard . KRO
Well you had to be at the game to understand.
WCB, You can’t win that arguement with Dave. He doesn’t miss a game.
I never said he did but was he at Fulham its not the same on the radio or TV. I was at the match so It’s a advantage when it comes to telling It as it was.
Read my previous reply.
Well if he was at the game he must have been asleep to not know we who the better side was.
Where has he said that we weren’t the better team ? Is this your one away game and you want to let people know you’ve been there ?
I go to about 10 away games a season sometimes more. Regardless of how we are playing and what league we are in I have been a season ticket holder since 1984. I travailed to the Norwich game all the way from Prague and arrived 2 minutes in to kick-off that was the first 2 minutes I have mist since 1984. I remember standing in the Tilton in the ran with empty seats all around me because Blues where losing 2-0 to Blackpool with 30 minutes to go we come back to win 2-3. I was about 11 years old.
I was and we played well and were the better team but I tend not to get to exited because that’s Blues for you . KRO
Agreed fear play to you. But it’s A Day made even better with this result Aston Villa2 – 2Nottingham Forest. Lets enjoy our push up the table IN 4TH Place as Vile anguish over their relegation battle. in 17th place. KRO SOTV
How negative.
It was a very good result, but the performance deserved more than 1 goal.
Even though he scored (eventually) Donaldson shouldn’t be leyt near a penalty again. With the absence of Caddis, the should go to someone like Tesche or Maghoma. Maybe Adams.
I Agree with that.
Staffs would you say their GK was MOTM.?
He certainly kept the score down.
Staffs, Rowett said he told Mags at half time to take them if we got more in the second half, seems they ignored him. Fulham were just so awful I couldn`t believe my eyes and 1-0 for me was nothing to rave about but the performance was quite good. We should or could have had two more Penalties imo. Maghoma was my MOTM by miles. But yes the truth is a half decent team would have scored at least once which would have dropped us 9 places down so I agree with whoever it was who said don`t get to carried away, but at least its a good confidence builder.
The real reason we will never be a top club is because we aren’t built for it, one away win and it’s handbags at dawn! On a serious note decent performance, caused them problems and a good result. Would backup Staffs comments about Donaldson not taking penalties. He has openly admitted going against GR orders, and I hope that gets dealt with, match winner or not. Also as I said earlier it doesn’t sit well with me having only Robinson on the bench as defensive cover. Even if Caddis is out of the picture then put one of the kids on the bench, did Cogley get injured in the u23 game? He was never going to use both Brown and Fabbrini so one of those was just wasting a space on the bench imo
It’s a bit risky having only 1 defender on the bench. There should be a utility player in there too at least. Trouble is, the only one we have is playing right back atm.
DONALDSON used to be a pretty good penalty taker , perhaps with Caddis being the regular ace in the pack he is a bit rusty , Stats say he is the second best P .T. in the squad ..
Well well a repeat of last season in performance not goals. A pleasant surprise
Good result mates…3pts is 3pts and the sign of a champion is to be able to get up and win when he’s knocked down. Clayton did just that.
I wonder if GR will drop him for the next game for clearly disregarding his instructions or orders ? Perhaps he will take the National managers approach and let senior players do and play where they want.
Back to back wins make for good Sunday mornings.Next game at Reading should see same team-barring injuries. Adams and Tesche appear to have made the difference leaving Donaldson a much more threat with someone up with him. On a different note-those of us who do not attend many away games have relied on Dave Mann’s brief summing up of every game he watches. These concise reports reflect imo a balanced and honest view without going OTT. These reports have been posted for many seasons now and newcomers to this site should take a second and digest what he is accurately saying.
First time we’ve had back-to-back wins since mid-January. Glad that monkey’s off our backs now.
Cheers Mitchell and yes I do give what I think is a honest opinion on what I see and we played well , created chances and kept a clean sheet and got three points against a team that were unbeaten in the league so ime happy with the team and manager but I wouldn’t say it was brilliant .. It was a good performance , no more no less and that’s the way it should be looked at but other fans have different opinions on a performance and that’s fine but I like to keep it real and tell it as it is . KRO
Last two games have been ‘peak Rowett’ – rock solid defence, not much possession, but when we do have the ball we are really dangerous…have scored 4, could have been 7 or 8.
Must admit I’ve been becoming a bit of a doubter – but with results like this, I’m happy to keep doubting for the next 40 games or so!
Great response after the Wolves game where we looked dead in the water second half.If we can maintain this form and stay in contention until January it could be interesting.
Donaldson showed some guts to take the second pen albeit against the managers orders.Thats now missed 2,scored 2,it’s just a good job the misses havn’t cost us.
If I had been out on that pitch giving a usual 100 percent I would be gutted to read many of these comments , a big part of winning is confidence and the will to win , I am suprised some players have not cut their wrists by now , This is the squad we can afford and have got , and they have beaten two teams near to the top , which proves they can be winners ,..I have yet to see the perfect player and and .even if I did he wouldn’t be perfect all the while ..give the players a break , it was an improvement , and 8 shots on target to the supporters one will take some beating , what happens in the middle of the pitch is just entertainment unless you have a shot like Stan Lynn ..it’s around the goalposts where results are forged , except the fact that the entertainment comes at half time , this team is purely honed to win matches and they need comments to keep them going even if you are telling little white ones …so come on SUPER BLUES…
Opponents sorry …
It makes you think William that we can have 25 shots , 8 on target and only have 36 per cent off possession … Imagine if we had the 64 per cent that Fulham had , we would take an awful lot of beating and would improve our chances greatly of promotion but that’s the Rowett way and when it works it’s good but its concistency of performance that needs working on . KRO
Makes sense only having Robbo on the bench as other than Morrison they could could play in multi positions across the back. We have a good little squad now, with playing 3 up front (sort of) it will give us a platform to on the front foot at home which is my only criticism of Rowett so far. Let keep it going and try and grab as many point as possible before other teams that are in transition have time to settle in. KRO
Your right of course Dave but for the present I will take wins over playing great and drawing or like the opposition losing , jokanovic as said blues deserved their win and was the better team , plenty of managers have been sacked for losing against us , you are a valued commentor on this site Dave but GR and the team need time …you and the away fans are doing a great job in helping the team get wins away keep it up. ..KRO
The support yesterday was magnificent though it always is so were keep it up and keep right on till the end of the season . KRO
