Hughton and Norwich

This time ten years ago Blues were looking forwards to their debut season in the Premier League having beaten Norwich City on penalties in the playoff final. Fast forward to now and it’s Norwich City in the Premier League – and it looks like they’re taking our manager from us.

At the time of writing the only thing we have to go on is Colin Tattum‘s tweet that it looked likely that Chris Hughton was going to go to Carrow Road; I’m sorry to say however that it just firms up various rumours I’ve heard in the last 24 hours and that I think it is the real deal.

I won’t lie, it hurts. I know I’ve said before that I wouldn’t blame Chris Hughton if he moved on and I stand by that. Despite the hurt that someone who I hoped would remain loyal to Blues in the face of adversity isn’t going to, I can’t be angry with him for wanting out of the mess that is Birmingham City Football Club.

Right now we have fifteen first team players tied down for next season, with the possibility of two more IF we can sort their contracts. We are operating under a transfer embargo that has been in place since March 1 with no sign of ending, with accounts more than nine months overdue with no sign of being posted and with owners whose deafening silence regarding the club is only punctuated by frequent trips to court to see more of their empire crumble.

Whilst it’s bad that we’re losing a manager who made us proud of our team once again, what manager in their right mind could you see taking on a case like Blues in its current form? How desperate for a job would you have to be to take a position where you don’t know and potentially can’t trust what money is available to rebuild the squad – or even when you’re going to be allowed to do so?

I hope to God that tomorrow night will roll around and it turns out that this is hyperbole, that Hughton turns them down or something happens that gives me faith in the club once again. I hope that but I don’t see it coming, and I will willingly admit to being just a little afraid of what will happen next.

The only other thing to hope for is that this is an impetus for change. McLeish going across the expressway last year brought us a change in management and a change to the style of play that Blues showed. Is it just possible that should this come to pass that this will eventually end with a change in ownership and a break from all the problems of the last twelve months? We can but hope.

  • Warley Blue says:

Sounds like it’s “Thanks for the memories Chris”, unless someone can pass me a straw to clutch. What a shame; the best football we’ve seen for years, but because of the utter shambles running the club, we can’t hold on to him.

  • BcfcMidlandsNo1 says:

If he does go who do you think we should go for (that’s if they even want to join) ?

  • only-me says:

This was the news Ive been dreading, and expecting, like I said on a previous post, the car crash was about to happen, we are now skidding out of control, I just hope we survive.

  • KiwiJohn says:

If it’s not Norwich it would be another club. Good luck if he goes there. PP would be a miracle worker if he got him to stay! The sooner the our owners are forced into doing something the sooner we can start rebuilding and planning for the future. It seems such a shame for all the great background staff at BCFC who are doing a brilliant job under difficult circumstances.

  • Big mart says:

I may get slatted for this but let’s take big eck back he knows the club inside
Out and we took 3 mil of the vile
    Any thoughts ??

    • almajir says:

      No, no and thrice no.

    • Oby says:

      OMG No, not ever !!

    • nicky wicky says:

      you must but mad!

    • Agent McLeish says:

No, no and no to McLeish, even if his stock was good the majority of the fans would never forgive him for going the the Vile, I mean he could have gone to many clubs at that time; and who could have blamed him with the owners we have? But he chose the Vile, very poor decision on his part. No to Zola as well who CY was in favour of, we know he knows jack .

PP seems to be a good judge of a manager so hopefully he’ll be given autonomy to fill the vacancy within the restrictions he’ll have. With CH going that is another asset lost, our club is being ruined by a bunch of dodgy charlatans hiding away in the far east. This will all make very interesting reading when it comes out in the wash.

  • pete says:

Houghton and foster to go now Butland Burke and Redmond to follow.
In 55 days and the hair dresser keeps his house.

    • nicky wicky says:

it’s time for the hairdresser to go me thinks. i’m not renewing while he’s still in charge. have you heard the expression buying a pig in a poke. if redmond foster burke go then thats just 12 players in the squadthey’ll have to put out kids next season!

    • nicky wicky says:

all you fools who have renewwed your season tickets are just keeping him in place. You’ve got to send a message that he’s not wanted anymore, and he should get out before he sells any more of the clubs assetsto fund his folly! He’ll never get his money back. I told some prats on facebook who thought we should stay in the championship and consolidate that if we didn’t go up there would be another firesaleso there would be no chance to consolidate. looks like it might come true unless these clowns are forced out. If it’s true about Hughton and the pressure he’s be put under then it’s time to do what the Villa fans did and get down St Andrews and climb over the gates with our banners waving!

