Referee Watch – Darren Drysdale
Barring any late changes, Darren Drysdale of Lincolnshire will be in the middle for Blues’ Championship game against Burnley at Turf Moor today. Here is a look at his stats.
Season Performance
Mr Drysdale has officiated in twenty-four matches this season, showing seventy-nine yellow cards and four reds. Of those, eight have been in the Championship and in those games he has shown thirty-four yellow cards and one red.
Last Blues Game Refereed
The last game involving Blues that Mr Drysdale took charge of was the 5-0 drubbing Blues took from Barnsley at St Andrews on September 22. In that game, Mr Drysdale showed three yellow cards – to Nathan Redmond of Birmingham City and to Stephen Dawson and Craig Davies of Barnsley. I didn’t mention the referee in my match reflections although I will admit that I probably didn’t notice him due to how badly Blues played.
Last Championship Game Refereed
The last game in this division refereed by Mr Drysdale was the 2-1 home win for Peterborough over Barnsley on New Year’s Day. In that game, Mr Drysdale showed seven yellow cards – to Shaun Brisley, Michael Bostwick and Danny Swanson of Peterborough and to Scott Golbourne, Jim McNulty, Martin Cranie and Jim O’Brien of Barnsley. Drysdale was described as “baffling” by the Peterborough Telegraph whilst I couldn’t locate a match report in the Barnsley Chronicle for this game.
