Tangerine Dreaming? The Blackpool Preview (away leg)
So, it comes down to this. A two-legged shootout for the chance to play in the big tamale, the play off final. Blues are now up to game sixty-one – can they make it to the end of the road and all the love that they’ve been dreaming of – or are their bodies too tired and weary?
Blackpool FC
Like Blues, Blackpool are on an unbeaten run – their streak stretches back seven games and includes four wins over Southampton, Watford, Leeds and Burnley – of which all barring Watford were at home. Blackpool haven’t lost at home since February 21 when they went down 4-1 to West Ham United and have kept clean sheets in five of their last seven games.
Craig Cathcart is definitely out having complained of heart palpitations; however former Blues men Barry Ferguson and Kevin Phillips will both be hoping to play against their former employers.
Blues
Blues are on a nine match unbeaten run, and come into this game on the back of beating the champions convincingly at St Andrews. Jordon Mutch returns to the squad after being rested in that game and Marlon King and Chris Burke will no doubt be restored to the starting eleven. Nathan Redmond is an outside choice for a starting berth “in the hole” after an excellent performance against the Royals and Nikola Zigic has recovered enough to be considered.
All away tickets are sold out, and if like me you either couldn’t afford one or get one, you can watch the match on Sky Sports 1 – kickoff is 7:45. I fancy that there will be goals in this game – there is no away goals rule however – and I’m hoping Blues can get a score draw at least.

Blues will win 3-0 and beat West Ham at Wembley 3-0 also
Didn’t West Ham beat blackpool 4-1 at Blomfield Rd
Come on the blues !
kro
Almajir, how come there is no away goal rule? Naturally, I have been presuming there will be one, as it’s a 2 leg match based on an aggregate score!
Hasn’t been for a while – since the 2000-1 season (ironically when Blues would have gone through on away goals against Preston)
Ah, cheers for that! well, that proves I wasn’t paying attention last time lol.
Blackpool will go all out and attack Blues so it could be backs to the wall tomorrow night but Blues have enough quality to attack also, i think it will be a fascinating game and one with goals.
Blackpool aint that great a side. They are very hit and miss but that guy they have on loan Dicko is an excellent player
Feckin Blackpool FFS
2-0 tonight and 1-0 at home
Then 3-0 at Wembley v West Ham
Then go up, all da dough from Sky balances the books so happy days.
Apart from losing Hughton to the Yammers, struggling all season then getting relegated that is.
