Birmingham City hauled themselves out of the bottom three with a morale-boosting 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town, despite having Kyle Bartley sent off for a second bookable offence with the referee deciding that he had been over-exuberant in his celebrations for his second goal.

New Heroes

Birmingham City continued their fine start to the pre-season last night with a 4-0 win over Shamrock Rovers at the Tallaght Stadium. Goals from Lee Novak, Nikola Zigic, Callum Reilly and Matt Green saw Blues easily dispose of the League of Ireland side although the night was overshadowed by what could have been a bad injury to striker Matt Green. Thankfully the former Mansfield man was up and about in the dressing room post-match with seemingly no ill effects from being knocked out.

Green at Blues

Blues take their new signing total to nine today having signed Matt Green on a free transfer and Dan Burn on loan. Green, who has signed a two-year deal played for Mansfield Town last year and scored 27 league goals as they were promoted to the Football League. Burn signs on a season long loan from Fulham and will be vying with fellow loanee Kyle Bartley along with Paul Robinson for a starting spot at centre back.

Bartley and Burn in?

It has been reported by the Birmingham Mail that Kyle Bartley and Dan Burn are due to sign today on season long loan deals from Swansea and Fulham respectively. Bartley, 22, is formerly of Arsenal and has had two loan periods each at Sheffield United and Rangers before signing for Swansea last year whilst Burn, 21, spent last season on loan at Yeovil scoring the playoff final goal that took them up to the Championship.
