Vaughan Signs
James Vaughan has become the first signing of the winter transfer window, signing on loan until the end of the season with a one year permanent deal agreed after that. The 27-year-old former Everton man has failed to hit the back of the net so far for Blues in six appearances while on emergency loan but supplied the ball for Maikel Kieftenbeld to score the winner in the last home game against Brentford

Purpose and Goals
Birmingham City consolidated their position just outside the playoff zone on Friday with a scrappy 1-0 victory over Cardiff settled by a somewhat disputed penalty scored by Paul Caddis. With just under half the season gone they lie in seventh, a point behind Ipswich and still in contention for a chance of post-season glory.

The Case for Brock
Nicolai Brock-Madsen struggled in his third start for Blues on Saturday, making it eight appearances for the club without breaking his goalscoring duck. The young Dane was restricted to one real chance on goal in the first half which he could only nudge wide from a David Davis cross.