  • Barry says:

The move wouldn’t surprise me and I cannot hold it against him. He has performed miracles with a fraction of the resources available to most managers. I fear that it will be difficult for us to hold on to some key players for next season and the probability of us going the same way as Portsmouth is higher than our chances of fighting for promotion. To Chris I say a big “thank you” for what he brought to the club; to any possible successor I would say “God help you”

    • nicky wicky says:

portsmouth were heavily in debt to the taxman blues aren’t. It’s just carson yeung clinging on to power in the hope he’ll get his money back by selling off players each transfer window! Blues are not heading for administration were just waiting for this clown yeung to get the message he has to sellup and go and accept whatever he can get it’s a buyers market now. He’s sold allmost all the players worth selling and if he sells anymore they’ll have to put a team of kids out next year. maybe that’s why chris hughton decided to left because he’s been told they’re thinking of another firesale? Why did Steve McManaman resign from the board? These clowns can’t accept their time is up!

  • Art Watson says:

At the moment the club is a complete shambles and no-one could blame CH for moving on.

I think there will be lots of interest for any out of work manager but attracting a top guy will be impossible.

What a bloody mess -the owners should hang their heads in shame .

  • Chris says:

I think if CH does go it may be a case of promoting within, maybe Colin Calderwood fancies another crack at management, or possibly Paul Trollope, either way it wouldn’t be the same without CH at the helm. KRO

  • Art Watson says:

Just one word to sum up what’s going on CRISIS.

  • Alan Tompkins says:

You blues fans will lie through your teeth to get rid of him.
Have heard from friends who are involved within your club that he has alienated most of your players. As a canary fan, i personally don’t want him or his style at management at Carrow road.
I do feel sorry for you guys in what your club is going through thiough. Hope it sorts itself out and the club comes through.
    All the best..OTBC

    • Spotlight Kid says:

…clearly a spoonful of something short of a full Norfolk dumpling this one (or a Villa fan disguised as a scarecrow).

Chris, that’s what the countryside does to ‘ee. You too will have straw comng out your ears by Xmas. Stay urban, stay civilised & stay in Brum – after all there’s more to life than a steady reliable job. Just see the future points deduction and 9 available first team players as another of life’s little challenges!!

  • Macc lad says:

    Gutted.

  • nicky wicky says:

These chinese clowns have got to go. I’m really sorry for carson losing his home, but he bought a pig in a poke he didn’t prepqre for any unforseen circumstances, and claimed to be a billionaire so he got himself in this mess, and he should stop taking us down with him!

  • Blueboy 88 says:

    Nightmare on Garrison Street…………………!!!

  • 100% Gutted says:

No straws to clutch i’m afraid, it is a done deal and will be announced imminently, totally gutted.

  • Euston 9.18 says:

No news any where except on here that C`H is off to Norwich ??

So a tweet from the bloke at the mail is gospel ??

Just read what Norwich are after..”A manager who has had top flight experience, here or abroad”

Mmmmmmmm how long was C`H at N`castle till he was sacked ??

Thought there hero, who is out of work,S`Bruce would of been top of there list, been in the prem much longer than C`H & no compo to pay.

But what do I know…well I know another manager leaves us in the SHIT before the season starts.

If he does go to Norwich,I mean “F*CKING NORWICH” LoL !!!!!!!

Really setting your dreams high there CHRIS !!

2nd season relegation syndrome the coming season for Norwich, read the player who scored there goals for them is leaving, might follow his ex~manager to the vile.

    K`R`O.

  • Masaccio says:

Any chance we can hang the board by their nuts on the Coventry Road for sh1tt1ng on our club big time?

  • Masaccio says:

Or put it this way – the chinese are selling as mush as they can before they sell the club to nwew owners, maximising their profit???

    • nicky wicky says:

got it in one. there are no accounts probably. they’ll just keep spinning us a line as each deadline passes bihl is bankrupt and the only asset they have is blues and they’re trying to strip it bare until they’re kicked out or there’s notihing left to sell and then they’ll sell blues to the highest bidder or it will go the way of accrington stanley!

  • Euston 9.18 says:

    9.10 am.

    Watching sky sports news.

Not one thing about C`H. going to Norwich “STRANGE” ??

  • Masaccio says:

Its on the BBC site now

  • blaneh says:

Can’t blame Chris for going (even if it is Norwich), the way i see it if there was any sort of light at the end of the tunnel he would of stayed.

All this confirms for me is that we are going to stay in this bloody messy situation for the foreseeable future, reports will keep getting delayed and the transfer embargo wont get lifted before the end of August.

What tiny iota of faith/hope i had left with the board will go along with Chris. Almost feel like taking my season ticket back!

    • nicky wicky says:

doubt the transfer embargo will be lifted as i doubt there are any accounts to publish. can’t believe the bull that keeps coming out about a technicallity. probably got someof carsons dodgy funds hidden in them, maybe? so blues won’t be able to sign anyone and they’ll keep trying to sell players during each transfer window to clear their debt as blues is their cash cow!

  • Mortonsblue says:

Pannu said no to the Baggies (because they offered him no money) hail Pannu what a great bloke!

