Gary Rowett
The Gray Situation
News has broken this evening on the Guardian website that Leciester City have agreed to pay the release clause in Dimmi Gray’s contract – reported to be £4.7m. Gray signed a new contract for three years at St Andrew’s last month but apparently that has done little to halt the speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Victims of Our Own Success?
With just under two weeks until the transfer window shuts for the summer on September 1, Gary Rowett is now battling against the clock to bring in the two signings he wants to complete his squad for the Championship season.

Small and Tight
Birmingham City are the one conspicuous gap in what is a full Championship programme after their game against Brentford was postponed due to the Bees re-laying their pitch. Although it means Blues will somewhat lose some ground on other teams it will mean that Blues players won’t be risking injury on a poor playing surface.

Positivity Sunday
Four points from six, an unbeaten start to the season – not to mention new players settling in and making their mark. It’s got to be said, there is a lot to be positive about right now.

The Kiernan Foofaraw.
The fiasco surrounding the non-signing of Rob Kiernan has once again semi-erupted some six weeks after he signed for Rangers.

Time to Prove the Doubters Wrong
It emerged yesterday Diego Fabbrini is set to sign for Middlesbrough on a year-long loan, finally ending the pursuit in the Italian by Blues following his short loan spell at St Andrew’s last season.

Over Caution
As another week passes without an addition to the Blues team – and with one potential addition falling through – it’s not hard to see an increase in antsiness among Blues fans. The failure to sign Rob Kiernan (regardless of the reason) has not helped levels of pessimism from fans worried that Blues might not be able to compete in the transfer market as much as hoped.

Keeping the Conversation About Football
The transfer window may have now officially opened but it’s still very quiet at St Andrew’s. Despite links to a few players – including Christian Ribeiro of Exeter City yesterday, Blues have yet to sign a senior player this transfer window – a sea change from this point last year when Blues were about to make it a round half-dozen with the signings of David Edgar and Gavin Gunning.

Quality not Quantity
Birmingham City are yet to have made any headway (officially at least) in signing any of the loanees that finished last season at St Andrew’s. Sources inside the club point to Rowett being interested in at least three of them – Rob Kiernan, Robert Tesche and Diego Fabbrini – but as of the time of writing nothing has been agreed.

Tumbleweed…
It’s all gone very quiet at St Andrew’s hasn’t it? While Blatter has said that he will (eventually) fall on his sword at FIFA, Blackpool convince another fall guy that he can be the saviour at Bloomfield Road and Lee Clark has thrown his hat in the ring for the Newcastle United job, it’s nothing but tumbleweed in B9.
