Referee Watch – Carl Boyeson

Barring any late changes, Carl Boyeson of East Yorkshire will be in the middle for Blues’ Championship game against Leicester City at St Andrews tonight. Here is a look at his stats.

Season Performance

Mr Boyeson has taken charge of nineteen games so far this season, showing sixty-four yellow cards and two reds. Of those games six have been in the Championship and those matches have yielded twenty-two cautions and one sending off.

Last Blues Game Refereed

The last game involving Blues that Mr Boyeson took charge of was the 2-3 defeat to Wolves on April 1 of last year. In that game he booked Jack Butland and Wade Elliott of Blues and Roger Johnson, Jack Robinson, Jamie O’Hara and David Davis of Wolves. However, he didn’t merit a mention in my match reflections which I consider a positive.

Last Championship Game Refereed

The last game at this level that Mr Boyeson officiated in was the draw between Bournemouth and Watford on January 18. In that game Mr Boyeson booked Matt Ritchie and Brett Pitman of Bournemouth along with Fitz Hall of Watford whilst Gabriele Angella was sent off for two bookable offences.

Suspension Watch

1 red card – Wade Elliott (three match suspension served), Kyle Bartley (one match suspension served)

1 yellow card –  Darren Ambrose, Koby Arthur, Wade Elliott, Matt Green,  Colin Doyle, David Murphy, Darren Randolph, Hayden Mullins,  Chris Burke and Andrew Shinnie

The “cut-off” point where a fifth yellow card will no longer attract a suspension is after December 31 2013 and the point where a tenth yellow card will no longer attract a suspension is after April 13 2014.
