Referee Watch – Robert Madley

Barring any late changes, Robert Madley of West Yorkshire will be in the middle for Blues’ game against Cardiff City on New Year’s Day at St Andrews. Here is a look at his stats.

Season Performance

Mr Madley has officiated in fifteen matches so far this season, showing seventeen yellow cards and three reds. Of those games, five have been in the Championship where he has shown thirteen yellows and two reds.

Last Blues Game Refereed

The last Blues game Mr Madley was in charge of was the 2-0 win over Reading on the last day of last season. In that game, Mr Madley showed two yellow cards, to David Murphy of Blues and Matthew Connolly of Reading. Unsurprisingly as the game was a bit of a dead rubber he didn’t feature in my match report.

Last Championship Game Refereed

The last game that Mr Madley was in charge of in the Championship was the 2-0 win for Middlesborough over Wolves at the Riverside on December 15. In that game Mr Madley booked one player – Grant Leadbitter of Middlesborough – but was the centre of some controversy when he awarded a penalty to the home side for a handball – which was not only criticised by the Express and Star but also mentioned as being disputed by the Middlesbrough Gazette.
