Going Posh – Peterborough Match Preview
Birmingham City travel to Peterborough United today in a match that sees two of the lower teams in the division face off. The Posh have been in good form of late and will be wanting to show that they are more than just George Boyd, who has moved to Hull City on loan earlier in the week.
Peterborough United
The Posh lie 23rd in the Championship but their current form belies that, with the London Road outfit winning three of their last six games, including a 5-1 thrashing of Millwall at the Den in midweek. Peterborough haven’t lost at home in the league since early December and haven’t failed to score at home in the league since October. On the flip side they haven’t kept a clean sheet since Boxing Day and have won only five of their sixteen home games so far this season.
As already mentioned, Darren Ferguson will have to do without George Boyd, but Craig Alcock and the on-loan Davide Petrucci should return after injury. It’s a game too soon for Kgosi Nthle though and Tyrone Barnett remains on the injury list along side long-term victim Peter Grant.
Blues
Blues come into the game knowing that they need points to try to pull away from a bottom three that seem to be picking up wins on a more frequent basis. There are injury concerns for Callum Reilly and Marlon King but Paul Robinson is expected to be fit. Darren Ambrose and 17-year-old Ghanaian forward Koby Arthur have also travelled with the squad.
I hope that Clarky retains the faith with Mitch Hancox as I thought that he played much better than Robinson has of late; however I can see the older man getting the nod. Should King miss out I think Blues will go 4-5-1 with Nikola Zigic as the focal point with Chris Burke, Wade Elliott and Nathan Redmond potentially just behind him and Jonathan Spector and Hayden Mullins the holding men in midfield. As much as Koby Arthur has been included for the experience once again I don’t expect him to be in the match day 18.
I can understand why people don’t see this game as a must-win but I do believe it’s important that we start racking up wins – there is definitely some momentum from the teams beneath us and it’s important that Blues don’t get sucked in in the same way Wolves and Huddersfield Town appear to have been. Peterborough do score goals but are very porous at the back and if Blues can be a little more clinical than they have been of late then they really can take advantage of that.

it is a must not lose game as a minimum. however because of our poor home form (whatever happened to fortress st andrews) i feel we must win after failing to beat sheff wed. down to lee clark and his formation (does he have a plan B ?? )
He doesn’t have a plan A!
Here here!
Maybe he does, great win lads!
fair play – he went with 2 strikers, kept in hancox and reilly – he is definetely reading often partisan. GREAT WIN KRO
Totally agree blue in spain, he had both plan A and B…. plan A Bultand Plan B Zigic and Plan C because he got burke at it now … he who lost the dressing room… oh happy days and villa losing just gets better .. some of you lads should be eating some of Zigic humble pie Bloody freezing at the match..kro Butland kept us in this in the first 20 mins…..And clark said Zigic go on my son give us goal … as we journey on we will sing this song for the boys in Royal blue……sing long if know it..kro
just for one week till we drop a point, can we have a little peace from those that love to stick pins in managerial and executive dolls.
Mark, in my own defense i gave an all round summary of his time here and was in the light of people using his name politically as a stick to hit Clarke with. That don’t mean to say i don’t want him to knock in a few goals. Fair enough???
Im delighted he got a tap in off the keeper and full credit for being in right place at right time.. Hope he does it every week too.
I think if we can have both wingers bombing on and pressurising the defenders, we may get a comfortable win today. if not then it’s a 1-0 Blues win and I will go for Elliot to get the winner. KRO
Another team that cud b dragged in2 the relegation battle are millwall i think i read they have lost 5 on trot in the league dropping like a stone,i agree that this is a must not lose game with hull away next up,but with us not beating sheffield wednesday or watford mayb evens makes it must win!
I do think tho with boyd moving this has got 2 b a massive loss 4 them 2day reports say he was brilliant at millwall in week,so im going for a blues win 2-0…KRO
Well done Ed and well done the Blues Lads..Nice 3 points, and deservedly earned according to the BBC Live Text..
“Clarky”? You sound like you like him again Al! I’ve never heard you use that term of endearment before. 1-1
Doctor Death, his Uncle Clarky to us :)
Mullins? Synonymous with us playing crap so I hope stay firmly rooted to the bench
This where the team needs to pull together, play together win together I believe Clark will get right. Zigic saga is now over. Fans and team and management move as one. Kro blues could possible win here 2-0. Keep the faith…..
Mark i hope that u went to bookies first with that prediction
I cant see us getting anything. My last visual memories of Blues ( Versus Watford) tells me a sound kicking from an in form Posh.
Hope I am wrong.
You were wrong!!
No doubt there will be even less comments if Dan does a match report, we only get over the 100 when we lose, Well done Blues!
Fantastic how good is being wrong I must do it more often.
Good boy StevieW and despite ur name ur obviously not blind and credit to you for at least showing your face here. keep believing StevieW even if you cant see. Positive and negativity, get together in perfect harmony.
Watford game we were well beaten, better team won just accept it…but today is clark’s blue army….kro
Yup and a weeks peace i hope, but wait, when pressure not so much on Clark, thats when its time to go board bashing instead.
But surely its ok to go board bashing?
