Humble Pie
Diego Fabbrini became Birmingham City’s biggest signing in five years, signing for the club in a £1.5million deal that is the largest transfer fee Blues have paid out since they signed Curtis Davies on this day five years ago.

Signing Options
There was a lot of excitement yesterday online about the possibility of Blues re-signing Italian playmaker Diego Fabbrini. The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Middlesbrough but despite having played in 13 of their opening 18 league fixtures he’s started just once since November 25 with Stewart Downing preferred in the “number 10” position.

Dear Gary…
As the second week of the transfer window comes to an end, the level of frustration online with respect to Blues action (or lack thereof) in the transfer window is rising. Having seen what Gary Rowett said about the window on Monday, I wanted to respond in kind with my opinion on where I think we should be.

Injuries and Squad Depth
Defeat in the FA Cup to Bournemouth means that for the first time since 2009, Blues aren’t in the hat for the 4th round draw. Although that’s somewhat disappointing, what’s more worrying is that once again Blues have picked up injuries – and in an area where they don’t have so much cover.

Transfer Meltdowns
The transfer season seems to be truly upon us. Demarai Gray’s long-rumoured transfer away from the club has finally come to fruition; Reece Brown is on trial at West Ham seemingly much to the consternation of many fans and now David Cotterill is being linked with a move away to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Dimmy
By the time you read this, Demarai Gray may not be a Blues player any more. As I write it there has been no official confirmation of him going anywhere, but it’s known he had a medical on Saturday at an unnamed Premier League club (apparently Leicester) and there is at least one other club (apparently Everton) interested in him.

Positive Intent
2016 is upon us, and with it comes the transfer window which opens tomorrow until 11pm, February 1. As always, it’ll be a time of rumours – which club Dimmy Gray is being watched by, which club Dimmy Gray might move to etc. However, Blues are expected to bring in players too with Rowett talking about looking at bringing in two attackers and a defender.

The Dimmy Debate
Although I promised not to dwell on speculation with regards to Demarai Gray, I wanted to touch on what I think is the heart of the debate: to paraphrase the Clash “should he stay or should he go?”

Three Players Considering Their Futures
The future of three fringe Birmingham City players has come up for discussion in the last 24 hours with Wes Thomas, Mark Duffy and Shane Lowry all having to consider what lies ahead for them at B9.

Three Players
Gary Rowett mentioned this morning in the Birmingham Mail that he is hoping to bring in three players in the January transfer window to help bolster his somewhat faltering side.
