Paladini Pulled Out?

Rumours have broken that Gianni Paladini has finally completely pulled out of negotiations to buy Birmingham City Football Club from Birmingham International Holdings.

In a post on Facebook, Stephen Paladini (Gianni’s son) posted that Gianni had pulled out of buying the club after being tired of being messed around by Peter Pannu. There is a screenshot of the post here, courtesy of @Mr_Kwacky on twitter.

Whilst this isn’t official confirmation it wouldn’t be surprising to me if Paladini has pulled out with no public reaction from Mr Pannu to Gianni’s offer of doing the deal in two weeks. Where it leaves Blues is another matter entirely as it would seem to be now down to Mr Pannu’s negotiations with parties in Hong Kong unless any new parties come to the fore.

As more news breaks I will endeavour to update this post.

Edit: 14:30 Friday 14 December

According to Nick Clitheroe, Sports Editor for Midlands Today, Paladini HASN’T pulled out and still hopes to meet with Pannu.

Edit 14:45 Friday 14 December

I’ve been reliably informed that there will be a meeting between Pannu and Paladini (and/or their lawyers) early next week.

  • Graham Woodward says:

It’s all part of the chase, if Pannu said “come on then, let’s see your money Paladini”, he’d be back don’t worry about that

    • John says:

Tom Ross said on his radio show, after the game today, that Pannu is meating with Paladini’s lawyers on Monday. So much for “rumours”. Even with this announcement, i won’t believe anything until Birningham City Football Club, make an official statement !

  • Gary R says:

Is there any chance at all that this information could be wrong, or that the account is a ‘fake’? Couldn’t anyone set up a FB and call themselves Stephen Paladini? Not saying this is the case…but seems strange to announce the deal is dead via the guy’s son’s FB page?

  • Ainsley says:

    Doesn’t look right.

You really wouldn’t let your son break that kind of news over his facebook page

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

According to Pannu an offer was never made so nothing to pull out from?

    • almajir says:

Pannu may not have told the truth…

      • Gary R says:

Almajir – is there anyway you can contact Charles Chan or his Associates to find out what their part in this saga is?

        • almajir says:

          Of course there is.

Can’t guarantee I’d get a response or even an acknowledgement though

          • Gary R says:

I’m just thinking that if he does offer a response then it’ll suggest that there’s no truth in him being interested, whereas if he doesn’t say anything he might be obliged to stay silent because of confidentiality issues. If he’s not interested in us, and therefore he hasn’t signed any confidentiality agreements, then I’d assume he’d have nothing to lose/fear/gain by offering acknowledgement if the issue was raised with him?

          • almajir says:

Or, he might not answer cos he can’t be arsed with faffing around with some plebs from Birmingham…

  • paul davis says:

WHY IS IT THAT YET AGAIN THE SUPPORTERS WHO ARE SURELY THE MOST IMPORTANT ARE ALWAYS HAVING TO RELY ON RUMOURS AND NEWSPAPER ARTICLES. IM ABSOLUTELY SICK TO DEATH OF THESE PEOPLE KEEPING US DANGLING ALL THE TIME. ITS EMBARRASSING AND ALSO SHAMBOLIC THE WAY THE WHOLE SITUATION IS HANDLED. ITS A DRAGGED OUT SAGA AND ITS BORING. WHEN THE STORY FIRST BROKE THAT THE CLUB WAS CLOSE TO BEING SOLD,I KIDDED MYSELF THAT AT LAST WE MAY BE ABOUT TO TURN THE CORNER AND MOVE FORWARD. I SHOULD HAVE REALISED BY NOW THAT WHEN IT COMES TO BIRMINGHAM CITY THEN NOTHING IS EVER THAT SIMPLE.

    • Kaje says:

Supporters stopped being the most important people in football when players started being paid weekly sums in excess of the average yearly wage for those who watch the game. If you think we have ANY bearing on what happens in this sale, you’re sadly mistaken. Pannu and Yeung simply do not care what we think, we could stage a protest higher than the average gate so far this season and they wouldn’t bat an eyelid. It’s gone far past that. They want to recoup their losses and they will do whatever it takes, however long it takes, to do just that.

