Cardiff City Preview in Association with EZE Group
Gary Rowett takes his Birmingham City side to the Welsh capital looking to continue a fine sequence of results which sees Blues unbeaten in four games.
Cardiff City
Russell Slade’s men lie in 14th place, one place and one point above Blues with 48 points from 38 games. While the Bluebirds have only lost one game in March they haven’t won at home in the league since January 10 – just one home league win in 11 games demonstrates the poor home form that they have shown.
While former Blues loanee Federico Macheda returns from suspension, Cardiff are missing quite a few players although as Gary Rowett has stated, many have been missing long-term and as such he doesn’t expect a much-changed Cardiff side from their last outing against Bournemouth in midweek.
Blues
Stephen Gleeson returns from suspension while Michael Morrison is also fit again giving Gary Rowett a bit of a selection dilemma. I expect both will only start on the bench as the team has done well of late with the only potential changes being Dimmi Gray on the left possibly being benched for Lloyd Dyer. The other player who could be dropped is Andew Shinnie, who has struggled of late with Rowett potentially pushing Tesche forwards to the number 10 role.
Regardless of Cardiff’s poor home form and their lack of players I expect a tough game for Blues – especially as Cardiff have played a similar sort of counter attacking game as Blues have of late, soaking up pressure and giving up possession in favour of quick attacks. It’ll be interesting to see who takes the initiative but with little to play for this could be a dull one.
Betting
My tip would be to go for the draw which is 12/5 with Betvictor while if you fancy a goalscorer bet David Cotterill is 12/1 to be first goalscorer – something that I think is value bearing in mind he’s back on the goal trail from last week. You can help support the website by betting through Betvictor at this link.

My main concern re this game is that Cardiff are physically bigger and stronger than Blues. This could be a difficult game for us.
If fit Morrison should replace Spector as Spector is not a natural centre back. Gleeson in for Shinnie with Tesche playing the number 10 role. Novak replacing Gray on the left of midfield.
This team should be more than a match for Cardiff.
I’d go with all of that.
We should be more than a match for Cardiff. A 3-1 win sounds good to me..
I would play Gleeson, Davis and Tesche too but as a three then allow Cotterill and Gray to stay forward as much as possible to support Donaldon. A 4-3-3 when we have possession and 4-5-1 when we havnt.
0 – 2 to Blues
Looking at our remaining fixtures, 6 of our last 9 games are against teams currently above us… 3 of them in the promotion race. So, if we have aspirations of a top half finish, we’re going to have to get a wriggle on, starting with Cardiff today. If we beat them, we’ll go above them.. with a game in hand.
Good luck lads..give it heaps and we’ll get a result. Have a nice time in Taffy-land fellas.
Macheda, named in the starting XI for Cardiff, injured in the warm up and is out of the match. A good omen?
Just on my way home , absoluetly amazing, not the game but the grief and the mayhem we caused Cardiff of the pitch , i took two out and we battered them , the score oh 2-0 not bothered we scared the shit out of them and it was marvellous .. Enjoy the rest of your evening because I will !! Kro
Ps..if you were not there don’t comments because you wont understand ok
You must feel really proud fighting their family stand you cretin. I even saw a couple of Blues fans fighting each other. I think this might be my last away game. Fed up of being embarrassed by some of our idiot fans. your family must be really proud of you Dave.
What the hell!!!……is this bloke for real or what!!!
Dave
Do me a favour and don’t glorify matchday violence on my site ever again.
Thanks
I am sorry dan but you should ban him from the site anyone else agree !!
Thanks for your comments but please don’t tell me who to ban either :)
That’s me out of here then not following a blog that condones violence
a) where did I condone violence? I specifically asked Dave not to post anything related to it again
b) Thanks for your input and I’m sorry you feel that way – but that’s your prerogative – just as it’s my prerogative to choose who posts on this site and who doesn’t. I will run it as I see fit and that’s the way it is.
Bluenose08- A load of pissed up garbage that tells you all you need to know about the bloke. Let’s not degrade this great site any more and forget about it.
He says ” I took out two and we battered them” and he is proud of it by coming on here and bragging about it. What you are saying is that makes it ok because he has had a few drinks !!