Pannu said yes to Norwich (because they offered him (Lerner’s) money) what a snake!

Does he realise that he will now lose more in ST sales than he will get in compensation?

I will be calling the club this morning to ask for my £1200 back!

  • JohnnyZulu says:

Euston, you have no clue. Sky have no clue either, they get their news from the Mail. They know what is going on, just look at their stories the last week on Albion and then Norwich on Hughton. Most reliable and more accurate

  • Graham Woodward says:

I don’t think we can blame PP. He’s as much a puppet in this as anyone. He has no idea of what’s going on apart from what he’s told. For all we know he was told the accounts would be out by the end of May, and he relayed that information to the fans and CH, next he’s told they won’t be out and he has to then go back to CH and tell him so.

  • Giblets says:

Pat ”the vile” Murphy just said on radio 5 we have given permission to Norwich to speak to CH

  • Euston 9.18 says:

So what can the new manager look forward to ??

    No OWNER.
    No BOARD.
    No MONEY.
No DECENT PLAYERS (FOSTER,BURKE,REDMOND,BUTLAND,DAVIES) WILL BE OFF.

Thought IAN HOLLAWAY,would be a decent choice, plays attacking entertaining football, but if he reads the above,we have no chance.
C`H has always said,he new what was going on at board level, well perhaps he knows what’s going to happen at BLUES & I fear it’s not going to be good.

People say PORTSMOUTH are in dire trouble. LoL !!!!!!!

  • Blueboy 88 says:

Looks like we are about to lose the whole shooting match here –
Colin Calderwood, Paul Trollope and goalkeeper coach Dave Watson

    Prepare for League One…..Bloody depressing

  • a hawkins says:

Im absolutely heartbroken and wonder where we go from here. It feels as if these owners are ripping the very heart and soul of our club and will take years to get it back. Under Sullivan and Gold the club was stable but these in over two years have managed to rip the club apart. What hurts more than anything is that after over 30 years of supporting my club there is not a damned thing i can do about it.

    • nicky wicky says:

you asshole gold and sullivan bled the club dry until they were forced out and sold the club to the chinaman to spite the blues fans. If killing was legal i’d like to kill those two!

      • BobbyBlue says:

Gold and Sullivan didnt bleed the club dry,,, as football clubs go they left us in good health. The thing I blame them for is selling to CY – for that, they are partly responsible for the mess we are in now. They certainly didnt have the clubs best interests at heart by selling us to an incompetent clown.

        • nicky wicky says:

bobbyblue they were paying themselves a large salary before they left even though they were multimillionaires, and had a billion pound fortune between them and they took the profits every yeaar so you can”t say they weren’t bleeding the club dry. They just dished a bit out so that the manager could get some average players in that would keep them in the premiership!

    • chris says:

yes there is put a £1000 or more into a fund to buy the club.
if we got 20000 of us to do that we could buy the club for £20 million as that is all it is worth now.

  • nicky wicky says:

These clowns will keep lying and telling the fans what they want to hear selling off the clubs asset’s at each transfer window until they sell up or they are kicked out. The sooner the fans realise this lot are living in cloud cuckou land and are clinging on in the hope they will get their money back, and are going to have to be forced out the better!

  • craig egan says:

gutted aint the word im absolutley angry with this board now enough is enough it is time for them to go we cant and shouldn’t put up with this board running the club the way it is being run we have gone back to years of kumar bro’s we really need to start making known how we as a club feel about the way this is run first time ever that i am thinking of not getting season tickets this year after 16 years of my loyalty as season ticket holder SO f****** ANGRY.

  • Bluepenguin76 says:

Gutted!!!. Lets be honest you cant blame CH you cant manage a club in these circumstances. The Chinese have been like a cancer to us,weve saw our releative stability destroyed by two years of total total mismanagement (I’m not a fan of the gold regime either..but atleast it was well run). They (BIHL) cant even sort the basics out!!!…the sooner they JUST F++k off the better, god knows when that will be……………………obviously its going to get a ALOT worse before it gets better :(

    • chris says:

i can blame him, he has players who love him. fans who love him, both want him to stay and this is how he repays them and us.
he knows in 6 months or a year they could be sacking him or the fans at carrow rd may turn on him.
just used us as a stepping stone like so many others over the last three years.

      • Mortonsblue says:

Chris, you can’t blame him, he’s been kept informed and realises how bad things are becoming so with more player sales on the way and a transfer embargo in place he has held up his hands and said enough is enough, I can’t do the impossible without the resources, never mind funding!

  • Art Watson says:

    Just announced on Sky News.

    Looks like a done deal!,

    What a shambles!

  • AL-LAD says:

Wow as like most on here I’m gutted, official statement now on Blues official site, CH to speak with Norwich. Appears things at Blues are bad, but can anyone actually say where this leaves us?
Are we about to lose some of the most promising players we’ve seen come through the youth ranks in decades, Redmond, Butland, can we even keep our top performers from last season, Davis, Burke.

