Referee Watch – Simon Hooper
Barring any late changes, Simon Hooper of Wiltshire will be in the middle for Blues’ Championship game against Leeds United at St Andrews today. Here is a look at his stats.
Season Performance
Mr Hooper has been in the middle for thirty-six games this season, and in those matches he has shown one hundred and three yellow cards and five reds. Of those games, seventeen have been in the Championship and those games have yielded sixty-three cautions and three sendings off.
Last Blues Match Refereed
The last match involving Blues that Mr Hooper officiated in was the 3-1 win over Derby County on March 9. In that game, Mr Hooper handed out two yellow cards – to Shane Ferguson and Nikola Zigic. I mentioned in my match reflections that the ref was poor and Colin Tattum concurred, giving Mr Hooper a 5.
Last Championship Game Refereed
The last match at this level refereed by Mr Hooper was the game between Ipswich and Crystal Palace on Tuesday night which finished 3-0 to the home side. Mr Hooper handed out seven bookings – to Richard Stearman, Luke Hyam, Guirane N’Daw and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas of Ipswich Town and Joel Ward, Damien Delaney and Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace. However, Mr Hooper’s performance wasn’t noted by either the Ipswich Star or the Croydon Advertiser in their match reports.
