BIHL Announcement

Birmingham International Holdings have made an announcement in the last half hour with regards to this season’s accounts.

BIHL have announced that the interim accounts for the period ending December 2011 will be delayed until August 31.

It’s worth noting that these are not the accounts that the Football League are waiting for prior to the embargo being lifted, and that this statement is a pro forma one as they were previously delayed until today and the interim accounts cannot be released before the overdue June 2011 accounts.

Do these lot abide by any sort of rules??what are they hiding……….

  • mitchell says:

hopefully another anouncement will follow about the accounts prior to this so as we can get the transfer embargo lifted.

    I am very nervous!

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

So where the feck are todays figures?

It’s taking the pee to announce a statement delaying the next lot on the day we are supposed to publish the other lot. Even more when you consider thes are months behind.

  • Euston 9.18 says:

So the 2nd set of accounts to be delayed, does this mean even if the 1st set accounts are published today (not holding my breath) the league will still enforce a transfer embargo.Because the 2nd set of accounts are delayed ??

    K`R`O.

  • chris says:

this was expected, you can’t release accounts out of sync.
these are only half year accounts anyway, not the full year which only finishes this June and are due out in October.

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

That’s as maybe but surely that statement didn’t have to be made today, the same day as the missing accounts are due to come out?

  • royalblue says:

This is getting beyond a joke! What is going on with BIH? We will end losing Chris Hughton if this is is not sorted soon. What now happens with the transfer embargo?

  • Agent McLeish says:

They may be planning to publish the 2012 accounts before the 2011 ones :-/

  • Daddybluenose says:

This is definitely getting beyond a joke I now of another company that found difficulty with accounts…Enron…let’s just hope there’s no similarities that cost us our club!!!!!

  • Euston 9.18 says:

Maybe there’s figures in these accounts that could damage C`Y’s defence in his trial.

Don’t know who the accountant is for BLUES in this country,he or she has either made a right balls~up of them or maybe the far east lot are trying to hide the TRUTH.

    K`R`O.

  • Oldbluenose says:

Getting riddiculous now,!!. Announcing that the half-yearly will be delayed until late August, is all well and good, but making THAT announcement BEFORE the release of the longoverdue [ and possible trepidatious ] accounts for the League which initiated the current transfer ban, — Is totally insane,!!.

  • DoctorD says:

You can read everything they say here:

    http://www.irasia.com/listco/hk/birminghamint/announcement/index.htm

Basically they have just done a cut and paste job on the last announcement and changed the dates. No extra info, no substance.

I love their choice of words: “Due to delay in finalising the financial statements of the group…announcement for the interim results will be delayed” It’s as if it’s nothing more serious than something just went a bit squiffy with one of their Excel spreadsheets.

“I’m sorry Mr Carson, it’s Mr Lueck here. I just had Steve McManaman on the phone and he says he can’t seem to delete that last column in our spreadsheet — you know the one where we buried our dodgy cash-flow forecasts. He says it’s coz you gave him that pirate copy of Excel your attorney downloaded off the Internet and it just keeps giving error messages. ”

“Ah, no problem. He needs to use CONTROL-X and then SAVE AS….. How long do you thing Steve will need? Three months ought to do it.”

  • Evesham Blue says:

lol. Perhaps the long over due 2011 accounts are finally on their way perversely? I have to laugh. Perhaps the 2012 accounts are delayed until 2013 or until we receive better news that we are in the premier league again

  • shedrocket says:

Yeung, pannu et al, sorry but itsTime to go….

  • nicko says:

they wont show the accounts at all they have no intention a takeover of our club
and with the money they get they can then put it in there company and
it wont look as bad as showing the accounts at the moment i dont think
we will ever see the chinese again

    • nicky wicky says:

what money they’ve sold virtually everybody? the blues squad stand at 17 including ben foster so if they sell him and anybody else they will have to make a team next season out of kids cause the embargo will still be in place! so i can’t see them selling anybody or ch might walk?

  • andy says:

Is there a chance we can go through Mr Pannu’s programme notes again? They should print a joke column in the programme and put those notes in there. Im tired of the whole thing now, its an absolute shambles. Is Chris Hughton aware of what the situation really is like? We are led to believe he is kept right up to date. Blues are losing out on players already because of this transfer embargo, what a sorry state of affairs.

  • prewarblue says:

Did anyone honestly EXPECT the report to be published ?,,,,that old chestnut about fooling some of the people some of the time, but you cant fool all the people all the time has been served up again,,,,like a politician once told a very unpopular prime minister,,,,,,dont wonder on ways of your going,,JUST GO.

