Blues Ladies v Bristol Academy Women Preview
Blues Ladies take on WSL bottom club Bristol Academy Women tonight at the Autotech Stadium hoping to break their own winless run that has stretched to five games.
Bristol Academy Women
Willie Kirk’s charges have lost all five games they have played so far this season, including a 4-0 thrashing by Chelsea and a 5-2 battering by Notts County at their Stoke Gifford base.
Kirk has taken over from Dave Edmondson last weekend and he will know that if Bristol Academy are to get their season on track they need to start getting results in games like tonight.
Blues Ladies
Dave Parker will know changes need to be made after Sunday’s disappointing game but it will be a question of who is fit enough to come into the team. Neither Emily Westwood nor Abbie-Leigh Stringer were mobile enough up front and this meant that in the first half in particular, Blues Ladies struggled to get the ball away from their own area as they couldn’t retain possession.
Karen Carney, Freda Ayisi and Kirsty Linnett all came on in the second half but it may be too soon for any of the three to start; Coral-Jade Haines could come into the midfield to bolster the creativity there and Alex Windell might come back in at right-back.
Whatever happens teamwise, Blues Ladies will know that this is a vital match to win; their opponents are going through some major problems themselves and there is a chance to put points on the board. They have had problems throughout this season scoring goals but that has been more about not being able to create chances.
Tickets are available on the gate – £7 adults and £4 for concessions. If you’re not able to make the game I’ll be covering it on Twitter from the stadium’s press area.

If you enjoy a good game of football played with passion and pride come and give it a go. If you have never watched Ladies football before I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Unlucky to the Ladies last night whom easily outplayed their opponents and were unlucky not to find the back of the netting. Kro
