Referee Watch – Carl Boyeson

Barring any late changes, Carl Boyeson of East Yorkshire will be in the middle for Blues’ Championship game against Wolves at St Andrews today. Here is a look at his stats.

Season Performance

Mr Boyeson has been in charge of thirty games this season, and in those games he has shown sixty-nine yellow cards and two reds. Of those games, Mr Boyeson has refereed twelve Championship games, handing out thirty-two cautions and sending off one player.

Last Blues Game Refereed

The last Blues game Mr Boyeson was in charge of was the 2-1 win over Barnsley at Oakwell on Boxing Day. In that game, Mr Boyeson booked two players – Marcus Tudgay of Barnsley and Wade Elliott of Blues and his performance was rated with a 7 by Colin Tattum, who described him as “decisive and aware”. Interestingly, both games involving Blues refereed by Mr Boyeson this year have resulted in victories for Blues.

Last Championship Game Refereed

The last game at Championship level refereed was the 3-0 win for Derby County over Bristol City at Pride Park on Good Friday.  In that game, Mr Boyeson booked three players – Craig Bryson of Derby County along with Cole Skuse and Marvin Elliott for Bristol City. The Derby Telegraph didn’t mention Mr Boyeson whilst Andy Stockhausen of thisisbristol.co.uk agreed that Bristol City could have no complaints over the penalty award in the game.