I would sooner have The Kumars or Wheildon back in charge,,,,,at least with them you KNEW what was going on,,,,,training ground sold, assets stripped,,,,anything removeable sold for scrap,,,,,but the bank never took the overdraft away,,,,transfer embargo was never in place,,,,and being a Blues fan was something to take pride in for all our faults,,,,,,,now we are just a joke with these clowns in charge

  • mitchell says:

Here here Prewar – even when the were delayed for a FOURTH time, I was prepared to accept that come what May on the 31st May, the accounts would be released and CH would be given half a chance to sign free’s and bosman’s, What chance do we have now?

    KRO

    • nicky wicky says:

KRO your a fool. Afool and his money are soon parted. The blues fans are probably going to end uplike the villa fans climbing on the gets soon the way things are going until these chinese clowns leave!

  • jazzzy786 says:

The accounts will be delayed again and again until Carson Yeungs trial in October meaning the transfer embargo will remain and the team will struggle to compete. BIHL are desperate to hang onto BCFC as it is their cash cow. Basically, until Carson gets convicted or acquitted we are stuck in limbo.

    • almajir says:

For the sake of clarity, Carson’s trial doesn’t begin until November 28

    • nicky wicky says:

we should be down st andrews banging on the gates for them to leave if that is the case. theres already rumours going arouind that butland and other star names are going to be sold this summer although i can’t see it as the squad is already very thin at 17 players with a transfer embargo. we need something to happen so that we can plan for next season!

  • Manicmac says:

Why is anyone surprised as yet another date sales by. To say this lot are inept is a massive understatement. They are treating all blues fans with contempt. When your in business, you can always tell when your dealing with someone doddgy. They break their payment promises and start making lots and lots of excuses which get weaker and weaker. They need to be pulled up short. At the moment they are getting by because of our support. They are doing nothing to generate any confidence in the club. The owner is under investigation he hasn’t been struck dumb, so why doesn’t he or one of his colleagues come out and made some sort of statement. Peter Pannu has been made to look a complete fool – he is the only one of them I have some sympathy with, as I believe he has done a good job with no support from Hong Kong.

  • bluenose08 says:

I have been scrolling down reading all the comments looking to see what your take on the situation is almajir !! You have reported on b.i.h.l. statement but havent given your opinion on what might or will happen next.
    k.r.o.

    • almajir says:

      My take on it?

It’s a non-news story. I posted this for clarification so people wouldn’t panic thinking it was the accounts we needed for the transfer embargo. These had to be delayed as they can’t come out before the overdue ones, and they’ve delayed them until a month after the July 31 date that was set for the old accounts.

      Nothing has changed.

      • Big Bill says:

So 31st July is the REALLY IMPORTANT DATE. That is currently the date that the OFFICIAL documentation released in Hong Kong says that the June 2011 accounts will be published. The 2 dates in May 2012 (18/5/12 pre play-off final in Pannu’s programme nots AND the 31/5/12 date which followed when 18/5/12 fell through are just “window-dressing” to keep us amused. HOWEVER, if the DO miss 31st July (team already IN training, at least 3 friendlies played and still in the Transfer Window) then we really must complain on the streets etc.

        • nicky wicky says:

yeh if the accounts aren’t published by the end of july then it is really serious as then the fa will impose a transfer embarrgo meaning no players at all will be able to be signed until the accounts are fined. this situation can’t go on. It is past a joke. These people have to make a decision either publish the accounts and do something so that chris hughton can plan for next season and the fans know what the team will be or sell up!

        • nicky wicky says:

if they miss the 31 july date the the fa slaps atransfer embargo on and no players can go in or out and the club is really in the sh**te. they will be making up the team with kids!

  • Bluehobba says:

As in a previous blog, was the last set of accounts mean’t to be published by today as mentioned in the mail

  • Griff says:

Will I ever log onto this web site and read some good news?! I can envisage us playing league one football inside 2 years!

  • Steve-0 says:

Who will you support when Blues go out of business? Albion for probably as I live in Smethwick.

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

    :)

Is it really worth it Steveo?

  • Jay Sidney says:

    A side-splitter from Steve-O (NOT!)

Seriously, the club’s owners have shown nothing but contempt for many thousands of Blues fans. How many lots of delayed accounts is it now? A “new investor” has been found? Really? So who is it?

