Clark Courting McCourt?
with thanks to Archie from bcfc.freeforums.org who alerted me to this story
Northern Irish left winger Paddy McCourt has been linked with a move to Birmingham City after his release by Celtic this summer. The 29-year-old had played 66 league appearances for the Bhoys, scoring nine goals in five seasons before his release from Parkhead this summer.
The Derry Journal has linked McCourt strongly to a move to Blues after McCourt reportedly visited St Andrews last week. However, the Derry-born winger is also linked with moves to Aberdeen and the MLS.
McCourt started his professional career with Rochdale in England before playing for FAI sides Shamrock Rovers and Derry City. He moved to Celtic in the summer of 2008, choosing his boyhood club over overtures from Norwich and West Bromwich Albion.
With Blues lacking a natural left-sided midfielder after the departure of loanee Shane Ferguson it will be interesting to see if this goes any further; at 29 McCourt is considerably older than most of Clark’s other signings but as a free agent there is a chance that the Northern Irish international could be snapped up.

Undoubted talent, shocking playing record. Would be a gamble but one worth taking imo
McCourt is a player I have always admired, particularly for his incredible dribbling skills. How he has received so few International Caps is a mystery.
I for one would welcome him to the club.
Richard he’s a catholic with a bit of an attitude. I think that hendered his chances in the Northern Ireland set up. He is an undoubted talent tho,I have a soft spot for Celtic and often watch their games on the telly. He often goes missing in games but when he is playing well the guys a magician!!. I for one would welcome him at Blues.
with everything still in the melting pot ferg’s door not fully closed yet, a younger more vibrant player imo
As alterted by myself on OP 15 mins before your mate Archie!
Didn’t see it.
Edit – you didn’t provide a link mate ;)
In the ‘One in, Two out’ thread.
As I said, you didn’t give a link…
At least it shows that Lee Clark has options and he’s not putting all his eggs in one basket regarding Ferguson. It goes against this season’s youth policy, but I suppose it’ll be another experienced head to help out the youngsters. A year plus a year’s option would be ok.
What I failed to polnt out earlier although he scores goals that Messi would be proud of his stamina is equivilent to a 50 year old. He doesn’t like to train and has off-field issues.
If Clark thought he had a challenge with Morrison’s temperament he has a greater one with McCourt.
Still want him though,
sounds like he was told….. when we sell Redmond we will be able to make you an offer!
Big question, …. is he cheap enough
we need young, hungry players out to prove a point – not failures at celtic
this will be a tough season – we only finished mid table with king, davies and redmond !!
Loks like Fulham;s Dan Burn is one of the CH targets?
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11681/8791895
Dan Burn would be a good addition….@6′ 6″ tall and just past his 21st birthday and from Clark’s neck of the woods Blyth Northumberland……..ideal!
Basically a team full of loan signings for a season won’t solve anything they will all be gone within a year
JohnBond;, Unfortunately mate, it is only this season we are concerned with, — Survival, ??.
This time next season, [ hopefully ] will be a different kettle of fish, ??.
It might not be a bad thing in our present financial position. If any of them don’t work out, we can at least offload them at the end of the seaon (or before.) I think the club may have learned it’s lesson on that score.
Apparently, Dan Burn is right-footed… and so is Kyle Bartley. So who is the left-sider?
I see the Dingles have released Roger Johnson…. could be worth a punt if he’s sensible enough to take a massive cut in wages y’think?
If he came to Blues…. it would be a step up for him now. Who’d a thought it? Bet he didn’t when he left. lol
and he would be a strong leader at the back with a young player……………….
it would be interesting how many bluenoses would open the door for him if he came back….
At the end of the day, he listened to all the media bullsh1t and thought he was good enough for the Premiership. He wasn’t. If he was to show a little humility, who knows. After all, win, lose or draw, he always put in a great shift for us.
Clark appears to have got the two Cb’s sorted……………..
The two that have been mooted are, apparently, both right-footers… so who is the left footer?
http://www.clubcall.com/fulham/blues-target-fulham-defender-1602516.html? clark sorted two cb’s from the premiership………….
johnson was a rock for us but to have him back now after he left for premiership football
and to get in the england squad would be a little bit embarrassing for him, and anyway
we couldnt afford is wages even though hes with a league one team, how sad is that.
never mind wont loose any sleep over it! KRO.
mccourt would fill the gap on the left hand side but hes 10 years to old for lee aint he?. KRO.
Could you rephrase that please dave? lol
I’m unsure about this one, simply due to his age.
just making the observation that hes far to old to fit into lees lads, ok staffs.
sorry for the phrase.KRO.
No worries mate. It just read a bit funny… maybe it’s just my warped sense of humour!

Again, unsourced, no links. I only do links Letsby.
Get McCourt! He’s got fire in the belly and even at 29 can run rings around defenders and slot ’em home. McCourts are a fine sept and totally trustworthy; full of honour and work ethic. They are well endowed and amazingly virile and never fail to help elderly ladies across the street. One was even High King of Ireland back when….
Can I have some of what he’s had please? :-)
Here ya go Staffie! XXXX
Cheers Ozzy. Feel much better now!
Similar age to Burke. If he has the quality then who cares about his age tbh. Whether we can afford his wages is another matter
But it seems lee may not be counting on Morrison or ferguson coming back by the looks of things
I think he’s still keen on Ferguson… but maybe we have Morrison’s position covered now?
