Referee Watch – Andy Woolmer
Barring any late changes, Andy Woolmer of Northamptonshire will be in the middle for Blues’ Championship game with Millwall at St Andrews. Here is a look at his stats.
Season Performance
Mr Woolmer has taken charge of six games so far this season, handing out nineteen yellow cards and no reds. Of those games, two have been in the Championship and those have yielded ten yellow cards. Last season Mr Woolmer took charge of thirty-five games, handing out one hundred and three yellow cards and four reds. Of those games, six were in the Championship and in those games Mr Woolmer handed out eighteen cautions.
Last Blues Game Refereed
The last game involving Blues that Mr Woolmer took charge of was the 2-1 FA Cup 3rd Round replay defeat to Leeds United at St Andrews in January. In that game, Mr Woolmer booked four players – Morgaro Gomis and Wade Elliott of Blues and Jamie Ashdown and Michael Brown of Leeds. However, his performance was rated as “abject” in my match report from that day.
Last Championship Game Refereed
The last game at this level refereed by Mr Woolmer was the match between Watford and Charlton at Vicarage Road on September 14. In that game Mr Woolmer handed out five cautions – to Essaid Belkalem, Marco Faraoni and Iriney of Watford and to Dale Stephens and Simon Church of Charlton.
Suspension Watch
5 yellow cards – Paul Robinson (one match suspension served)
3 yellow cards – Neal Eardley, Dan Burn and Jonathan Spector
2 yellow cards – Tom Adeyemi and Shane Ferguson
1 yellow card – Darren Ambrose, Lee Novak, Koby Arthur, Wade Elliott, Kyle Bartley, Jesse Lingard, Matt Green, Nikola Zigic, Colin Doyle and Andrew Shinnie
The “cut-off” point where a fifth yellow card will no longer attract a suspension is after December 31 2013 and the point where a tenth yellow card will no longer attract a suspension is after April 13 2014.

lets hope he learned from his abject performance last year, and he shouldn’t be as worse this term??/. Its really important that blues have consistant refs for once lol…… I am hopeful ….that our performance will pull us though instead of relying on refs……..
I think with all the current speculation this will be a tough game for Clark and the team. The uncertainty of a potential takeover could affect the performance.
I think that if a takeover is imminent… they could all be playing for their futures. Not the best backdrop for playing games… but they should all be commended for their battling qualities, even though they’ve not got the results their play has deserved so far. I’m still confident this squad will come good.