The directors have spun out one lot of pretty shameless deceit after another and are surely not fit for purpose.

It wasn’t so very long ago that David Gold pointed out that he was so concerned by how fans turned on him and the others in the directors’ box immediately after Blues had been relegated (after the last match of the season against Blackburn), that he had considered resigning.

The current directors don’t attend matches the same as the previous owners did. However, there is clearly worry and deepening frustration among supporters.

Many think ugly scenes at St Andrew’s won’t be a good thing. However, doesn’t the way the club is currently being run only increase this sort of possibility if proper financial statements and the intentions of the owners are not forthcoming before the 2012-13 season starts?

    • nicky wicky says:

Yeh the bull that’s coming out of st’andrew’s right now makes the last lot look tame. Sullivan and gold made us laugh saying they were going to sign this player or that. This lot started off by saying they were going to invest £80 million in the team remember, and numerous big name players which nevermaterialised so we ended up getting relegated. we managed to win a cup, but now we’ve got this pantomime with the accounts and the courts! At leaast the last lot were never in court, but they were happy to finish 17th in the prem and take the profits. they never had a passion for the club like they do for west ham where they’ve given them a big transfer kitty.

  • Gwynfor says:

I have supported Blues for 60 years and have been a season ticket holder for over 40 years,we have 5 season tickets in my family and my Company also use the corporate facilities on a regular basis but I will not be spending another penny at the club untill they come clean and tell the fans what is going on,filing the overdue accounts would be a start.

    • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

      Same as Gwyn

Have 3 season tickets and have had one personally since 72.

No chance of me renewing unitl I see these accounts.

      It’s taking the p**s

  • andy says:

The football club itself must be surviving on the parachute payments and sale of players, £5 million could be forthcoming for Ben Foster soon. Its highly likely BIH will have to cut their losses and sell up. Its a case of if and when that happens. Pannu has already stated that he has advised the sale of the club, and that shows exactly where we are at this moment.

    • Agent McLeish says:

Maybe they’ll take the Foster money first and then run.

    • nicky wicky says:

Look mate they won’t be selling anybody until the accounts are published cause the squad is small enough already. before they sell somone they’ve got to have somone to come in to replace them, but there’s a transfer embargo. At the moment the way it’s going they’ll be augmenting the first team with academy players next season!

    • nicky wicky says:

they can’t sell ben foster to anyone at the mo while the transfer embargo is in ploace as they have only got butland left in the first team. doyle is out of contract like carr so they’re both bosmans and can’t be signed, so if the club sells foster they will have just 16 players left in the first team and will have to make up the numbers from the academy so i don’t see it happening anytime soon. It’s just speculation!

      • almajir says:

Nicky, you’re wrong. They can sell anyone they like – replacing them would be at the league’s discretion but I suspect the league would be okay with us flogging a 5mil keeper and bringing in a bosman

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

In the absence of any information, missing account deadlines and being on a transfer embargo can only indicate major problems to us fans.

Not a penny will I part with until something happens.

  • Jay Sidney says:

I like the sound of what andy says re believing it to be highly likely BIH (don’t forget the “L” – or hell thousands of Blues fans have been going through for months now!) will cut their losses and sell the club.

Peter Pannu has announced on the one hand that a new investor has been identified (who believes that?) and on the other has also apparently advised the owners to sell the club. Can anybody make sense of this?

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

    Yes

The bloke aint got a clue

  • Alex T says:

Im another one who (after much soul searching) is not going to renew my season ticket until the accounts are released. It will mean missing the discount, or worse (should no figures appear) missing my fortnightly escape from the mrs…. er I mean pint, match, pint :-)

If there are more people who do the same, this may cause hardship for the club in the short term, but may help us long term by cutting off the money supply to these blood suckers.

P.S. I place no blame on Pannu at all. I think him and CH are doing a great job under the circumstances. Pannu is probably more frustrated than anyone at being made to look a fool by the corrupt chinese lot that own the club.

  • Art Watson says:

I appreciate I run the risk of being called a thick Brummie but can someone give me some valid reasons as to why the publication of the accounts are being delayed.

Who is likely to benefit from this delay?

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

Art, the answer is no, no-one can give you VALID reasons just speculation.

One fact that can’t be denied is that something is wrong otherwise we would have seen them on time like evey other year. Being delayed 3 times just increases everybodys perception of the size of the problem. This is not helped by Pee Pee throwing out random dates for publication.

  • Art Watson says:

You could be right but there must be a money man out there who can enlighten us- please.