      • Paulo says:

..and not forgetting when SKY became the major revenue that players bleed from the clubs regularly. That pretty much says everything for the fan who actually buys a season ticket ..even less important. Take the TV loyalties away, and your left with a very different type of player. Some of these ‘premiership’ players are quite simply parasites. But that’s why I like to see non-league matches when I can.

    • big frank says:

your right mate it is boring and i couldn’t give a toss about it anymore, what will be will be.

    • Steve-0 says:

Telling the fans is making it public knowledge. As most business transactions like this are done in private for a variety of very good reasons, Blues fans will know at the time the information is available to Villa fans.

“Fans are the most important part of the club”. According to who?

  • Bluenosed says:

Was he ever in to pull out. The whole bid or none bid is so flaky.

  • Gary R says:

Almajir – we’re hardly plebs, are we? We pay good, honest money to support our football club. I can’t see how offering an answer to a question would put him out. We’re not asking him for the Earth, are we?

I’m guessing from your response that you’re going to be contacting Mr Chan?

  • Euston 9.18 says:

Looks like the “press boys” won’t get there man.

Really professional, the son of the “mouth piece” using his facebook to inform us.

    Class !!

  • Gwynfor says:

WHY is Pannu playing mind games, its about time he came out and told us Blues fans what is going on. Is anyone interested in our club or not, this will finish us off if its not sorted soon. Come on blues fans we need to do something now.

    • Brumboi says:

Yes we do. Attending matches would be a good start! 14,000 is, I’m sad to say, pathetic!

I’m a season ticket holder and get p1$$ed off by fans who DON’T go to the match complaining about CY and PP.

I’m sure you and many true fans agree with this.

  • Kaje says:

Unfortunately, I now feel we’re fecked. Nobody is going to have completed a deal before the January window – and I’m skeptical anyone would have completed the deal AFTER the January window, even if they were to agree a fee today.

This leaves us in a very, very precarious position. We’re sitting very low in the table, we’re putting in some awful performances with some awful tactical decisions, we have diminishing crowds and in desperate need of not only keeping our stars but adding to the squad.

Unfortunately, without those new owners we’re going to see stars move on in January. I would expect to see both Butland and Redmond move on for less than £3m each with none of the received funds being pushed back into the transfer kitty. I

t’s batten down the hatches time, it’s going to be a stormy voyage.

    • Kaje says:

Have just seen the update, but it doesn’t change anything. It’s far too late in the year to expect any takeover to have been completed before the end of the January transfer window.

  • Paulo says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if Pannu simply had enough of Paladini talking to the press and breaking confidentiality agreements during those initial stages. For all we know, there could have been investors or buyers interested and the entire process broke down for everyone because of Paladini talking publicly. PP isn’t one for communication at the best of times, but with the amount of legalities surrounding the club, it adds to the already mounting frustration of the fans.
As for being leaked on facebook, well ..it just adds to the authenticity of it all really. The site is a haven for scandal at times, and also first hand good news, and bad news too.
If it is true, it doesn’t surprise me one bit. There is always going to be two sides to the whole Pannu vs Paladini fiasco, and we only know what we have been told by both of them …plenty by Paladini, and next to nothing by PP. One of them can’t be telling the whole truth, but that isn’t surprising really …why would anyone who deals with millions of pounds even give a rats arse about the paying fan?

  • paul davis says:

I HATE TO ADMIT IT BUT I HAVE TO AGREE WITH KAJE,THE BAD TIMES ARE STILL TO COME AND I CAN SEE US GETTING RELEGATED IF MORE PLAYERS ARE SOLD.

  • Bluenosesol says:

Looking more and more likely that CY and PP are hanging on in there with a hope that they can revive the club and hence CY’s fortunes. CY will probably only ever sell if he can clear most of his debts with the proceeds. If he sells he is guaranteed to be in debt!

  • tamuffblue says:

Why Oh Why are we surprised at any of this malarkey ??? its obvious there is no Hong Komg interest – there have been meetings and Pannu has been well fecked off by the hong kong people – he now has come to Brum to salvage ANYTHING near respectability in terms of money for Sweeny Todd – All that bullshit about charlie Chan – Bruce Lee – and the bloke who owns a restaraunt in Digbeth !!!! was exactlty that Bullshit – I am assuming – I do not have the facts – I do want a multi billionare AS DOES EVERYONE ON HERE !!!!!!! but the facts are clear Pannu is drowning and he is taking the club with him – Call me inane – call me dellusional – call me what you want but while you do Judgement day looms

AL just to put the local press in perspective Remember this headline in 2006 – GO DOUG AND TAKE O’LEARY WITH YOU !!!!!!! front page within weeks Lerner arrived with O’Neil in tow – Job Done for the Vile Rag

  • Blueboy88 says:

    What a bloody Pantomine …again..!!

