Donaldson Scores in Surprise Jamaica Win

Clayton Donaldson was on the scoresheet as Jamaica surprised Chile 2-1 in their Copa America Centenario warmup game in Vina del Mar. The Bradford-born striker scored the first goal of the game from a Garath McLeary cross as the Reggae Boyz stunned the Copa America holders.

Chile vs Jamaica 1-2 All Goals & Highlights HD…
As goals go, it wasn’t a great one to concede; Donaldson was given enough time to control the ball and stab it past the Chile keeper with the defence nowhere near him in the area.

It marked Donaldson’s second international goal for Jamaica and will be a boost for the Bradford-born striker prior to Jamaica’s first game in the tournament against Venezuela on June 5.

With Donaldson away with Jamaica now for a few weeks and Nicolai Brock-Madsen heading to Rio to play in the Olympics for Denmark it’ll be interesting to see who Blues play up front in their pre-season and whether the international callups will have a major effect on the team come the start of the new season. Gary Rowett has made mention that he wants to bring in a new striker; it’s eminently possible that new player could start in the first XI come August even if Donaldson comes through unscathed as he will probably start pre-season later than the other players due to needing a break from football.
