Loanee Update

Jake Jervis, Akwasi Asante and Luke Hubbins were all in action at the weekend for their respective clubs as they continue on their footballing education.

Jake Jervis

Jake hasn’t been able to add to his goal tally at Preston North End in his last couple of games under new manager Graham Westley. Despite starting the game against Leyton Orient he was taken off after just 37 minutes as Westley tried to break the deadlock in that game; unfortunately it was Leyton Orient who found the net and they went on to win 2-0. Preston then drew 0-0 away with Notts County, with Jervis making a sub appearance coming on in the 86th minute. Preston fans seem a bit disaffected with the team’s performance, having only had two shots on goal all game and only one on target. The results leave Preston 11th in the table and Graham Westley still in search of his first win as PNE manager.

Akwasi Asante

Akwasi came on as a sub in Northampton Town’s last game with eleven minutes to go but unfortunately only picked up a booking for the bottom of the league side in their 2-1 defeat to Barnet. Northampton have won only one game in their last seventeen in all competitions and prop up the division, only one point away from safety.

Luke Hubbins

Luke started his first game on loan for the Lambs, but was powerless to stop their 3-0 defeat away to Ebbsfleet United. Hubbins played for 63 minutes on the right wing in the game before being subbed for Danny Thomas. He was rated by the local newspaper as man of the match; unfortunately injury curtailed his debut and may be out for up to four weeks.

Jake Jervis and Akwasi Asantes’ respective loan spells end on Sunday and a decision will have to be made by Blues whether to allow their loan spells to continue or if they wish to recall them to St Andrews. Hubbins is to be assessed by Birmingham City’s medical staff but I have heard nothing further as to what his situation is.

If we do not get a decent striker in,!!. It may be worth while playing Jervis and/or Asante, as ” back-up” strikers to suplement our squad,?.

    Old Blue
i agree if we don’t get anyone in but lets hope we get someone with revelant experience in this division or the prem as these two lads will struggle to be any better than rooney at the moment.

Jervis subbed after 37th minute? Either the PNE manager is a prat or JJ’s performance was woefull (even for that division??) Whether he is beneficial to our squad or not, get him out of there cause it is doing him no good whatsoever.

Hubbins is nowhere near ready for our first team.Nor Asante. As for Jervis,i used to watch him in the academy and i don’t think he will ever be more than a division 1 player. If he’s lucky.

I have also seen Jervis and to be honest dont see alot there.Asante seems to have a bit about him but I think Chris will need back up sooner rather than later.
