Summer of Rest for Spector
Jonathan Spector is one of the more high-profile names omitted from Jurgen Klinsmann’s 27-man US squad for the upcoming friendlies with Scotland and Brazil.
The 26-year-old Chicago-born utility player has missed out on the squad which will also face Antigua and Guatemala in World Cup qualifiers in June, along with Eric Lichaj of Aston Villa in a move which has surprised many fans Stateside.
Spector struggled for fitness in the latter weeks of the season having injured himself in the 3-1 defeat against Leicester and only just returned to make a cameo in the playoff away leg before injury again forced him off in the 2-2 home leg draw with Blackpool.
Spector made 47 appearances for Blues last season.