  • Roy Smith says:

Who can blame CH for going?
As for suggesting that Norwich are not a bigger club than us, they might not be massive BUT
They sell out their ground every week irrespective of what division they are in, Unlike us.
They have nearly 20,000 season ticket holders, Unlike us
They are well run, Unlike us.
They are in the Premiership Unlike us
They have money for new players Unlike us
They don’t have Micky Mouse in charge Unike us, and I don’t mean PP who must be as sick of it as we fans are.

  • Mortonsblue says:

Anyone know if there is any truth in Liverpool signing Foday Nabay, our 13 year old midfield protege for £70k?

    • Blueboy 88 says:

I hope not because we might need him in the first team in August…

We are now in a survival battle for the very existence of the club….
If this transfer embargo does not get lifted soon..
I can not see how we will put a team out next season..

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

Thought everything was OK and we were not to moan? Oh look there goes the manager. Don’t moan though anyone cos everything is alright. The richest people in the world are battling it out between em to take us over and do you know it will happen next week. Oh yes. Moan and you’re Vile, anyone can see how great it is.

  • DoctorD says:

So no chairman, no manager, no money, no new players, no owner who can do anything, no hope. Great. And you can be sure CH will take his backroom staff — thanks Chris. Please tell me this is as bad as it gets.

So Blues boss goes to Norwich. Norwich boss goes to Villa. Villa boss goes to…

I did post a comment a while back saying what would be the most ludicrous things that you’d never ever believe would happen, but might. Here’s some stuff “you couldn’t make up” but might happen.:

    McLeish returns to Blues.
Carson Yeung moves to Small Heath.
A consortium led by Pat Murphy takes over the Blues.
    Chris Burke is named player-manager.
St Andrews gets sold to Sainsbury’s and we ground-share with West Brom.
Marlon King goes AWOL in Jamaica.
    We get promoted next year.

  • Bluepenguin76 says:

Voice of reason I agree…..I think many fans have seen what was happening over the last year but have been told its all scare mongering and we are panicking??…I was “panicking on here this time last year. Now look. Im not one to say “told you so “because we all Bluenoses and pulling in the same direction!!. Theyve been many warning signs, nobody can deny it really. We’re very badly run.

The clubs being dragged into a black hole. What can we do, its all being played infront of us and we’re helpless?.

    Im just praying. KRO

  • only-me says:

  • The Khrushchev says:

I believe this is the final straw for most blue noses. Throughout all the turmoil of last season we had our great hope in hughton , whom has been a breath of fresh air around all the behind the scenes antics that have been going on.Not once has he gone public and complained about the dire mess the club is in or the lack of information coming out of Hong Kong and Peter Pan

.Hughton rejuvenated a team and put together a team of rejects and free transfers, whilst playing the most attractive football we have seen at St Andrews in years.

To allow him to go to Norwich is a total disgrace , no disrespect , but this is Norwich we are talking about not Real Madrid or Man United.Norwich are no bigger or better than Blues , they are just better managed at the minute .

We are really just taking the viles blood money for Lambert , we seems to be a coincidence now Yeung is about to lose his pad back home.I wonder if this compensation and the soon to be fire sale of our players will amount to the12 million he needs to keep his house?what an utter joke. The sooner they either sell the club or be forced into the dreaded administration the better.Im sure there are some business people around the world looking at our situation with interest. We can only hope and now start praying.

I do not blame Hughton for going and would thank him for all his efforts over the last year , but no players , no money , no chairman, no one telling us fans what is really going on , delayed accounts that in Peter Pans programmes notes in the play off stated they would be published by the following weekend , even the most loyal of blue noses must be a bit peed off with this announcement today.

What more can go possibly wrong , this is a club that less than 18 months ago was winning a major trophy and is still the most successful midlands club over the last 15 years.

Lets keep the faith cause as we know there will be joys and sorrows to.KRO

  • Graham Woodward says:

If CH does go, I hope he takes Zigic with him!

    • nicky wicky says:

shut up! everytime something happens you and some others blame zigic. deflecting away from the real problem carson yeung and bihl.

  • chris says:

now he’ll twist the knife and come back for players e.g. burke, davies, butland and murphy.
would like Holloway but then why would he want to come to a league one club mentallity with no ambition except to sell it’s assets.

  • evesham blue says:

Hopefully he wont take all his backroom staff as well and someone like Trollope may want to stay on although I wouldnt hold my breath. But let’s get real – you cant say no to a premiership team who offer compensation for your manager really. Least he had the decency not to go to our local rivals anyhow

Sad to see you leave Chris. Can anyone confirm whether the money will stay in the club? Or is it being siphoned off to Hong Kong? From what I can gather Blues look fairly self sufficient but our parent company is dragging us down? Catch 22. Until we publish the accounts we cant sell up and the more hamstrung we then become as we have to sell to keep the cashflow going and cant recruit because of the transfer embargo.

