Julian Cardellino Update
According to the “Football Spy” on Mirrorfootball.co.uk, Julian Cardellino has extended his trial at Blues after impressing during his initial period with the club.
The 18-year-old Argentine, who plays for Club Atletico Kimberley in the Argentine fifth tier has, according to the Mirror
“…impressed City’s staff by scoring numerous times and his assessment, which was due to end today (Monday) has been extended.”
Unless the Club have played a few reserve friendlies they’ve not talked about on the website, then I can only assume Cardellino has been in form for the u18 Academy side – of which I have no news reports about in the period the Argentine has been on trial. Those of you who saw the video on my previous post about Cardellino will know that he is expecting to gain Spanish nationality in May 2012, which would negate the need for a work permit.
The only news I can get from Argentina is a couple of weeks old, from this site, which has one sentence about Julian Cardellino:
En tanto, hoy partirá el delantero Julián Cardellino hacia Inglaterra para probarse en Birmingham y otros equipos británicos. Al menos un mes, estará en el viejo continente.
This translates in English to:
“Meanwhile, striker Julian Cardellino today departs for England to trial for Birmingham and other British teams. He will spend at least one month in Europe”.
My inference from that is that Cardellino is being hawked around England etc by an agent, and that this news story from the Mirror is agent-driven; it’s his job to get a deal for his player so he’s going to talk him up. A great comparison would be the raft of news stories about Blues potentially signing Mauro Boselli at the start of the 10/11 season.
In short – until he’s holding a scarf above the Kop, don’t believe the hype.

He must be a lot taller than Zigic if he can hold a scarf above the kop!
Or he could stand on the roof?
More bollox from the mirror.
CHRIS HUGHTON,today in the Evening mail,”JULIAN CARDELLINO” has only played 1 reserve game and didn’t last 90 mins,no mention of any goals either !!!!!
