In the last couple of days there has been some confirmation that two of the longest-serving players at Birmingham City will not be at the club next year. Stephen Carr is confirmed as having retired from football whilst Keith Fahey has stated on twitter that he will be leaving the club this summer.

Taking on the Tykes – Barnsley Preview

Today sees Keith Hill’s Barnsley side come to St Andrews to take on a Blues side who have taken seven points from their last three games. It’s almost a year to the day since the corresponding fixture last year which saw Jacob Butterfield score a 30 yarder in controversial circumstances after a foul on David Murphy to put the Tykes in front before Chris Burke equalised late on for the Blues.

Tricky Trip to play the Tricky Trees: Forest Preview

The championship returns today with Blues heading up the M42 to play against Sean O’Driscoll’s unbeaten Nottingham Forest side. It’s promising to be a tough trip for Blues, who recorded their first league win against Peterborough United just before the international break.

Carr Out For Six Months

This morning Tom Ross broke the sad news on Twitter that Stephen Carr has been ruled out for six months having had to have an operation on his knee. The club captain had been back in full training after recovering from a thigh injury sustained in the opening minutes of the pre-season friendly against Royal Antwerp but had to see a specialist after his knee became swollen. It’s a bitter blow for the Irishman and the question has to be asked if this is the end of the road for Carr.
