Summer Jigsaw Falling Into Place
After a few days of feeling a bit glum about things at Blues yesterday cheered me up no end. The dreaded approach came from WBA for Chris Hughton and after Peter Pannu told them it would cost them £2million for his services they decided to look elsewhere. All in all, a good result.

Permission To Talk
As feared, it has emerged that Chris Hughton has now become the top target of the West Bromwich Albion hierarchy to take over the Hawthorns hotseat from England manager Roy Hodgson.

Hughton and the Red Tops
Two national tabloid newspapers went with stories this morning regarding the likelihood of Chris Hughton taking over the manager’s position at West Bromwich Albion from new England boss Roy Hodgson. The Sun and the Star went with near identical stories naming Hughton as the number one candidate to take on the hotseat at the Hawthorns due to the continuing financial uncertainties at St Andrews.

Keeping Hughton
It’s emerged that the contrary to what most of the London-based media would have had you believing over the last few months, WBA manager Roy Hodgson is likely to take over the England manager job. If that happens, it will mean the Baggies will be on the lookout for a new manager, and Hughton has quickly become a favourite amongst their fans as the man to take over.

Five Year Deals
One thing I have noticed continually cropping up in the comments here and around the messageboards is how much Blues fans admire Chris Hughton, and how people think that he’s worthy of an vastly extended contract. Whilst I admire the sentiment, I think it’s misplaced.

The Cost of Success
It appears the managerial merry go round is just starting up with Mick McCarthy getting the push at Wolves – and to a lesser degree as a result of the FA calling Fabio Capello’s bluff and accepting his resignation. The talk on the Birmingham City messageboards has been that of Chris Hughton being enticed away from the St Andrews hotseat for a bigger, plusher and better paying job elsewhere.
