More Chinese Gossip
A couple of days I posted about a loan made to one of Carson’s companies being potentially “written off” because of Carson’s legal problems. There’s been a bit more about it in the Hong Kong press today so I thought I’d bring that to you.
Apple Daily (who have been a rival of Carson’s for some time) published a piece today remarking on the impairment of these loans totalling HK$9.5mil made to SMI Publishing. Like Often Partisan reader JMC, who made an astute comment on the original piece, Apple also picked up on the fact iMerchants is chaired by a guy called Raymond Yau Yan Ming – who is also an independent non-exec director of BIH. They went further to mention that iMerchants were happy to lend Carson the money based on who he was – no collateral, no equity and no directorship required – and now seem equally okay with writing off the money.
The other thing I thought that was interesting is Carson was borrowing this money around October 2009 – which is about the time he bought Birmingham City. Make of that what you will.

It’s all Chinese Whispers if you ask me!
I will second that! wingman blue
My main concern, is still,!!. No word from Peter Pannu, [ or anyone else ] about the state of affairs concerning our club,??.
Whilst I am aware that other dealings in H,K. have some bearing on our status,?. IT IS only Blues future that concerns me/us,!!!!!!!!.
isn’t 9.5 hk dollars about 800k pounds so chicken feed really between friends !!
We dont have to wait for PP’s next announcement as SKY Sports will beat him to it. Namely, we go into admin, lose the points, lose the players, get relegated then hope for a saviour like the Kumars to come on board!.I am beginning to think that if we wait for a reality check from the club before we resort to public protests, then we will be shutting the door after the horse has bolted!! Alas we are on borrowed time :-(
Be positive !!!!
BlueHobba, I bought my season ticket for the 20+ year in succession and i had a£25 bet on us to win the league at 40-1. I rearranged my holidays so I dont miss home matches, I went to the end of season bash at the NIA, I went to the Carling cup final. In terms of contribution to the club, I am as positive as any other. My concern is that whilst the majority continue to stay positive, this very attitude though laudible, may be the very mechanism that lets CY and his chronies plunder our beloved club unchallenged. If Tatts and Ross have told our fans that they believe the finances at the club are even more dire than the general consensus believes, then we need to break out of an inert “positive” stance and start raising the stakes!!
Why are all the reports regarding CY & his 23% ???
What about the other 77% who owns those shares the majority shareholding ???
Wo ‘nt their voices have a say if the worst happens to CY
It’s all looking pretty desperate unless CY miraculously gets off the money laundering charges. If the club is forced into another fire sale of it’s remaining stars we are up the creek and probably headed for administration. The most valuable asset the club has is us, its fanbase, and that hopefully will bring in another buyer. Let’s hope it’s not too long coming and he/they aren’t as bent as the current rabble.
Could Leroy Kung and CY (K S Yeung) both being Directors of Net Alliance have any bearing on it? http://www.netalliance.com.hk/about_us_directors.html
Don’t think that’s Carson fella.
Do you think I got my Net Alliance and Small Heath version mixed up then?
