GAMEDAY – Wolves Away
Blues travel the short distance up the M6 to face Wolves today, looking for three points to get them back towards the playoff picture.
Wolves
Wolves come into the game in 13th place, four places and eight points behind Blues. They’ve won their last two home games 2-1 but have not kept a clean sheet at home since Boxing Day, seven games ago and are six games without a clean sheet home or away.
Wolves have a full treatment room with Mike Williamson, James Henry, Dave Edwards, Ethan Ebanks-Landell, Jordan Graham and Nouha Dicko all sidelined with varying degrees of injury.
Blues
Blues are still without James Vaughan and Nicolai Brock-Madsen due to injury, leaving Clayton Donaldson as the only fully fit recognised striker in the squad.
Gary Rowett has confirmed he will make tweaks rather than wholesale changes to the team but that he has told his fringe players that they have to be ready to come in and do a job.
Ref
Darren Drysdale takes charge of this game. He’s been in the middle for 27 games this season, cautioning 63 players and sending two off. His last Blues game was the 1-0 defeat to Charlton last November; on that day he kept his cards in his pocket.
Suspension Watch
One red card (three match suspension served): James Vaughan
9 Yellow Cards: Maikel Kieftenbeld
8 Yellow Cards: Stephen Gleeson
6 Yellow Cards: Diego Fabbrini and Jonathan Grounds
5 Yellow Cards: Jon Toral
4 Yellow Cards: David Davis, Michael Morrison, Paul Robinson and Paul Caddis
3 Yellow Cards: David Cotterill, Clayton Donaldson and James Vaughan
2 Yellow Cards: Jonathan Spector and Neal Eardley
1 Yellow Card: Tomasz Kuszczak
The cutoff date for 5 yellow cards to attract a suspension is November 30, 2015
The cutoff date for 10 yellow cards to attract a suspension is March 13, 2016

Having not scored in the last 4 away games i’m hoping today’s the day. If everyone’s reading from the same hymn sheet & we play like we know we can play with fast attacking football we can crush wolves I think if we score we will win otherwise I go for another 0-0 bore.
Get no pleasure writing my prediction but I think it will be 2 unwanted hat tricks today ,the 1st wolves 3rd home win on trot and 2nd our 3rd straight 2-0 away defeat ,hope I’m wrong
First goal massive if scored and I hope it’s us , a win puts us back in the picture with a game in hand and within touching distance of not only 6th but 5th so come on Blues it’s a game to get our away form back on track and live on Sky which we have done well on lately when live , 1-3 for me . KRO
Interesting selection issues for GR today. Davis in a 4-3-3 ?. Which of the 4 wide players and then 1 or 2 of them?.And then there’s Toral/ Fabbrini ? Defence- Is there anyone really threatening what is already there? At our best and on the good side of our inconsistency we can get something out of this. KRO.
It’s first 5minutes for me. Might sound a bit daft but if we can get a foothold early minutes without Macdonald running things-then we will be ok. No one pace Buckley please and if GR fancies playing Spector then be it with Davis with Gleeson sacrificed. With Spector and Davis in the centre of things then we can have Toral and Fabbrini in.
I like the idea of that Mitchell
Kuszczak
Caddis Morrison Robinson Grounds
Kieftenbeld Gleeson Davis
Toral Donaldson Maghoma
Keep it tight, frustrate them and their fans, then with the likes of Fabbrini, Cotterill, Buckley and Solomon-Otabor to use from the bench, we should have more than enough. 1-3 Blues.
Copycat with team and result you scoundrel you . KRO
I stuck my comment in, then read the other comments. Just coincidence. But, two heads are better than one. :)
Well we’re both wrong with the team staffs so let’s hope the result stays the same . :-) KRO
Looking for an improvement today after our last 4 away games where we have not showed up.Just hope there’s some conviction there starting with the team selection.
We have two games in hand and 6 points will get us in a playoff place ,do we want to play in the prem , do we want more glory days , COME ON LETS get on that field of dreams again ……KRO
Spector and Davis in. Robinson and Maghoma out.
Cotterill and Spector start , interesting . KRO
3-0 is my guess.
I think whoever we pick as a team Gary will checkmate us with different players..
One shot at goal ,none on target, 1 corner, a game of tig would have come closer to scoring , for God sake the women’s team show more attacking flair bring them on , it’s a good job we are not at war , the enemy would finish with the same amount of soldiers the we attack ….COME ON ..