Seems CY is delaying the accounts in a last desperate attempt to cling onto power. Surely something has got to give soon before all the crown jewels are sold down the river?

  • Adam says:

I thought hughton would stay and finish what he has started but I don’t see him bringing any players with him and I think lee Clarke is still available after Huddersfield he got the, on 46 game unbeaten run or something like that or we may have to look at some managers from lower leagues

  • andy says:

Look CH hasnt been at Blues long enough for anyone to be crying in their tea! Ok the style of football was different to McLeish, but CH has acheived nothing other than a failed play off promotion bid.

    • evesham blue says:

Bit harsh considering he took us on a european adventure and came close to promotion when we were more likely to be going the other way but I agree that he hasnt been here long enough to get too upset. Having said that he was the one bright light we had in all of the gloom last year and now he has gone and we have nothing to cling to but straws.

    • Bluepenguin76 says:

Andy for me, its more his leaving would signals the club is in a dire state (as feared) CH is a decent guy, im thinking if he is jumping ship, what does he see coming??……It doesnt bode well. Any manager is replaceable, its just the circumstances surrounding his exit.

  • theurbaneguerilla says:

I’d say get Lee Clarke or Ian Holloway but why would they come? This is a very sad day for our club, if Hughton goes.
I know we said this last year and we ended up having a really exciting season but I can’t help the feeling of utter dejection I’ve got.
Almajir’s right, we should get involved in the Blues Trust. Perhaps he will put up details and contacts so people can join in.
    KRO

  • andy says:

I dont want to stir up a hornets nest saying what i did above, but its fact. I like CH and yes he has been a breath of fresh air but im certainly not going to mope if he takes the Norwich job. He has not been the best manager we have had, to do that you have to emulate McLeish by winning a major trophy! So bring on the next manager.

    • evesham blue says:

lol. You just have by mentioning that traitor to us. You mean the same guy that put us in this situation in the first place with his dodgy signings and then jumped ship to our bitterest foes for good measure?? What kind of warped view you got? McJudas destroyed his Blues legacy when he jumped ship

  • hammy says:

well, the way i see it, and the only answer to all the problems the club has is new owners, and we need them asap……..
so, if theyre out there, lets hope they make their move now…..

    • evesham blue says:

Why would they do that when the accounts are not published and like vultures they are waiting to see if we go under first. The accounts are the first priority but I think CY and his cronies are deliberately delaying them in their last attempt to buy themselves time

      • Paul Carter says:

Evesham noone is waiting. No one wants to buy us. There is no White knight out there.

        • evesham blue says:

Aye. I agree. Publishing accounts is the only way forward as we cant continue like this indefinitely as we cant even sign bosmans and we will most likely lose more players the longer this goes on (stating the obvious)

          • nicky wicky says:

when are you going to get it into your thick head they are never going to publish the accounts. that’s why CH is thinking of leaving. He has to make a team next season from kids and they’lll also probably have a firesale so god knows what the team will look like. It’s an imposssible situation. he’s trying to send a message to the fans before it happens. we’ve got to force these clowns out!

  • Paul Carter says:

Hughton can do one, no different to Johnson or Gardner in my eyes.

Although I fully understand all the reasons he has still walked out on my club.

So a big feck you to him

    • evesham blue says:

Thats harsh to turn on him after what he did for us last year. No way is he in the McCleish territory. I dont blame him. Norwich offered us cash and we took. You dont know whether he wanted to stay or not but the situation at the club is impossible now to work under.

  • andy says:

It was those dodgy signings by McLeish that were our best players last season! Irrespective of him being a turncoat, he won Blues their only Major Trophy.

    • evesham blue says:

The owners backed McCleish recklessly or niaively. We over extended ourselves chasing that dream and now look where we are? Was it worth it when the very future of our club is hanging in the balance? He could have gone to any other club but the Vile and probably have been remembered as a Great despite relegation. But oh no. The one good thing to come out of it was CH who galvanised us and gave us hope this time last year and now he has gone and still the Hong Kong empire clings on as we go to wrack and ruin. It will probably get a lot worse yet

    • evesham blue says:

So Martins, Hleb, Derbyshire, tottenham winger I forget his name and expensive premiership loan signings are still here are they? And we are still paying Zigic’s wages in the championship. Yeah they were great signings. Got us the cup but mortgaged our future. McCleish couldnt even keep us up with 6 games to go and points in the bag as the cup runs cost us our premiership survival as we were knackers. Despite this – his tactical know how couldnt even get us the points we needed to stay up despite this. Dann and Johnston gone on to better things as they were that good? Yeah right he signed one or two still there but you are bound to get one or two right.