Oh no he isn’t….oh yes he is….

God helps us…..or more optimistacally , some decent as yet unknown business man , who would takeover & begin to run this proud football club in a more appropriate & fitting manor , than the current clowns..& or the proposed circus that is currently trying to come to town..

  • AuldBertie says:

The deal is still on according to Goalzone Facebook page:

Sorry for delay in posting but have been at WBA no signal- Gianni Paladini has not pulled out of wanting to buy Blues- he/his people have a meeting set for on or around 17th Dec

  • Blue in Spain says:

Seems like a case of Like father Like son……… Anything for a few lines in the media!

  • bluenoseneil says:

We aren’t going under. We won’t be selling to Paladini. We won’t lose any players in January stop let’s see how many of those predictions are correct! I suspect all of them will be. Enough said.

  • Bluenosesol says:

Guys we are not at the last one out turn the lights out stage. My prediction, we are going to wallop Palace. See you all down there tomorrow. KRO!

  • les says:

amazing stuff and greed from all corners can only be the winner..

  • Bluenosesol says:

Had to laugh at the headlines on the Official Blues web site “The Big Blues Sale Starts Tomorrow”

  • andy says:

Isnt Pannu meeting with Paladini and his backers next week? Thats what i have heard.

  • R sMITH says:

Some people need to come back to planet Earth.
Would all the people who are demanding that CY sells the club at a massive loss be as happy to sell their own home or car to someone offering them a fraction of its value?
CY was stupid to pay what he did for the club but can anyone seriously expect him to sell it for less than he can get elsewhere just to please Blues fans?
And lets remember, until his financial problems, he put more money into the club than any other owners have, and I’m sure that he would love to be in a position where he still could afford to fund our club.
As for PP he is frustratingly silent but he is just an employee, it’s not his club and he can’t just give it away for peanuts.
    Please folks get real.

    • James Black says:

R sMITH, Your words echo my sentiments entirely. The way people just go on and on when its obvious that CY made a huge error in paying what he did in the first place, further compounded by money he put in adding to his problems. Call him foolish sure, but to say he don’t care and accusations of greed and even many times people talking of back pocketing money HUH. The man lost a fortune, but to please people who wake up moaning and then fall asleep moaning after having spent the whole day moaning, his supposed to sell up for a massive loss to basically anyone that comes along, even venture capitalists like the Paladini crew. Then if he did that and sold it to them and it all goes wrong again, im sure the same people will say that he should of cared who he sold it too and slag him for that. Frankly when your up against that kinda mentality, their is little point in talking.

  • andy says:

Thats all well and good but if we are talking about being back on planet earth nobody is going to pay £40 Million for Blues and to be honest the only thing holding up the Paladini bid is the way the deal is being offered in installments.

  • swissjonny says:

The last few verses of a Commodores song is playing on the dance floor .Youve spent all night buying Champagne for top models but with no luck.An old blonde-a lady of significant mileage-is eyeing you up.You suddenly realize she’s the last girl in the club. The dream is over ,its her or nothing.Wake up Mr Pannu or its you and your bag of Chips on the Sofa watching reruns of Baywatch..

    • James Black says:

Swissjonny, Then the Kids (the fans) would complain, why you bought that ugly woman home Dad. I dont believe thats the case Jonny just go back to the club tomorrow until a nice one turns up and shows interest.

  • swissjonny says:

OK.James.Im hearing you but Im running out of credibility down that club.Im also running out of Champagne vouchers. Always remember the wise old proverb.A girl in the bed is worth two in the discotheque .KRO

  • Glazey says:

At the end of the day is it such a bad thing that this takeover runs into the summer. The sooner we as Blues fans realise that we are on a slow burner to get back the PL the better!! I for one would hate to see our team beaten up in the PL and with the current squad that’s basically what would happen. We need a couple of consolidation and building years in the current league so that we can go up the PL as a decent fighting force and this time stay there. Hang in their bluenoses KRO
