Millwall Preview in Association with EZE Group
Gary Rowett’s Birmingham City side face relegation-threatened Millwall tonight at St Andrews looking to extend their unbeaten league run further against a team which has not had luck against Blues in recent years.
Millwall
The Lions come into this game having won just one game in their last ten in all competitions, which has left them languishing in 22nd place two points from safety. Millwall have failed to score more than one goal in a league game since the end of November but have won two of their last five games away from home 1-0 – although they did concede four at Valley Parade against Bradford in the FA Cup and six away at Carrow Road against Norwich.
Lee Martin should be back in the squad having missed the last game with bruised ribs but Paris Cowan-Hall (leg), Carlos Edwards (knee) and Nicky Bailey (calf) are all on the sidelines along with the suspended Sid Nelson.
Blues
Blues come into this game with no new injury worries; the only real question is whether Dimmi Gray will return to the team and at whose expense. Neal Eardley has returned from his loan spell but is ineligible.
This is one for Blues to win; we beat them 3-1 away this season and we’ve not lost in our last fifteen meetings against Millwall; in that time I can recall Chris Wood and Marlon King getting hat-tricks against the lions and our last home win of last season under Lee Clark was a 4-0 trouncing of the London side. Hopefully the Bromsgrove Mourinho will be able to continue that run.

Well Lad’s, Let us hope that our recent home form of draws, comes to an end tonight with a win for us, !!. whilst it would be lovely to batter them, — I will be happy with a single goal win for us.
I’ve supported Blues for long enough to know that there is no way we’ll win tonight. Just asked the wife for permission to put the mortgage on a one-nil defeat.
When do you collect your shedload of winnings?! And have you got the next set of lottery numbers?
I said that with our great record against millwall it’s a banana a skin if ever I’ve seen one but saying that I think we’re still win if we have the right attitude and 3-0!is my prediction…gray must start and dyer on bench otherwise same usual 11 ! Kro
I’m a huge Gray fan but I think that Dyer could a job for us tonight…….this is Millwall, they’re going to try to kick lumps out of Gray!!!!
There it is again.. “the Bromsgrove Mourinho.” You’ll be taken to task, I can see it now. :))
Tonight is the chance for Donaldson to join the Blues elite… and stick a hat trick past these lot. He’s proved he’s capable of it… and Millwall have proved they’re capable of shipping a hatfull. I think it would have to be a very poor performance from us to lose this game.
Personally, I would go with Dyer again. He’s improving with each game as he gets match fit. Gray is a good replacement when Dyer tires late on. I don’t think any of the other positions are up for debate. Go on Blues… fill yer boots!!
What’s bugging me is the last time I felt so sure we were going to take three points was against Blackpool so no predictions from me.
Its worrying when you expect to win not used to it lol
I hate your Bromsgrove Maurinho label. Our guy does not have the arrogance of that Chelsea man….how about Bromsgrove Brucey………………….any other suggestions? KRO
Told ya OP lol
Rowett actually thinks the nickname is funny and doesn’t take it seriously. According to his nibs, he wasn’t born in Bromsgrove and he only lived there for a couple of years anyway (they moved around due to his dad’s work.) But, as Mourinho has turned into a moaning old woman these days, I’d distance myself from that name anyway. :)
How about the “special fried rice one” or the ” Hong Kong bluey” or “Sir Gary OBE ( old blues ex) or just ” Gary Rowett Birmingham City FC manager ” that’s fine by me .. Kro
The last one is the only thing I’ll call him… because that’s exactly what he is.
Same starting XI as Saturday. Thomas left out of the squad altogether. Strange decision unless he’s ill or injured.
5 minutes to go and its the 0-1 scoreline that I was telling myself to go and put a £10 bet on… DOH!!
Personally, I cant understand why GR still opts for 1 up front then Millwall are going to stick 10 men behind the ball. Surely a Donaldson/Thomas combination would have suited this match? Or even a Thomas/Zigic combo??
GR has done enough to earn a medal for what he has achieved, but I cant help thinking he is sticking to a single formation just a bit too much. It doesn’t seem to have been working to full effect for a while now
Because other managers have gotten wise to our only tactic. They’re playing it against us and we’re struggling. Kind of, we can give it, but can’t take it. Some kind of change is needed to stop us being so predictable. We have a difficult game up next. Will be interesting to see how we approach it.
All you can say about tonight, is oh dear. Now’s the time for Rowett to show us what he’s got.
Very disappointing but they were entitled to a bad one given the massive improvement over the last few months. We need Morrison back soon and I really don’t understand why a 32 yr old loanee from Watford gets a start over our own homegrown 18 yr old £5m rated talent. Dyer was totally ineffective and made no impact whatsoever. Also I would suggest if Plan B is to launch long balls up for Zigic to nod on then Wes Thomas is far more likely to get on the end of them than the extremely pedestrian Lee Novak. Don’t know if Wes was injured and therefore not on the bench but if not he should be ahead of Novak and Zigic for that matter.
I do think teams have got wise to the way we play I think a short corner tonight to caddis and a shot on goal might have worked ,Gleason needs to be taken out for a game ,and start grey instead of dyer he runs around but does nothing for me .
Gleeson and Davis were playing deep because we havnt got a proper centre back in the team. We need Morrison back and another centre back to go with him and then we can push up 15 yards as a team. Teams have worked out if they can limit the service from wide then there is very little to hurt them from midfield – no runners. Gray has got to start ahead of Dyer.
Blues were shocking they rely to much on Cotterill shinnie needs help in midfield Gleeson looks like an overweight kid Davis is an headless chicken. But I though we had been taken over by clark again tonight Rowetts tactics were awful taking Donaldson off when he was our best player he’s the only one who created anything though he missed he did more than the others and he took shinnie off I couldn’t work that one out. Rowett needs to get at least three or four players in before the next game or we will get dragged back in to the relegation zone we are too predictable with no plan B. And dyer lived up to his name he was awful how can he be in front of gray all he done was give the ball away and fall over if he’s Gray’s replacement we are in trouble.