  • Dave Smith says:

As I see it, as a Blues fan of over 45 years, I really feel that we are approaching our darkest hour. I think we are in for a very rough ride and the future is unclear – things will get rougher – as the Hurricane said to the palm tree “Hang on to your nuts – this is no ordinary blow job”. I really believe that Yeung is the only one of the Chinese hoards that wanted a football club – all of the other donators wanted to make PROFIT! – they have NO INTEREST WHATSOVEVER in Blues. However, as we are finding out to our cost, Mr. Yeung is at best naieve and at worst corrupt and I personally have never witnessed mis management like it. I could rant on a bit more but why? we do not know the future except for one thing – these Chinese owners will do what suits THEM – we will have to wait and see if our club survives the storm. Almajir – please give more detailos about the trust – I beleive it may be the only way to save our precious, beloved Blues. KRO – I will always be Blue and White till the day I die. SOTV.

    • only-me says:

Almajir, has just said he will be writing a piece later on the Blues Trust.
But these things can only work, if enough of us get involved,

  • Art Watson says:

I’m sure there are people wanting to buy the club but they are waiting for the bottom to drop out before making a paultry offer.

    I think it’s almost has.

  • Ben says:

Lee Clark, Di Canio, Zola, Poyet (doubtful), Ray Wilkins, and I’m sure there are many more.
It wouldn’t be the end of the world if he left – if the fee was decent and the club is in a decent state.
But thats just guess work – we’d be much better off with Hughton staying and not having to hunt down a manager.
But as we all know what will be will be – many of highs and low sure to follow

    KRO

    • only-me says:

Ben, its not going to be just CH tho, it will be all the staff, Trollop, Watson the lot.

      • Ben says:

But his staff are on similar deals to him and they can sign them for there compensation.
Yes C.Hughton and his staff have done well- but if he goes and 14:30 is the expected annoucement then we must roll with the punches and find our next manager who may have better staff and boost the team more or could be awful and get us relegated – only time will tell

SO FOR NOW LETS JUST KRO
AND WHILE CHRIS IS STILL INCHARGE (ALBEIT WANTS TO SPEAK TO NORWICH) I’M STILL BEHIND HIM!

        KEEP RIGHT ON!

    • evesham blue says:

Problem is mate we will sign someone currently out of work. What caliber of manager is out of work now and is desperate enough to work under these conditions? Wolves couldnt get anybody last year and even Liverpool have to poach an untried manager. In the meantime we sell players to tide us over to the next parachute payment as we have cashflow problems and we cant even replace the bodies that are leaving as the embargo shows no sign of abating. CY was buying time to try to unfreeze his assets and now his house is being repossed.

I just hope that any money Blues get is staying in the club as surely now we have cut our wages accordingly but the problem is we dont have immediete cashflow as our owners assets are fron and he/BIHL dont want to publish our accounts. We are therefore fecked as our assets(the players) will be sold off and not replaced.

      • nicky wicky says:

evesham blue your believing all the rubbish in the press. blues don’t have a cashflow problem carson yeung and bihl have the cashflow problem because their assets are frozen thats why they are asset stripping blues because it is the only thing they’ve got that is free from the asset freeze because carson isn’t the majority sharholder on paper, though it’s his company and he probably shouldn’t be able to touch blues, and he’s going to bleed it dry until he’s forced out or theres nothing left to sell!

        • Evesham Blue says:

We do have a cashflow problem. We got relegated and like it or not our current owner cant put any money into the club to pay wages or fund players. Bit of a handicap! I make my own mind up on what I read. We dont have the revenue from the premier league, we were paying premiership wages and we dont even generate enough revenue through season tickets or sell our ground out at all in a season except when the arm chair fans fancy a trip to wembley! Go figure what life as a championship club without a sugar daddy means. There is no one to bail us out. I dont see a queue do you?

      • Agent McLeish says:

CH was out of work when Blues snapped him up.

  • Thomas Hallberg says:

Let,s hope for a miracle and that CH stays onboard. He’s been so great for our club. On the other hand I hope that the big chinese joke leave us a soon as possible and that we get another owner. That’s the second miracle I’m hoping for. And as all good things are three let’s all hope for another great season that takes us back to where belong.

But as always as a Birmingham fan you have to say “Keep Right ON…”

  • Mark Y says:

I was very fearful and ultimately totally dejected when we were relegated last year as I was sure that this time we would suffer financial difficulties that could lead to years in the doldrums. We suffered a similar fate in the early 80’s. I was sure that would not have the required the stability and financial stability that was always provided by Gold & Sullivan regime in similar circumstances and which led to immediate promotions. I have supported this club for 50 years and although far from perfect Gold, Sullivan & Brady were the best board we had over this period. Yes the Coombes family provided stability but they never stumped up the money when we had the opportunity to be a top club in the mid 70’s. In saying that I am sure that Gold & Sullivan with their business acumen must have had some knowledge of the background of Carson Yeung, but, were only interested in securing a fantastic price for the club and not too concerned about the long term stability. A brave attempt by the squad and CH to get near to promotion but I fear a player exodus. Unfortunately, I have a horrible feeling the ownership won’t change until CY’s situation has completly unravelled and which could be many months away.
We need these bloody accounts released soon to give us any hope of appointing a decent manager and having some sort of competitive squad next season.

