Jamaican Football Federation To Talk To Marlon King Over International Recall
After scoring a hat trick last Tuesday against Millwall, it appears that Marlon King is once again in the thoughts of the Jamaican national team.
King was banned for two games in June 2012 after breaking curfew and has not been picked by the Reggae Boyz for their last five international games. However, with the final qualifying stages for the 2014 World Cup upcoming the Jamaican Football Federation have decided that they made need King after all.
The Gleaner, a newspaper published in Jamaica last week focussed on Marlon’s efforts at the Den, and spoke to former Jamaica head coach Carl Brown who believed that the striker should be recalled to the national side. The newspaper also mentioned that the current head coach Theodore Whitmore has come under criticism from the public in Jamaica for not picking the London-born striker.
Yesterday, the JFF confirmed that it’s President, Captain Horace Burrell along with and his Brazilian assistant Alfredo Montesso are on their way to England to talk to Marlon and to see if he will come back to the Jamaican set-up. King’s agent Tony Finnegan was quoted as saying
“The Brazilian told him that he didn’t fit in the plans of the technical team, and for a player that has always scored so many goals at all levels throughout his career, that certainly did not go down too well with Marlon”
“It’s a strange situation actually, but it’s going to be interesting to see how it goes because we understand that the JFF president is coming here with (Alfredo) Montesso and (Theodore) Whitmore to have a talk, but as I said, I don’t know what Marlon is going to do.”
Marlon King has twenty-one Jamaican caps and has scored 12 international goals.
Edit 10:00 05 November
Marlon King has confirmed that he has retired from international duty.

He scores when he wants, he scores when he wants….. Lock up your mrs, he scores when he wants.
I would dearly love to reproduce here the witty ditty that Blues were singing about him in Maderia. Given the current facist/racist climate I won’t :)
|Hope he tells them to F-off as I’d rather see him doing the business for Blues rather than jet setting around the world for a meaningless friendly
World Cup qualifiers are not meaningless friendlies…
