Clayton Donaldson wins OP Player of the Season

Clayton Donaldson was today presented with his trophy by OP reader Carl Eustace after the striker was overwhelmingly voted player of the season by voters on the site.

Carl won a competition ran on the OP Twitter and Facebook feeds to be the lucky person to present the trophy, and was present along with dad Andy to watch the Blues players put through their paces in an “open training session” organised by the club at St Andrews today.

It was an interesting session – although the players might not have been at full throttle due to having us watching them, it was clear that they have been working on retention of possession with the coaching staff putting them through two-touch games encouraging quick passing and movement.

There were also rumours that Nikola Zigic will be playing in Thursday’s Birmingham Senior Cup Final, which will be held at St Andrew’s.

I’d like to thank everyone for voting and entering the competition – and the club for organising the session.
