Loan Report – Debut Goals and Missed Sitters

It’s been a bit of a bittersweet weekend for Blues on-loan players with three players getting game time but results largely going against them.

Jake Jervis has joined Tranmere Rovers on loan and scored on his debut for the Birkenhead side. However, Tranmere went on to lose the game 3-1. Jervis was on the button straight off for his sixth loan club, forcing former England international David James into a save from an excellent volley early on before netting just before half-time, volleying home Jake Cassidy’s cross from eight yards. He nearly got a second four minutes later but his flick bounced agonisingly wide of the post. Jervis played 73 minutes of the game as Eddie Howe’s men came back strongly in the second half to win the game.

Adam Rooney played the last thirteen minutes as 10-man Swindon Town drew with Scunthorpe United. The Irishman could well have won the game with two minutes to go but dragged his shot wide. It was a similar case in midweek when Swindon drew 2-2 with Coventry with Rooney missing a sitter at the end and it’s not gone down well with Swindon fans commenting online.

Fraser Kerr played ninety minutes for Motherwell as they went down 1-0 to Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday. ‘Well have now slipped to sixth in the SPL although they have a game against relegation-threatened Dundee United in hand but it’s a far cry from the side that were an early leader in the race for the Scottish title.

Graham Hutchison was an unused sub in Lincoln City’s 0-0 draw with Halifax in the FA Cup Qualifying Round. Should the Imps win the replay at The Shay they will play Walsall at Sincil Bank in the first round proper.
