Birmingham City completed their summer business on transfer window deadline day with the loan signings of Lukas Jutkiewicz and Rhoys Wiggins from Burnley and Bournemouth respectively, while Nicolai Brock-Madsen left on a season long loan to PEC Zwolle, who play in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands.

There will be two Blues stars potentially going to Rio this summer after reports in Nigeria confirmed that Viv Solomon-Otabor has been released by the club to appear for the Dream Team at the Olympics.

Mbende Moves On

Birmingham City confirmed yesterday that Emmanuel Mbende has decided to move back to Germany to continue his studies, signing for Chemnitzer FC of the 3.Liga. Should Mbende be sold on, Blues are in line for a cut of any transfer profit as part of the deal.

Vaughan Signs

James Vaughan has become the first signing of the winter transfer window, signing on loan until the end of the season with a one year permanent deal agreed after that. The 27-year-old former Everton man has failed to hit the back of the net so far for Blues in six appearances while on emergency loan but supplied the ball for Maikel Kieftenbeld to score the winner in the last home game against Brentford

Who’s next on the production line? Development Squad report

Birmingham City drew 2-2 in the Professional Development League 2 game with Bolton Wanderers this afternoon. Goals from Andy Shinnie and Emmanuel Mbende looked to have won it for the hosts but a late equaliser from Quade Taylor ensured the visitors took a share of the spoils.

Purpose and Goals

Birmingham City consolidated their position just outside the playoff zone on Friday with a scrappy 1-0 victory over Cardiff settled by a somewhat disputed penalty scored by Paul Caddis. With just under half the season gone they lie in seventh, a point behind Ipswich and still in contention for a chance of post-season glory.

Injury Problems and Squad Opportunities

Birmingham City have some real injury worries ahead of their game against Middlesbrough tomorrow. Jon Toral (dead leg) and Nicolai Brock-Madsen (ankle) could miss the game in addition to longer term absentees Paul Robinson, David Cotterill, Clayton Donaldson and Koby Arthur.