Why is it Bobbyblue although i think u was being tongue in cheek. Becuz the circumstances were more unfortunate than malicious, but people talk as if it was all malicious. The highest place finish one season, league cup the next. Yes i know you wasn’t serious Bobby just using your comment to make the point really. People harp on abt the seventies team as a magical era, but wasn’t we fighting relegation every year and never really finished high up the league and never won a cup, just saying for a little perspective. But that day out at Hillsbourgh against the then mighty Leeds, was a special day even though we got bumped 3-0. Well league cup 2011 was a special day too and we won. Yes i do get tired of the board bashing, and the bashing in general, no need at all nobody set out to hurt us and if mistakes made, it never once merited the bile and hate.
Unfortunately Football Astrological portents are not particularly in our favour this afternoon. With Mars in alignment with Jupiter during the phase of Waxing Gibbous and the crest of Andromeda in it’s fifth bi-menial assent Blues are in for a torrid time. For those travelling to the game today be wary of a man in a pink shirt with a Doberman Pincher named Alan. However any Taureans born in or near Acocks Green should have a lucky day so make sure you buy a lottery ticket from a shop on a road or street where that road name begins with the letter F. Numbers 1, 4, 22, 33 27 and 34 will be all iimportant!
Goody Predicts
Posh: 3
BCFC: 1
Lol it was funny until I read the score prediction
Even funnier when I saw the result 0-2 Come on you Blues!!!
you got no chance of winning lotto either…lol
Sorry Marky mark but the stars don’t lie. . .
Someone did ….:-)
Too Right!!
I’ve just got back from next Tuesday.
Blues drew 2-2 and the lottery numbers were 7 18 22 29 32 46.
Yeah right, lets see who’s closest Goody
lol
To the end of the road.
KRO

Mark
For the sake of pedantry, only one person BLOGS on this site – me. The rest of you COMMENT.
Just to clear things up.
Dan you love us really x
please accept my sincere mistake. I am cloud nine….
No probs mate.
It’s been a good day…
Doesn’t it show how anti Blues some on here are? They only ever show their face when something goes wrong and that’s why I despise em always knocking our great club on every level. YOU know who you are. Look at the Watford game? A bad solitary loss after a 5 match unbeaten run and they’re on here giving it large, loving it and crowing about it. And what happened at the end of the day? We lost a game.
So much for get rid of Lee, he got everything spot on today and boy were we cold even the blue and white flares couldn’t warm us up.
KRO Lee from all the real Blues fans.
Well done LC, spot on with tactics, squad and formation.
Not bad for a Manager who is clueless, tactically inept, has lost the dressing room, has a squad that doesn’t want to play for him, talks funny, lives down a pit !!
To all those LC knockers, man up and get apologizing
Apologies after one match against a very poor side, they have to be bad for us to beat them .Nothing changes Clark manages on a wing and a prayer, He is clueless and totally inept and I for one cant wait for him to be sacked.
Were you there today Tony?
Course he wasn’t there to busy polishing his keyboard in anticipation of slaying LC for getting beat
Unlucky, must have ruined your night when we won, real fans are celebrating a good win tonight what are you doing Tony?
Picked the right side and got the right result. Clueless and inept? Like you’d know.
Tony, they can do a lot for your depression these days you know. The doctor is a good place to start mate. Wheres mambomentalman today. If wish i could remember all the names but ok calm again, another week in topsy turvy football land is abt to begin. But guys or certain guys, i only ever really wanted a little perspective and forethought from you. You haven’t
been wrong to criticize on some levels, just that sometimes it goes far beyond constructive and even peddle false info to justify your thinking. Really we know this is one days result, but it wasn’t that terrible before with one loss in 8 even if it was draws often. We are very very slowly climbing the ladder, just get it in perspective and yes will may step down a rung, but still in all, were growing. Try and enjoy it boys, ok its not Europe, but all things run in circles, good times bad times.
Ok some of the whingers still comment even when we win, but most disappear, and the ones that do comment always bring out the old cliches, which a lot of our recent performances do not support.
Mark he’s embarrasing mate.
Boro must be crap cos we beat em I mean what Blue would say that? None.
And if thats true why couldn’t the antis use the same argument for the Watford game? A good side?
Dan some of these antis have got to be filth fans on the wind up.
Criticism is fair enough but it’s the amount of posts and the variety of subjects they moan about.
Paul, some folk are just like that in every aspect of life. They get a 20% pay rise it shoulda been 30%. One reason i was happy to leave the UK was i found myself surrounded constantly by misery mongers who basically are unhappy in their own hearts, and it reflects in how they think, talk and everything they do. It is sad to say that their are those that actually sighed when we won today. Not making too much of the win personally, but wasn’t making too much of the loss against Watford either. Hysteria. And if we don’t get 3 points against middlesboro, then i still wont get hysterical i will simply put it in perspective. Great day today and were not over egging it, we know Middlesbourgh is another day, but so what we ain’t going down, never was.
Singalong guys
Post when were losing, You only post when were losing, post when were losing, you only post when were losing..
Sorry i know im being naughty and will smack my own bottom and go to bed early. Sorry couldn’t resist.
really funny james I did laugh lol
Dan spent the day taking my grand kids out
It is noticeable now a couple or more days gone by since this was posted, the lack of comments. Curious that really.
