Carson Mortgage Case Update

In the last hour, reports have come out from China with regards to Carson and his ongoing court battle with Wing Hang Bank over his house on The Peak.

Carson has been given 56 days to vacate the Barker Road property and to pay up the outstanding HK$50million (circa £4.1mil) plus interest.

I expect there will be fuller reports made in the Chinese print media later on today and as such I will update this blog when they come in.

  • Dan Brazier says:

Thanks for the update boss, once again nothing reported across the mainstream British media!!! Just curious but if Carson’s assets are frozen how is he expected to pay off what he owes?? Very interesting to see how the courts over in the far East operate compared to here in England

  • Macc lad says:

    Well said Thongs!

  • Clive says:

    Here! Here ! Thongs

  • Clive says:

    i meant Hear ,Hear ,i think ?
so much for education,or lack of it in my case..

    • Simon Evans says:

You’re right Clive. Hear hear! Carried over from 18th Century British parliamentary exclamation “hear him, hear him”, apparently. Anyway, mixed views on CY. Yes, thanks for Carling Cup but I think he overstretched himself buying the club. Time for a new regime now…

  • Rorky1875 says:

yes thongs, he’s achieved a lot but time for him to move on me thinks

  • Oldbluenose says:

I echo, Dan Brazier’s thoughts, How is Carson Yueng, supposed to pay up if his money is frozen,?.

On the face of it, — It seems non-sensical,!!.

  • AR says:

Again, thanks for keeping us up-to-date.

  • MattRick says:

I wonder If this will be what the board is waiting to hear, could possibly now mean that he will have to sell up, we shall see.

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

Why does he have to vacate if he pays what he owes on the property?

    • biggun says:

Prob because it was brought with fraudulant money ??? who knows whats going on .. its all very ambiguous… oftenpartisan is trying there hardest to bring us news….. more news that anyone else…. we need some clarity or statements from the board itself… to whats happening with our club

  • tismyk says:

You have got to be a Villa fan, or the most demented bluenose ever

  • Blue Gaze says:

Completely agree with Thongs. We love you Carson, we do, ohhhh Carson we love you. Carson Yeungs blue and white army, BCFC!!

  • almajir says:

Thongs is getting some abuse for this but I’m with Macc Lad and Clive – some of the best moments of our blues lives have come about under the reign of Carson etc and people should remember that

    • tismyk says:

Carson is putting us out of buisness, and you can`t see that, we can`t even give him enough money throuh season ticket sales to pay off his mortgage!

      • almajir says:

        Say what?

Blues hit trouble a) because of relegation which cost us £24mil (thanks to underperforming players) anc b) cos Carson’s arrest meant he couldn’t stick any more money into the club.

The mortgage that you refer to was put directly into the club to keep it going in April 2011 – that’s a fact. Carson put his house on the line to help out the club.

Yeah, he was a bit naive, a bit stupid and now he’s a bit skint. I do want a change of things because he can’t take us any further but I’m not going to have a go at him for running out of cash to run a club.

And ps – no money from ST sales will go to Carson. HSBC has seen to that.

  • bluenose08 says:

whats all this we love you carson ! The guys taken us to the brink of administration, we cant get the accounts published which could result in ch leaving who incidently was peter pannus choice carson wanted zola ! And we could lose more players.
Also all the success we achieved last season was down to ch and the players as carson was stuck in hong kong and was unable to lift a finger to help the club and still cant !
I was one of the few that didnt want him to buy the club as if you remember the first time he tried he couldnt raise the money and that set alarm bells ringing for me.
    k.r.o.

    • Big_Bad_Beno says:

bluenose08 is spot on for my money. I have never trusted the guy since the time he could afford the club in the first place, and never wanted him to get his hands on the club. Alarm bells were ringing from that moment on! Initially people were Googling Carson Yeung and getting hits for a steel magnet multi billionaire, then the realisation that we were in fact getting a hairdresser! How is this guy a fit & proper person? All you people saying it’s not his fault he’s had his assets seized need your head examining. The club is in serious peril, and I can only see two options out. One, he by some miracle gets off (and promptly sells the club) or two, we follow fall into administration. Glasgow Rangers have achieved no end of success with funds they never had, and now look at them. Do not put this guy on a pedestal, he is not in trouble because of mistaken identity.

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

    why though

  • Chris says:

Though I agree with the comments sayin CY should sell up, I do worry that there’s no one out there who would buy us in our current state. We were in much better shape when the barrow boys were in charge & they had us up for sale for a long time & the only one to come in was CY. KRO

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

Why can’t Carson make a comment referring to our club?

  • Oldbluenose says:

The Voice of Reason,;, Why indeed, is there no message of any kind forthcoming,?. Carson Yueng, faces charges of corruption, but that surely does not prevent him or some spokesperson, relaying some pertinent comment[s], !!.

  • Eric says:

You say relegation was the problem but our former owners did not get rid of as many players. They also did the same for WHU. Hence we went straight back up, so did WHU.

  • Ray says:

I see the Birmingham Mail calls this site influential.God knows why. Some of the comments are ludicrous.
The situation is simple.Birmingham Internal Holdings has no money.Carson Yeung et al bought something that was overpriced and which they could not afford. The way Pannu has communicated with the fans shows contempt. The local media – both print and broadcast – have been totally useless in tackling the whole Yeung fiasco. In spite of all this we have had a fantastic season and we have(for the moment) a talented coach in CH.Essentially there is nothing more to say.We await with interest.
    PS
Dan Brazier’s implied suggestion that the legal system is superior in the UK is nonsense.