David Davis Was magnificent . KRO.. Still fighting !!
Man of the Match by a mile. His energy makes a massive difference to our midfield… a lot of crucial interceptions to stop Wolves breaking through too. The first hand Rowett shook on the final whistle.
The defence stood up very well, although I wish Caddis would stop hoofing the ball every time he gets it. I thought maybe Fabbrini should have come on for Toral in the last 15-20 mins. He may have just been the pick that unlocked the door. Chance missed there methinks. But overall a very good second half performance. I think if the game had lasted another 10 minutes, we’ve have got the 3 points.
On to Fulham now and a must win game if we’re to get closer to the top 6. I doubt that one will be 0-0. :)
How frustrating was that ! Still GR not trusting Fab.for a 15 minute spark of trickery in front of goal. Still a point is ok but these loan signing are a real puzzle. Perhaps Fabl needed against Fulham but not at the expense of Davis.
Spot on Dave , love the attacking game late second half , but we must do it last 20mins of first half as well KRO
Well I said if we didn’t score it would be 0-0. I hate being right. Brilliant second half only confirmed to me that we are in desperate need for a decent striker
We have a decent striker We need a decent goalscorer . KRO
Support for Donaldson yes?
If Donaldson was a goalscorer, he would have had a hat-trick today.
He’s a target man staffs. KRO
That’s right. But a target man is pointless unles you have someone alongside to take advantage… and mostly, we don’t.
Dave the job of a striker which is what Donaldson is, is to score goals, he’s supposed to be our main goal threat, he’s NOT a targetman because that’s what you have in a 4-4-2. I’ve been saying for months now that he is not good enough & my opinion hasn’t changed i’m afraid. Without looking at the statistics I think he’s only scored in about 5 or 6 games which works out to about 1 goal in 6, a player in his position should be scoring at least 1 in 3.
I think one thing we learned today, was never to play Toral out on the left again. It made a massive difference once Maghoma came on and Toral was moved into the middle.
Yes it did and it still didn’t change the result did it !! KRO
No it didn’t, but we had the majority of our chances then. We could have scored 3 or 4.
Forest have sacked Freedman. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke. Glad Rowett didn’t play for them. :)
32 crosses and no goals , yes I know I am boring myself , a lot of them were good crosses so why no goals , lack of people in the box , lack of another striker in the box needing more dribbles into the box , it needs sorting exciting football gets top sponsorship , I do hope fabbrini is not out of favour with GR….
Disagree William. We had chances, couldn’t get them on target. Nothing to do with a lack of strikers in the box, more a lack of clinical finishing.
What has happened since Don scored 16 last season? Now he is not our goal scorer and no one else is. Either we are in an incomplete team having no goalscorer or having no goalmakers. If our defence can hold them off then the attacking midfield is lacking. If our defence cracks we should have a goal threatbthat can get one back. Laxk of goals continues to be our season long problem. It is due for a change and I feel it coming.
Great second half and should have scored one of four clear cut chances.Davis was everywhere and had a blinder.Surely won his place back in midfield.
It was good to see us playing some good stuff away from home again and a draw isn’t s complete disaster.A good run at home now with a game in hand and we could be in a good position in a few weeks time.
Hillfield, Davis was immense today, he’s the engine room in that midfield that we’ve been missing, he chased, tackled, headed & passed brilliantly & fully deserved m.o.m
Some of the interceptions he made in the second half, catching players and dispossesing them, no one else could have made them.
Exactly staffs & he was so quick at turning defense into attack & made some lovelly passes, it would have capped it off if that shot had gone in which was our only shot on target.
Body language of Fabbrini on the bench. Did anyone see what I did? Secondly the appalling passing by MK in the first half was horrific. Also,I like Spector but muscled out of nearly every ball in the air. Bright spot was Davis-so pleased for him to get man of the match.
Your hard on the players almajir , most teams have a lot more shots at goal than we do , and lately away ,more on target , we play one striker up front so mark him out of the game and our chance of winning takes a big hit , mark toral and it’s even less , the opposition as sust us but GR is still doing a good job , this last debt we have I think really means no loaned striker , so he who ? You know ,as we never expected to do so well anyway why not try something or somebody different …KRO
Eh?
Think you were way harsher than me William…
Your right Almajir I saw a lot of good in the second half , but if we are not going to use the January signings then we might just as well spent the gray money on a good striker and play him every game ….ah well…..KRO.