    • evesham blue says:

Aye and then BIHL not Blues go bust and a 10 point deduction for us next year similar to what happened to Southampton with a threadbare squad to boot. It doesnt get much better than that. You wont get another miracle worker like CH either odds on. We could well be half a team of loan signings and rookies next year. Does the embargo stop loanees joining? When does the selling stop? Butland, Mutch and Redmond (our future) sold off? How long before the players left mutiny who were only staying because of CH and the fantastic team spirit? The whole back room staff gone including the underpinning structure – Watson and chief scouts etc ?

    • nicky wicky says:

sullivan and gold did nothing for us but keep us going spending the bare minimum. They haven’t done what they’ve done at west ham and pumped in loads of money.when we were promoted they were happy for us to finish 17th and rake in the profits from season ticket and other sales telling us they werere going to sign maradona and bollocks like that. If carson hadn’t be brought up in court and had his assets frozen then we would have been able to sign some better players, and improve the squad, and money from sales would have gone back into the club, but now he’s in this mess he’s asset stripping the club. the last lot knew he was a mug punter who didn’t have the money, and wasn’t a billionaire but sold the club to him to spite the blues fans don’t make them out to be nice people they were smiling assassins!

  • Art Watson says:

Impossibilities take time- miracles just a little longer.

    Keep hoping.

  • Thomas Hallberg says:

Money Rules! And as we don’t seem to have any we have to accept what happens.
    BUT
It’s certainly time to tell the owners and the board that we want a change of things. I’m afraid this starts to look like quite bad for the club. WE NEED A NEW OWNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • neal says:

    The associations that run football in this country should also hang their heads, allowing clubs to be placed in the hands of incompetents with no local connections, no history of support, no due diligence on whether they are fit to run a football club, just left to create a shambles;

Blues, Portsmouth, Blackburn, the last set of American Liverpool owners, even the Man U Glazer debt – You cannot blame CH for leaving, you cant do your job with one hand tied behind your back!

For me it was always going to happen as is the impending administration – the owners have provided no evidence that they intend to do anything but ignore the club, only use it as a piggy bank to raid for as long as they can get away with it

  • joe c says:

    absolutely gutted!
but we will return like a pheonix from the flames bigger stronger and better.
the board all need to resign and that will happen soon.
the words keep right on have never meant so much in these hard times.
we will be back keep the faith and sell the clup sotv

  • Mantisreflex says:

I wonder If the Kumar brothers are available? KRO SOTV!

  • evesham blue says:

I do hope that PP has driven a hard bargain with Norwich not just money e.g. like putting in some safeguards that CH cant take all the backroom staff and players with him when he goes. That a shortlist has already been drafted up to replace him. We cant start from scratch again with no contingency surely??

    • DoctorD says:

Yes let’s hope PP has driven that kind of bargain. What are the odds on McLeish to come back? It would be a nightmare, but like I said above, there are some things you think you could never make up but that turn out to be true.

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

Let’s hope Pee Pee fecks off ASAP, he’s presiding over our club becoming a laughing stock, refuses to engage with the fans yet still some love him.

    Part of the problem.

    • evesham blue says:

PP is just the puppet. The Puppet Master needs ousting. I personally think despite his faults – PP and CH kept us going last year and defended our interests as best they could under the circumstances.

  • andy says:

Well lets just hope the board aint decided to take what money is offered to the club now everything is pearshaped at BIHL. i.e. Selling Butland and any other asset the club has left. This is what i feel the next step will be. It would be a complete rape of Birmingham City Football Club and totally unforgiveable.

    • nicky wicky says:

you’ve got it in one. Chris Hughton is trying to send a message to blues fans. unless these chinese clowns are forced out while theres still something left to salvage blues could end up like accrington stanley, remember them?

      • evesham blue says:

CH is not sending a message. He is getting out of Dodge and who can blame him? His standing is back up after Blues gave him a lifeline to get back into management. But I wouldnt expect loyalty either as it doesnt exist under these circumstances. I wouldnt be surprised if he was told to go as there was a nice big cheque on the PP’s table for his services. Needs must and all that.

  • bluenose08 says:

How the hell are the club going to sell tickets now ! I always felt ch was aware of what is going on and would only leave if his job became impossible, well i think we know now !
Football wise last season was the most entertaining i have seen for a long time and that was down to ch and the team and i would like to thank him for that and if he leaves i wish him well. k.r.o.

