Referee Watch – Craig Pawson

Barring any late changes, Craig Pawson of South Yorkshire will be in the middle for Blues’ game against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road tomorrow. Here is a look at his stats.

Season Performance

Mr Pawson has officiated in fourteen games this season, showing fifty yellow cards and three red cards. Of those games, six have been in the Championship and in those games Mr Pawson has handed out twenty-two cautions. Last season, Mr Pawson took charge of thirty-five games, showing 106 yellows and nine reds. Of those games nine were in the Championship and in those matches Mr Pawson booked twenty-three players and sent off three.

Last Blues Game Refereed

The last match Mr Pawson took charge of involving Blues was strangely enough also against Blackpool, at St Andrews on New Year’s Eve 2011. Blues fans should remember that game as Blues romped home to a 3-0 win after Mr Pawson sent off Blackpool’s former Blues man Barry Ferguson. Marlon King was also booked in that game. I didn’t mention the ref in my report and Colin Tattum gave him a 6 stating he had courage in his convictions.

Last Championship Game Refereed

The last match at this level officiated by Mr Pawson was the 4-1 away win for Blackburn over Peterborough United on 17 November. In that game, Mr Pawson only showed one yellow card, to the home side’s Joe Newell. The Peterborough Telegraph rated Mr Pawson with a six whilst he wasn’t mentioned in the Lancashire Telegraph report.