Dave,
I’m gobsmacked myself that you posted that. Your previous posts have been so informed. Were you serious? You view brawling above a good result on the pitch? It’s 2015 mate not 1980s – take a good long hard look at yourself if that was a fair dinkum post mate.
would be keen to hear how you justify ” I took two out and we battered them”
With your wife and son as well ?
If this is the Dave we all know and not someone masquerading as him. them I am shocked difficult to believe a family man should act in such a manner.
Dave Mann What sort of comment is that! This site is to comment on football matters! Are you proud of yourself! I think you should apologise , or don,t bother to comment on OP again! Its idiots like you who bring football into disrepute! Is it the drink talking or are you always like this! Its not big or funny just bloody stupid!
Dear oh dear Mr Mann, save it for the pub, putting it on a site is as stupid as your behaviour. As for the game it is the same old boring Blues, it has become a pattern, not because the players have decided there isn’t anything to play for but because they are simply not good enough.
Dave, if what you have just said isn’t just some sad BS lie, then you and your mates are the SCUM of BRUM!
I’m not one to criticise normally, but when fighting off the pitch is more important than the score on it… it’s a very sad day. I hope this is a one-off abberation Dave.
I’m shocked.
Is this the same Dave who keeps moaning about the Blues supporters not attending the games when all he wants to do is to get involved in a punch up..
Very sad man who needs to grow up.
Hi guys, sorry for my drunken post yesterday and I deserve all the crap that’s been thrown at me but a couple of Cardiff fans barged past me as I was walking well behind my wife and son with a friend and we had a few words and it went off , ime not proud of myself but I was protecting myself and my friend from them And just lashed out, luckily for me there was no police around and then I ran to catch up with my wife and son and they just said what’s happend and I just said I had a bit of bother but the fans just got pulled back by other fans and it was over pretty quickly but I was only protecting myself but I do know that I should have been walking with my family and I have certainly decided that I won’t be doing that again but as I’ve said I apologised to everyone who was there and ime now apologising to you also , sorry for being an idiot but its hard sometimes in the spur of the moment , cheers guys. Kro & lol
Dave
Thanks for this.
(also Bluenose08 – this is why I don’t ban people willy nilly ;) )
That’s good to hear Dave. Glad to say I withdraw my comment
No problem Alex mate because I propably would have said the same thing so I appreciate your reply and I hope that I don’t get caught up it again because the atmosphere you could cut with a knife and it went off ten fold inside and outside the ground and many blues fans were thrown out or arrested and ime just glad that I wasent one of them , respect to you my friend! Kro
Well done Dave.
Same respect to you Steve and thanks and well done to you for replying .. Cheers pal. Kro & lol
Well said Dave and I also wish to aplogies for my reply comments.
Cheers Art, I don’t hold any malice towards anybody who thought the same , cheers mate. Kro&lol
Well done for admitting you were wrong, we all make mistakes occasionally, its part of growing up and life. Lets hope you are not in that situation again, sometimes provocation can be hard to handle, you just have to walk away especially when you have family to consider. Hopefully all future posts by everyone are based on comments about BCFC and nothing else. We have all done idiotic things in the past but you learn from them.
Cheers BigAl and yes lets talk football … Bad performance to be honest mate, we looked poor and kept going backwards and again gray flatters to Decive and we didn’t put anything together until they went two up , we looked looked like holland in our strip but unfortunately didn’t play like them and I can’t remember us working there goalkeeper to much , the crowd was more entertaining than the game but two weeks till Rotherham and then ime off to Bournemouth .. And yes I will be in my best behaviour, I promise !! Kro&lol
As I expected Dave, just a one-off. :)
As for the game.. well, we have to expect these kind of games. Let’s face it, we’re Blues, we rarely win when we’re expected too. For me, I cannot see what Gray has done this season to warrant 20 appearances. He’s had one good game… and has lived off that ever since. Sorry, but he wouldn’t be first on my team sheet. Dyer has been no better. Novak does a decent job out there, if not spectacular. Time to try someone else out on the left.
Good to have you back as the same old Dave, Dave.
Restraint is a manly attribute and can often defuse tense situations. Certainly you have a right to protect wife & child but this sounded a bit more like aggro to me. Anyway, you’ve ‘manned up’ and apologised so I’ll stop there in case I make any more bad puns! ;-)
