On this day one year ago, Lee Clark experimented with probably one of the craziest team selections I’ve ever seen. It was a balanced team – five outfield players were right-footed, five were left-footed; however, three quarters of the defence were playing out of their normal position and the result was inevitable; within half an hour we were three down and by half-time it was four.

Championship Thoughts
Due to the ongoing participation of Reading in the FA Cup, Blues game from last night has been postponed to an unconfirmed later date. However, there was an almost complete Championship programme of games and as there was no Birmingham City stuff to keep an eye on I took a look at what was happening in the division.

Like Watching Two Lee Clark Teams: Blackpool Match Reflections
Birmingham City ground out a second 1-0 win in five days last night against a Blackpool side that is now all but relegated. An Andrew Shinnie header was all that seperated the two teams in what was a dour encounter.

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark was sacked today following a sequence of results that saw one home league win for Blues in 24 games stretching back 389 days. Steve Watson has also been given his P45 leaving first team coach Richard Beale and chief scout Malcolm Crosbie to take charge of the team for the trip to Ewood Park.

When the highlight of the game is watching Lee Novak in goal…
Birmingham City slipped to another home defeat against Bolton Wanderers yesterday. The Trotters, playing their first game under new manager Neil Lennon took the lead in the first half thanks to a Matt Mills header at a corner and despite missing a penalty held it until the end.

Managers and Statistics
It’s the international break again and once again a fallow time for club football. Demarai Gray has returned from u19 duty with England early as a precaution to an ankle injury while Bobby Moseley has been forced to return home from the Republic of Ireland u19 squad with a groin strain.
