Bad Week for Carson

It’s not been the best of weeks for Carson Yeung really. Appeal dismissed, prison sentence remaining the same and sued for HK$20.5million as well; I can imagine the former hairdresser has had better times of it.

No Sentence Reduction for Carson; Bail Application Not Made

Former Birmingham City supremo Carson Yeung was back in court today to hear if his sentence of six years was to be reduced following his unsuccessful appeal hearing on Wednesday.

Carson Appeal Verdict Tomorrow

It’s been confirmed in the last few hours that the judgement in Carson’s appeal against his criminal conviction will be heard tomorrow at 10am.

Counsel for the prosecution Jonathan Caplan QC has told the Court of Appeal today that Carson had 55 days in court to contest the validity of the charges laid against him.

The Carson Trial: Appeal Hearing Day One

Carson Yeung was back in court today for the first day of his appeal hearing into his conviction on five counts of money laundering. Clare Montgomery QC, representing Carson told the three appeal court judges how the conviction could not stand as Judge Douglas Yau Tak-hong had not applied the “reasonable man” test accurately in the original trial.

The Carson Trial: Hong Kong Attorney General Hires Top QC

News has emerged from Hong Kong in the last few hours that Carson Yeung isn’t the only person to hire a top barrister for his appeal hearing on Wednesday. It’s emerged that the Attorney General in HK has retained top barrister Jonathan Caplan QC of Riverside Chambers to represent the prosecution.

Carson Yeung Refused Bail

Carson Yeung’s bail application was refused this morning in the Court of Appeal. Judge Michael Lunn, Vice-President of the Court of Appeal refused bail after dismissing Carson’s grounds of appeal as unlikely to succeed.
