Nikola Zigic
The Great Escape

An injury time equaliser from Paul Caddis for Birmingham City against Bolton ensured that it was Doncaster Rovers and not the Blues who were relegated to League One. In a “Great Escape” Steve McQueen would have been proud of Birmingham City stayed up by virtue of a superior goal difference to Paul Dickov’s men having come back from 2-0 down against Bolton.

The Day Before

Birmingham City go into tomorrow’s game knowing that a single point from their final game at the Reebok could be enough to keep them up – and also that they could win and still find themselves relegated if other results go against them.

Farewell Zigic
Tomorrow night is likely to be the last time we will Nikola Zigic play for Blues at St Andrew’s with it being the final home game of what is the last season in his contract. Viewed by some as talisman and by others as one of the chief reasons Blues are still in a financial pickle, Zigic has divided fans throughout his Blues career.

Dear Lee: Leeds Preview

Blues face Leeds today in what is a crunch game in the Championship – win it and the teams around us lose and we are virtually mathematically safe; the reverse and we are in deep trouble. A game without a win today also sets a much unwanted all-time record in the Championship of seventeen home league games without a win. With this in mind I’ve decided to dispense with the normal style of these pieces and address this directly to Lee Clark.

Back to Back at Boro? Middlesbrough Preview

Lee Clark takes his Birmingham City side to the North East this evening looking to secure back to back away wins as Blues continue to try to pull away from the bottom three against a comfortably midtable Middlesbrough side.

Keeping goals out at the Keepmoat – Doncaster Preview

Birmingham City face Doncaster Rovers today in a crunch clash that could see the loser well and truly dragged into the relegation mix. Blues go into the game knowing a win will take them above Rovers while defeat could reduce the gap between them and the bottom three to just two points.

A Serbian Problem

Despite the dearth of strikers at Birmingham City, Nikola Zigic has been left out of the last two match-day squads for “footballing reasons” with rumours abound that he and Lee Clark have fallen out. I don’t think there is anyone who polarises opinion as much at St Andrews as Nikola Zigic. To some he is […]

Lee Clark will be looking for a response from the team as he takes Blues the short distance to Derby County looking for a win and to bounce back from a heavy defeat against Leeds United.
