Brentford Preview in Association with EZE Group
Gary Rowett’s Birmingham City meet Mark Warburton’s Brentford hoping to end their recent winless streak at St Andrews. Brentford however will be hoping to push on towards the playoffs with another win.
Brentford
Brentford come into this game off the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Blackpool that saw them take 42 shots and dominate the Seasiders. The Bees have three wins and three defeats in their last six games which have taken them to 7th place, and have won three of their last four away games.
New signing Liam Moore could play for Brentford while Jake Bidwell returns from suspension; Scott Hogan and Lewis McLeod remain out.
Blues
Blues have no new injury worries but will be concerned that they have shipped eight goals in their last two games and Gary Rowett may have to change the back four with the knowledge of Brentford’s quality of possession.
Clayton Donaldson will probably keep his place against his old club meaning Wes Thomas may miss out as Blues will probably revert to a 4-2-3-1 at home. Dimmi Gray could come back on the left in place of Lee Novak and Andy Shinnie will probably get the nod behind the striker.
Brentford don’t do draws which is why I think this one will be; Blues can’t keep clean sheets at the moment but I do think we will score – if Brentford play their usual game it will allow us to counter and hopefully Donaldson will not be wasteful against his old team.

Could do with at least four and hopefully six points from the next two home games to steady the ship.
I travel more in hope than expectation. KRO
Ime thinking draw also and 2-2 is my prediction and 4 points from these 2 home games will totally deteriorate any relegation worries so come on blues and lets get back to winning ways on Wednesday after today’s draw and have a nice chilling end to the season.. But that’s not blues is it !!!?? Kro
Unlucky Dave lol
A draw would be a decent result today but we must beat Blackpool on Wednesday night for a number of reasons. Derby away next Saturday – very hard to see us getting anything there.
I honestly think we,all win3-1or 3-2both teams are scoring and letting goals in
Could be a few choruses of the Carson song today………..
No idea what to predict on or off the pitch
A very, very welcome 3, points there,
At times it felt more like we were the away side but we got a vital three points. I thought Donaldson had a great game up front on his own. Also well done to Rob Kiernan on his home debut – could be a good partner for Morrison. Shame about Glesson getting sent off – central midfield is probably our weakest area. Hopefully another three points against Blackpool. Not sure if I could cope with LC doing the double over us.
This possession thing is getting worrying, Brentford had twice as much of the ball as we did, this seems to be the norm now.
If you play like that you are going to get hurt, most sides will take advantage and score goals as has happened the last two matches.
We need to dominate teams not score one and just try to hold onto it never the less a good three points.
It seems to be deliberate tactics to sit very deep, defend in numbers and attack on the break. It’s not a case of other teams just getting the majority of the possession through being better – we are allowing them it. It works better when teams are looking for the three points like Brentford were and commit players forward. I think if we can pair up Morisson and Kiernan we could push further up as a team.
I got a bit irritated with our dropping deep tactics and letting them have the ball but we were had 2 or 3 very good chances second half with gray and what looked a belter from cotterill but great save from there goal keeper so a great 3 points and that’s 11 clear of the bottom three now with Blackpool to come .. Relegation worries put to bed for this season do no worries !! Kro
sometimes you take a home win whether its a own goal or not hopefully my two home win predication comes true…… and.maybe a hammering await us at Derby hey ho dont you love football kro
Derby were imo top class at our place if we play too deep at their place i can see only the home goal counter getting in scary mode………but we see
To be fair mark if we do beat Blackpool like you and I predict we will that will be 45 points and guaranteed safety and still 11 games to go so a heavy defeat by derby wouldn’t bother me to much except for pride but you never know in football do you because as they say its a funny old game and any result is possible but beat Blackpool Wednesday and I won’t loose to many hours worrying about derby county…bring it on!!! Kro
tbh Dave mid table acceptable under the circumstances and financial restraints we have
some might say even better than acceptable Dave…… what wonderful is the knowledge we could be playing the vilers next season now that would make my day…. how about you?
If we can get to 57 points that should be enough even if there is a points deduction. So far we have played 20 games under GR yielding 31 points. Take that form over a season gives 71 points – very close to play off form. Shame we only got 11 out of the first 14 games under you know who. Interesting to see what sort of reception he will get on Wednesday.
no doubt the reception will be blue if he pull of a victory dont you think shirley blue…..
I am sure he will get lots of love from you Mark.
as I mentioned before shirley I have no need to personally mock him…..but you help yourself if it make you feel better lol
Yesterday was great with us winning and vile loosing and yes mark it would be wonderfull for all blues fans to see them relegated and a derby next season …..as for lee Clark, he will get the same reaction of me my wife and my son as he got when we went to Bloomfield road and that’s a round of applause because it doesent matter what you think of him personally he was our manager and he worked under very difficult circumstances so to boo him or skate him in any way is in acceptable in my eyes but that’s just my opinion !