Why do companies normally delay publications.?

What would an exceptable reason for doing so?

  • Alex T says:

My take on this is that ‘most’ accountancy firms wont publish another firms annual accounts if they are not happy with the information they have recieved (ie. confirmation of where funds came from, what funds were used for, audits to prove records are accurate, etc..)
So I would ‘speculate’ that as Carson Yeung is under investigation for money Laundering, there is something that they have spotted in the books that they do not want to put their name to OR there is something in the books that may incriminate CY further and BIH are holding back the accounts…. although I think the former is more likely.
It baffles me that the company is allowed to carry on like this without being wound up?? After all, surely the tax man wont stand around waiting to find out how much he is owed??
Part of me hopes they lose every cent they own, cause the more this drags on, the more bitter i get….

No problems Alex, just want to keep things the right side of the law.

I appreciate and understand why people are miffed but we do have to be sensible about it

  • P.J.Nicholls says:

I also will not renew my 3 season tickets until I receive assurances that the club will not fold up immediately I like many others renewed their season tickets.
Perhaps this action copied by all season ticket holders will accelerate some action.

  • Oldbluenose says:

Do you, Almajir, or anyone else of this forum, actually know what the ramifacations will be concerning the NON_PUBLICATION of these overdue accounts,?.
The obvious one concerning a transfer embargo, is already in place and is starting to hurt us right now,!!.
What worries me, [ and every one else,], is what the league can/will do next if they are further delayed,!!.
    HELP PLEASE.

    • almajir says:

Oldbluenose, I’ve said this before a few times – there are no further ramifications for the non publication of the accounts after a transfer embargo has been enforced. I’ve checked this with the FL.

I repeat there are no further ramifications and no further sanctions against BCFC from the FL for non-publication of accounts

      (also, this isn’t a forum)

  • Oldbluenose says:

    A double apolgy to you,

1st, That due to the worry of the future of our club, I obviously missed your earlier clarifacation,!!.
But I am very relieved that is the case,!!!.

2nd, Thou art correct of course, This is not a forum, It is the communication part that made me use that description,!!.

    Please accept my apologies.

  • Atahualpa is a BlueNose says:

If we do end up missing out on a transfer target or two thanks to the delay in the BCFC accounts being published and the embargo being lifted, I cannot accept that CH would be willing to put up with this bullshit much longer, regardless of whether PP is keeping him in the loop or not. Come to think of it, how can PP claim that as he is not on the board of the BIHL debacle, he cannot fully relate the circumstances over in HK, and can only go on what he is informed of by shysters over there. It makes a mockery of what he claims to know and what is happening. Under this sort of operating environment, most would accept that CH would not be to blame if he walked. If that happens then they – the BCFC and BIHL boards – really will see the ire of Bluenoses.

At first most were in awe at what we might achieve with CY’s firm in control, then we were in sorrow at what happened with relegation and his well documented legal issues. Now we are just plain angry and frustrated at the continous delaying, dithering and downright pissing around which is making us subject to ridicule and uncertainty.

It truly amazes me that not a single individual from BIHL has the fortitude to step into the breach in CY’s enforced absence. What does that indicate??

Surely we are too far down the road for there to be any chance of redemption with this crew in charge. There simply appears to be no way back for them.

It truly pains me to think that in a great big city such as ours, we have no local business entrepreneurs with knowledge of our club and its true potential, willing to form a company to purchase it and lead its growth. Maybe they’re out there and just waiting for a lot more faecal matter to hit the fan so that they can buy at a ridiculous price. Nothing worse than a loser who does not know when to leave the table.

I recall some years back in the Spion Kop executive boxes how some arseholes would come along playing the big-time charlies, and bigging themselves up as local boys done good. Also, they would discuss – rather loudly – how they would help the club move forward and wanted folk with local connections in charge so that we were a ‘proper’ family club. Bluster and bullshit. Blues could become – and have been in the past – a self-sustaining entity and that will more than likely become the way forward for many.

Firstly, we just need those friggin idiots to realise that it’s over.

    • Euston 9.18 says:

Think we should delay buying season tickets.

Until the far east lot publish the accounts.

      K`R`O.

      • Atahualpa is a BlueNose says:

        Euston

I cannot help but feel that by refraining from buying season tickets will not have the desired effect on those that we wish to take notice of our concerns.

