Birmingham City confirmed yesterday that goalkeeper Darren Randolph has rejected the offer of a new contract and is exercising his right to leave the club as per the Bosman ruling at the end of the season.

Unsung Heroes and Inconsistency – Blackburn Reflections

Birmingham City played out a 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers last night as the season starts to wind down to a close. Goals from Jonathan Grounds and Demarai Gray cancelled out efforts from Matthew Kilgallon and Jordan Rhodes in the stalemate.

Which Keeper to Keep?

Birmingham City will be in the unique position this summer of having all five professionally contracted goalkeepers come to the end of their deals. Darren Randolph, Colin Doyle, Nick Townsend, Callum Preston and Connal Trueman are all out of contact come June 2015 and Gary Rowett will have to work out who stays and who goes.

The first match of Gary Rowett’s reign as Birmingham City manager yesterday ended as a goalless draw in what was seen as a much more positive performance following the 8-0 humiliation the week before. It was the first clean sheet for Blues since the home win against Brighton in the middle of August and the first away clean sheet since the 2-0 win over Charlton at the Valley in February.

Off and Running

Birmingham City completed their first league victory of the new season by beating Gary Johnson’s Yeovil Town 1-0 at Huish Park on Saturday. The only goal came from former Blues target and Yeovil defender Dan Seaborne who put through his own net.