    • Atahualpa is a BlueNose says:

The Birmingham Mail acknowledges OP due to its ability to garner and gauge a broad spectrum of views and opinions.

Out of all the various blogs and sites connected to our club, this one is without any doubt respected for its timely updates, balanced views, quality of details and consistency. Many of us use it as a first point of call to know what is going on with all things Blue.

When you said Almajir “something gotta give” – do you believe that time is now here??
Surely even if CY can appeal this decision, he simply does not have many options left.

It is sad to think of what may have been.

  • freddiek says:

When we are singing the praises of our esteemed owner let’s just remember that money laundering – the crime that he is accused of, is extremely serious. These monies being laundered arise from criminal activities – that is why it is laundered. The usual sources are drug trafficking and prostitution. Yeung has been quite keen to splash his money around – because actually it’s not his money – hence why the authorities are seeking to recover it. I don’t think anyone should be praising him up – it’s frankly disgusting.

    • Atahualpa is a BlueNose says:

I don’t think he’s a drug dealer or pimp. In some large scale money laundering cases, it is usual that some individuals or organisations do not wish to pay tax on their earnings/income and do not declare it. Tax evasion is a serious charge as well, but normally follows if they can’t make the laundering charge stick. It could very well be that CY might take the route of offering the due taxes with a hefty fine.

Who knows – whatever the case, he is up pooey street without a paddle or gloves to stop it spreading and infecting………..

  • James Black says:

Sometimes blues fans get right up my nose. Always whinging and moaning and never happy even when backed. Frankly as far as im concerned Carson took on a project he couldnt afford but my god he did not do anything to harm us intentionally and frankly im grateful as nobody else wanted us and ur thinking there is a buyer out there when there is not. Just support the guy get your knives out of backs and support the club the team the manager and the board and shut up your moaning. The same creeps whinging are the same creeps that wanted the old regime out too and they wanted Francis out and probably even Freddie Goodwin. SHUT UP WHINGERS and fingers crossed for Carson and shut up the rest of you get right up my nose whinge whinge whinge whinge. A better future will descend upon us and i hope all goes well for Carson. Talk about kicking a guy when he is down. NOBODY WANTS TO BUY US SO SHUT UP.

    • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

The Blues fans that get up my nose are the ones who constantly tell us everything is OK and if you’re not happy shut up.

      • James Black says:

Paul yes i know things not alriight we all know that but kicking dead men and kicking all others concerned isnt helping. There is no new buyer im sure of it and we have to stand behind him and frankly he had the best of intentions but got shot down when he got charged and he was not able to continue with his mission. i understand the frustration but the moaning doesnt help thats my point really and your not wrong with your comment. But still i believe we should stand behind him.

        • Dirty Bertie says:

Agree with your sentiments James but, you must have a bloody big nose!

        • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

James why the feck should I stand behind him? IF he is a drug money launderer he deserves to rot in hell. Drugs kill and it’s not a minor thing. IF he is a drug money launderer and he was cleaning his money through paying over the odds that’s his fault.

I’d support the guy more if they would just do us the courtesy of telling us whats going on re the club and its future. At the very least we deserve that. Are all the people saying we don’t need to know happy to go another season not knowing what’s going on?

          • James Black says:

Understand you paul i know its frustrating. I wont bicker about the morals of what the money was from and i doubt it was drug money. Money is laundered for many reasons and lets not assume its anything to do with drug money. Just tthink its our best option till some development happens and well when things go legal then the sensible thing to do is remain silent. Lets just see and lets all hope that whatever happens we get through this as a club and im sure we will.

  • James Black says:

Totally agree with thongs. STOP MOANING

  • Poppa999 says:

    We all care about Carson,
    Carson cares about us.
    We ALL care our BCFC

    :-)

  • Frankie says:

Guys just to clear this up – Yeung is being investigated for money laundering by the Hong Kong Narcotics Bureau. He is therefore being accused of funding his lifestyle, including his business investments from monies obtained from illgal drugs – period.

This is not a guy who filled in his tax form incorrectly – he is a serious criminal, get real.

Why do you think he appointed Pannu, a qualified lawyer, as his assistant?

The only way forward is regime change – hardly the same circumstances as Sullivan/Gould

    • James Black says:

Frankie point taken and i know its not a traffic violation but still all the same he came in paid too much for us and got himself deeper in the poop by doing so. I am not going to moralize about his crime and yes i take your point but i dont believe putting the boot in helps. Most of you are not doing that exactly i know also but still in adversity, stand together as the whining is adding to the problems. No good screaming for new owners when there is none.

    • Dirty Bertie says:

      ALLEDGEDLY

    • Atahualpa is a BlueNose says:

      Frankie

If CY was suspected of dealing in drugs to fund his lifestyle and it was thought to be the root of his wealth, he would have also been charged with a drug offence or two. His charge at present relates to a period between 2001 – 2007, when he had nearly £60m in his accounts which are unaccounted for. Therefore he was/has been charged with money laundering. In addition to CY, his father and ex-wife were also charged. If there was a drug connection, it would have followed that others were also charged in relation to the selling/distributing/producing of narcotics. Why not go after the whole ‘network’?? Drugs involvement would ensure a more severe case and sentencing – should he be found guilty.

In a court of law, it is not about what you have done or might have done – only what can be proven and evidenced.