  • Denis Thwaites says:

Inevitable news given the lies about publishing accounts before play off final. I fear for the worst now. We could become another Cov within a year unless something changes in the ownership.

CH is taking on a tough act to follow in the new Vile manager but I hope he has more success than the new manager down the road. My guess is that we will end up with Calderwood as manager now to save a few bob more or possibly mad MICK M if he is daft enough to step into this dogs doo!.

I may never buy a chinky again!!

    • evesham blue says:

lol. It would make sense yes to keep someone over from the last regime who knows the players etc and which was fairly successful. That would be logical wouldnt it? It’s called continuation management. This regime tho – when have they ever had a contingency plan? As for doing a Cov – well they dont have parachute payments and millions of premier league flops to flog on do they from last year.

  • kentucky blue says:

Not good news but we have been here before its what you get being a bluenose. Still gutted and on suicide watch and my wife has removed all sharp objects kro

  • Plymouth Steve says:

For sure CY will not give in until all hope has vanished, this is about face to him and the Chinese will destroy things before they lose the own face to other businessman. The club will be ransacked, and if he could he would burn the ground down to get the insurance money. As fans we just have to sit and hope that we come out of this with a club intact. As CH goes he will take a lot of the backroom staff with him, we will be left with rag, tag and bobtail. I think we have darker days to come before any light at the end of any tunnel can be seen. But remeber this is our club and that we the fans will always be there, Blue to the end.

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

And still Pannu says jack and still we think that’s ok

  • JakeyBlue says:

If you ask me this is all Zigic’s fault

  • Gregmeister says:

I’ve already renewed my season ticket, With or without Hughton I will be there to support my team like all bluenoses should. Moaning and whining about the board on the Internet will get you nowhere. After accounts are published and Carsons court case we will know more, I don’t care what happens as long as the club is still there. Blues are for life not just for a few seasons in the premier league and a cup final!!!

    • nicky wicky says:

your a foll buying a ticket to watch a team that you don’t even know what it will be made of. They only have 15 registered players in the squad and there could well be a firesale so they are going to have to make up the numbers from thew academy. If you believe the accounts will be published in august you’ll beleive anything court case or not things aint gonna improve till this lot go. Your whats known as a mug punter!

      • Paulo says:

try saying that down the royal george matey!!! …you’d quickly find out who the mug is.

        • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

Apart from recruiting CH tell me one good thing PPnhas done?

We’re in the biggest shit in our history and he’s running it FFS.

He doesn’t even want to talk to the likes of you remember.

As for Hughton I agree with Bluesbot, he’s doing the same as Gardner and Johnston did. For all the reasons to leave, which are plenty, he’s still showing zero loyalty or gratitude. Feck him

  • Paulo says:

All it takes is for clubs to sack managers and create vacancies, then hey ho ..it all turns into a circus, and many clubs innocent clubs suffer. well, I cant think of any bad things to say about CH, but I can think of plenty to say about BHIL, which I guess ‘by extension’ links to PP.
BCFC though is something that is bigger and always will be.

  • Gregmeister says:

I just don’t get why the fair weather fans feel the need to criticise the people who have renewed, the club and fan will be here long after the board have gone

  • JakeyBlue says:

Mick McCarthy would work wonders with our youth team next year.. who’s with me?

  • Louise says:

Holloway for me, but understand Blackpool would want compensation and we can’t afford any.
Dread to think who we’ll end up with out of the managers who are out of work at the moment.

On another note because of Aston Villa we potentially have lost two managers in the space of a year!
    Thanks a lot Randy!!

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

Hope the embargo don’t stretch to signing a manager

  • joe c says:

embargo stretches to any new player contracts i think

  • bluesbot says:

Personally if he goes I would not be happy with Hughton, Running out on us after just a season just isnt good form, he hasnt shown us any loyalty whatsoever, and as for his career its not the best of moves – reason 1, the longest he has spent running a club is less than 18 months – a bit of longevity would be ideal, reason 2, Norwich will probably be relegated next season, they dont have the best of squads, not a lot of cash and will find season 2 hard like most do.

Sure Hughton has plenty of crap to deal with at blues but if he hangs in there he could end up with a team that he has built and if we get new owners soon then could have a bit of cash to build a legacy. He wont have that luxury in the PL where pressure to succeed begins on day one !!!

    • evesham blue says:

Clutching at straws there mate. He is talking to them so he is seriously entertaining leaving. Unless he does a Martinez which I doubt. Norwich have gone for him so they obviously want him. Just a formality I would think. They are a well run club unlike ours at the mo. If he goes well..BCFC goes on and is bigger than CH. I think if Blues were stable he wouldnt be going to Norwich or Baggies

  • steve says:

Lets not forget PP recruited CH. Hopefully PP can pull it off again with another good footballing managerial appointment?

  • JakeyBlue says:

If we get Zola in we really will be a laughing stock

  • Adam says:

    Ray Wilkins for manager
