Steve McManaman
It’s interesting to see Steve McManaman was on the pitch for ESPN today, giving his views on the match etc. I’d have been more interested to hear what he has to say as an executive director of Birmingham International Holdings Ltd.
McManaman, who has been an executive director of BIHL (and Grandtop before it) since 2007 was paid HK$750,000 (circa £63,000) for his services in 2010. In that period, he attended zero board meetings (pdf link, page 19). Essentially, he’s been paid a not bad wage for having his name attached to the club.
Steve McManaman has known Carson for some time. The above picture was taken when Carson was owner of Hong Kong Rangers (2005/6) – two years before Carson got involved with Blues and four before he took it over. I’d be curious to know how well he knows Carson – especially as Carson remains an enigma for most of us here in Birmingham.
I wonder if anyone had opportunity to ask Steve McManaman what the hell is going on with Carson – I sure as hell would have.

I still laugh because during them early months he got out his Range Rover at St Andrews and we had a close look at the vehicle and I kid you not his road tax was 2 months out of date :)
Listened to Mcmanamans interview on talksport a few days back with interest but ,he avoided any mention of Birmingham City FC,which fits in quite nicely with the `cloak and dagger` philosophy of the Yeung regime.
Perhaps, He was serving notice that he was not staying around,!!!. lol.
Didn’t he leave the board of BIH ages ago. Don’t think he has anything to do with us anymore
No, he is most definitely still on the board.
For instance, check the last announcement made by the board – Dec 28 2011 – http://202.66.146.82/listco/hk/birminghamint/announcement/a111228.pdf – the list of directors is at the end, and Mr McManaman is definitely there.

As my old Mum always told me.Anyone who’s eyes are close together, are not to be trusted!!
I’ve been told almajir, that he still has a role within the club as a form of scout. Christian Karembeau (or however it’s spelt) had the same role. They’re handy to have on the chinese market when promoting the club to chinese nationals rather than Man Utd, Liverpool and the like.
Who the hell cares? Mcmanaman was just advising like Bryan Robson did for that other dodgy chinese guy, cant remember his name. Only Pannu can give us any answers and that is highly unlikely.
I care when it’s money being taken out of the club/holding company when it’s potless.
Yes but Mcmanaman aint gonna give anyone answers, you may as well ask a brick wall!
Good post Almajir. Steve — if you’re reading this, we’d love to know what you are doing to help the Blues. Not much by the looks of it.
Me & my nipper went to see Man U V NY Redbulls in July and just coincidently had seats right next to the broadcast booth where Macca was working. You couldn’t miss us in our Blues shirts in a sea of red & white but he made a point of totally ignoring us in the first half while we were giving Ashley Young dog’s abuse by the way. At half time he came over to us, shrugged his shoulders and just said what a pity it was the way things turned out. Yeah right Stevie.
Just get 3 points on Wed Bluenoses – wish we could be there.
KRO!
So Steve McManaman has been paid in a year a little more than Zigic’s weekly wage. At the moment neither appear to be good value :)
Yeung is pretty tight with his ever decreasing wad, lets face it,he would only give away £1 if it returned £2 sometime in the future…..ok thats business, but if Mcmanaman has no role at the club he would be out the door sharpish….he is still there,so he is obviously doing something, although im not really sure what that `something` is,and nobodys going to tell us.
Token. Does his punditry, gets a ghost to type it up and sends it to CY as a scouting report. Says nowt about the business ’cause he knows nowt (company reports go straight in the bin). Like Zigic, has a contract so has to be paid. Money for old rope but, that’s the way the football business is these days.
Take a look at this video taken in 2006 and see if you recognise 2 people with Steve ;)

Also another one regonise the person at 18 secs :)