Concerted action will have to come at some stage if they do not budge. Just finding it difficult to fathom what on earth the BIHL board think they are playing at. We know that things are going to look rather grim for the forseeable future, but do they not realise that the longer this drags on the lesser the chance of them leaving with any dignity and credibility??

Almajir, what’s your stance on this – do we buy or not?? Do we show signs of protestation or leave it to its own devices and see what develops??

  • andy says:

I can fully understand how people want to vote with their feet and refuse to purchase season tickets, but only the club will come to any harm, and remember virtually half the gate receipt money last season went on Zigic’s wages! Any potential investor or buyer will want to see big crowds at St Andrews, thats the reason David Sullivan took the club over after seeing 25,000 attend a game against Stoke. It doesnt matter who buys and invests money into the club, its our football club and its vital we play our part and keep renewing our season tickets.

    • Gwynfor says:

Sorry Andy I don’t agree,if we all buy our season tickets BIHL will carry on with all the bullshit and sell all our assets,if they can see the fans are not renewing there season tickets they might file the accounts (that is a big might) you never know.Regarding a potential buyer I can’t see the season ticket sales will make much difference personally.

    • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

      Andy

No-one has said we wont buy/renew rather that we will wait til the accounts then buy.

The problems that you allude to that this could cause the club is actually caused by the club itself.

  • andy says:

What some people tend to forget and its important to remember, is that Carson is not ripping off Blues or bleeding money out of the club. In fact its the other way around, the football club owes Carson, he did lend the club £17 million out of his own pocket. Now im a big believer in innocent til proven guilty. The club is ticking along nicely and we still have Hughton as manager. Im not an accountant so i dont understand all the politics of the current situation but wot i do kno is that i intend to get my ticket and support my football club.

    • nicky wicky says:

A fool and his money are easily parted as the saying goes! carson yeung claimed to be a billionaiire though it must have been in hong kong dollars as since his finances have been published it seems he has spent most of his money on buying blues and on a transfer kitty. He didn’t seem to make any precaautions for relegation, or other senarios so now were in this pickle.

He is just going to have to accept that he is not going to get his money back and cut his losses up and sell up to the highest bidder. The current situation can’t go on, as CH can’t plan for next season no sales in or out can be made until the transfer embargo is lifted. They can sign bosmans maybe, but i can see the first team being augmented by academy playersnext season at this rate. I am not renewing until the embargo is lifted and i see what the team is!

  • Jay Sidney says:

It was said earlier (and rightly so, I believe) that, despite the legal restraints surrounding Carson Yeung, the man has not been “struck dumb”. So why has he not made a statement? The entire board of directors must surely know the strength of feeling and current worry among many thousands of Blues supporters. Yet not a single member of this board has possessed the courage or even the basic common decency to step into the breach and say anything. They appear unconcerned their pathetic and disgraceful stewardship of BCFC has got the club in such a mess, left paying supporters desperate with worry. They also don’t appear too bothered that a morale-sapping transfer embargo is in place until these jokers finally publish the financial accounts. This wretched, cowardly silence condemns every last one of them!!!

Furthermore, it was mentioned above that if Chris Hughton became so frustrated and appalled by this hellish mess, then he could walk away from the job and then BCFC and BIHL would really see the ire of Blues fans. Can’t argue with that (although I passionately hope CH stays).

  • Dirty Bertie says:

Would all those threatening not to renew their season tickets please have the decency to quote their block, row and seat numbers so that I have a better chance of getting a good seat next season. Comments regarding neighbours, quality of nearest toilets, burger bars, etc would also be much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation ;) (just practicing)

    • Gwynfor says:

I didn’t say i wasn’t going to renew my season ticket,if you read my comment i said until the accounts are filed which i hope will be before July 2nd.The matches i have missed at home in the last 60 years you can count on 1 hand so no dought i will be there again next season.

      • Dirty Bertie says:

As a taxi driver once said, “You talkin’ to me?” ‘Cause I wasn’t talking about you specifically, Gwynfor. But, now that we are, it’s a wee bit unprincipled to urge others not to renew their STs when you probably will renew yours whatever happens. 60 year habits are hard to kick :) (how dya do the one with sunglasses?)

Having been present at the liquidation of Atherstone Town I look at the resignation of the two directors in a different light.
If the board of Directors are found to be negligent in the running of a Limited Company then they can be found to be guilty of running a unprofitable company (Going concern)& as such can be found responsible for any losses accrued whilst operating the business of that company.
Have the two directors been advised of this and are trying get out before the authorities come down on the BOD to direct guilt against the Directors.
